I played collegiate baseball for a top 25 D2 program as a catcher…. It’s different in this game vs real life, but break the zone into 3rds and avoid the middle third at all times…. Now your working the corners and think of pitch mix…. Just blew a 99MPH fastball by the hitter low and away… no need to speed up his hands and throw something off speed that if you miss the hitter connects on, maybe go for an up and in and off the plate, change eye levels… then you go a slider away again to change speed/eye levels
Try and live on the corners. In out. Up down. Stay out the middle of the plate. If your that new. Try the classic pitching with the pitching meter. Easier

I usually time my downwards off my pitchers arm movement as it was just easier to replicate over constantly matching the timing. I did not know the ring at the bottom also represents the timing and oh my goodness that's significantly easier to follow.

X is when it’s just a normal hit so I start with and mostly use x. O or circle is usually used for good contact and speed guys. I sometimes use it at 0-2 counts to get a hit. And Square is the one I least use Square is for power. Only use it when your batter has like max power. That’s basically it.
Thx dude, I sucked at this game before I found you. I still suck but at least I'm improving. I'm 65 years old and got PONG for Xmas. I love sports and the best baseball game ever made was a old Intellivision game around 1980. You could get so good and accurate. The game was all about fielding, running, and throwing. Hitting and pitching was lame, but that game was a programming masterpiece. Thanks again, this game is so fun if you take the time to practice and don't get overwhelmed by all the settings and complexity. The trend of games to not include instructions is wrong.
