yea, a check-point is coming up or the other car has an out headlight, that's why we flashed our lights at other cars in the area I'm from - Long Island
I live in Canada but I’m Colombian and when we flash our lights, it’s normally to let the people going the other way know that there’s police with speed cameras or they’re stopping people.
I always loved "The Vanishing Hitchhiker". My favorite version is where the guy gives the girl his sweater. After discovering the truth, he goes to the graveyard where she's buried and finds his sweater on her grave. My Halloween costume for 2021 was the Hitchhiker. I modeled it after the Living Dead Doll version of the legend. I wore a long white dress, a letterman-type jacket, two buttons that said "Can I get a ride?" and a shortened version of the legend (apparently very few people in my city have heard the legend), and made up my face to be ghostly. I had a lot of fun with it.
I do it from time to time when I'm drunk and I'm washing my hands after using the washroom. I do it because I think it's funny how scared I used to be as a kid
I was very obsessed with Slender Man in my college years, to the point that I was actually legitimately afraid of him. I watched Tribe Twelve in it’s entirety (the channel has mostly died out), and the lore and history surrounding Slendy has always fascinated me, and considering that there is more to him than originally proclaimed, he’s the only boogeyman or monster under the bed (per se) that I have ever feared.
An urban legend that really scares me is the one about the babysitter who's babysitting for another family and she's freaked out by their clown statue in the hallway at the bottom of the stairs. The children are already upstairs asleep so she spends the night downstairs watching TV. She's super freaked out by the clown statue and she feels like it's watching her. Eventually she gets so scared of it, she calls the parents and asks if she can put a sheet over the statue. That's when they tell her that they don't have a clown statue and to go get the children and leave the house. She runs upstairs and gets the children and when she comes back downstairs it's gone. *Fixed my bad English, Ich bin nur ein müder Deutscher
Where I'm from flashing your lights at someone is a courtesy or warning a cop is up ahead and to make sure you're going the right speed, etc ... We do it frequently. In VA.
The one with the person in the backseat is way too ingrained into my brain--I do shift work and leave before midnight, and whenever anyone behind me has bright headlights, i immediately think of it and go "crap, is there someone back there?" The parking lot at my work is decently lit and I put my bag in the backseat, so I'd definitely see if someone is in there before i get in the car, and yet...
#20 What's also terrifying is that it inspired the Slenderman Stabbing. If you haven't heard of it here's the story: Almost a decade ago, two 12 years old girls lured their friend, Payton Lautner, who was the same age into the woods. Then they did the unthinkable: They stabbed her 19 times, and she was left for dead. Miraculously, she clawed her way on to the road, was found by a passerby, rushed to the hospital, and made a full recovery. The two girls said their motive was to make a sacrifice to that Urban Legend. Some kids take video games to seriously.
One urban legend that always freaked me out is the story of the drugged babysitter. The tale goes that a couple with a new baby hires a sitter so they can go out for the evening. Everything's going great for a while when the couple decides to call and check on the sitter and the kid. The sitter says that she's doing fine, and she just put a chicken in the oven. The couple are horrified - they didn't have any chicken. They rush home to find that the babysitter had taken a hit of LSD and put their baby in the oven to cook.
Flashing headlights to me means 2 things....... 1.) If their headlights are off, it's to let them know 2.) Slow down the po-po is back the way you're headed.
My problem with the hook hand man is what doctor would look at a serial murderer and say “ you know what this guy needs? A vicious weapon for a hand!” Maybe the pillow handed man?
In Ireland when we flash the car headlights to other is warning others that the speed van is there or the Gardi stopping people to see if we are up to date with our car tax and insurance.
That about the vanishing hitchhicker has a version where I live. I live in Baja California, Mexico, here we have a dangerous road named "La Rumorosa", which literally splits in two, one side to climb up the mountain by car, another one to go down, there its said that sometimes an old lady appears walking and asking truckers in the middle of the night for a ride, the truckers who give her a ride are found at the bottom of the abyss in the morning. But there's also another different. People talk about a nurse who got lost and died while going to visit a pacient, she got lost in "La Rumorosa". After that, drivers at night said they looked at her still trying to reach that same pacient, others said that pacients at the hospitals of the area said that a mysterious nurse who didn't gave her name helped them to feel better.
The one with the Gators in NYC Sewers is too obviously stupid and untrue because we all know the only reptiles in the sewers in NYC are 4 crime fighting turtles with 80's attitudes and their totally rad sensi rat. Rumors have it, that if you shout on your NYC Building's rooftop the word "COWABUNGA!!" they will randomly respond back to you. 💗😂
the hitch hiker ghost story happened in japanese taxi driver where the dash cam captured where the door opened and closed and as they went through a tennel you can kind of see the ghost from some light reflection.
I argree with you. By the way, there is some one named black hat that will give medals for those pointless comments. Also black hat will bully people and make false claims as well. What's more sad , black hat is a adult.
I'm familiar with "Aren't you glad you didn't turn on the light", "Bloody Mary", "Chupacabra", "The Vanishing Hitchhiker", "La Llorona", and "The Babysitter & the Man Upstairs". I watched movies, tv shows, listened to stories, or was told about them. When I was little, I tried flusing a toilet ten times to get Bloody Mary to come out and my brother ran out of the bathroom, but she never came out.

