Yeah it's true he shouldn't try interpreting verses on his own, but I think the problem is much deeper than that... There are far too few resources to support converts to Islam nowadays... Far few people willing to do step in and help them... Added to that, the guy says he's from India, so there is that difficulties, what with the Hindutva Shayateen in power and things. So his best bet would be to find a scholar that could teach him online, or to be careful and find a scholar in his locality that can teach him. But that may be quite risky so do be careful. Also his Father choosing Salman as a name can be a good thing as his heart may be guided towards Islam Inshallah.