Headlights flashing is a real thing. It happened in a city I lived in a few times over a couple of years related to gang initiation for Bloods. Some lived some didn’t which is how they connected it.
Not True. Contrary to the "Legend," there is not one single example of this ever happening. No Crime Reports, No Victims that can be verified, No Arrests and No Prosecutions. If someone claims it to be true, ask for actual details: Time, Place, and Date. Also, Who was Killed and by Whom? The Legend falls apart when nothing can be Verified, with the "Evidence" being Anecdotal and lacks specific details.
I don't believe in any ghost or spirits or souls whatsoever and by that extension, did not get any scared by any of those urban legends at all, but being seriously arachnophobic, that spider one legit terrified me to the bone.
Slender man’s actually a kid he was a kid that always got bullied at school then he got bullied so much that he’d got a lot of bruises and then one day his bullies were at the forest pushing like normal bullies then he tripped on a root and then he fell down a cliff and then the vines forest vines came to him on his body wrapping around making the black color and then that’s how he became slender man
As interesting as the idea of Mothman is, didn't it get 'busted' by showing someone in a glider at night with a certain pair of glasses being hit by enough light causing the person to look like Mothman? I am also VERY surprised that the 'Boogeyman' or one of the many variants is not on this list.
In the summer of 2019 in India reportedly some mysteries entity was cutting of women's braids it was all over the news and women started sleeping wearing motorcycle helmets
The “people can lick too” legend was recreated by the anime jojos bizarre adventure in season 4, the main villain (who killed the girl in the same way) is also a murder
In high school my American Government teacher said the vanishing hitchhiker story happened to a friend of his. In his version it’s prom night and he picked up a lonely girl wearing a dress that was 30 years out of date. On the way home the girl complains it’s cold so friend has her wear his letterman’s jacket. Girl leaves with his jacket so he goes to retrieve it. A cranky old man tells him his daughter died 30 years ago coming home from prom and is buried at this cemetery. He goes to the cemetery and the jacket is on the gravestone. Teacher said he himself saw the girl. Personally I don’t believe him.
i distinctly remember el chupacabra was likely discovered to be a unique wolf/coyote or coyote/dingo or wolf/dingo hybrid previously unknown to science that strongly resembled the more canine depictions of this thing. this thing was upgraded from cryptid to documented animal, which is the wildest part. it also shows that things we previously feared might actually be more interesting the more we know and understand about it.

It can be for various reasons. I've both flashed and been flashed by drivers as a means of a warning that something was in the road like a dead deer and to be prepared to slow down to avoid hitting it. Other times, I will sometimes flash drivers if they are driving at me with their high-beams on. I often try to make it a note to let the other drivers see that I am turning my high-beams down as a curtesy and to not blind them but sometimes they often down do the same so I give them a quick flash as a means to try and get them to turn their brights off. Back when I lived in Louisiana, people would often flash their lights to let other drivers know that there was a cop sitting around the corner watching for speeding drivers.
The Mothman Prophecies movie is one of my favorite movies-so many people think it wasn’t that great but I LOVED it!! OMG!! My biggest fear is having a nasty bug going in any hole on my body and laying eggs or whatever!! It happens!!!! Have you ever seen botflies being pulled out of someone??? Omg no I wanna cry!! Worst is jiggers!! Omg Omg omg no!!! The poor people who have to deal with jiggers makes me sick because they’ll kill a person-haven’t seen any videos of jiggers…go watch if you dare!! It’s more scarier than any Urban Legend, paranormal activity or serial killer lol
I like the version where the party goer is the one who gets murdered. It just makes more sense. It's a stranger danger story that way, and the reverse way always bugged me.
Chupacabra actually started in the mid 90's and coincidentally, early descriptions match the alien from the movie "Species" which the person who saw the first Chupacabra had coincidentally just seen on video. Also you really excluded Cropsey in favour of Slenderman which isn't an urban legend but a creepy pasta?
No, I've never done Bloody Mary because there's nothing to gain. My mom actually watched A Stranger Calls when she was a babysitter. So it spooked her. Same with Blaire Witch when she was camping a lot. XD
Do you, fellow RUclipsrs wanna know something I’m thinking about making a horror movie featuring the hook man going up against the phantom killer since both of their hunting grounds takes place in the exact same area lovers Lane
There was this one dude that got roasted alive in front of an underground rap show. His name was Clarence. And rumors state that Clarence's parents had a real good marriage. Oh, wait. Wrong kind of urban.
Another version of the bloody merry urban legend, is to go into the bathroom alone, turn off the lights, and say her name 3 times while looking at the mirror. Was extra scary since the bathrooms, where I grew up, didn't have windows. So basically your in a dark room, with a mirror, supposing summoning something if ya dare. So it's neet to know it wasn't only my childhood that had that, and how there are different versions of it too
Slender man exist, only his real name is D@ETH and the form most humans that we meet him see is a very pale, black suited, tall man with a hat. Possible you think I am crazy but I met him before year's he tell me "IS NOT YOUR TIME YET" (I thought was a crazy old man) That day I had lost the bus, i learn later the same bus had a horrible accident

The slit mouthed woman is probably the scariest urban legend I’ve heard from a foreign country
In Australia, we usually flash our headlights to warn on coming traffic of a police speed trap. Virtually saying cop ahead, slow down.
Scariest has to be Slenderman...2 Girls literally tried to Kill their friend by stabbing her multiple times as a "Sacrifice to Slenderman".
That’s a creepy pasta not a urban legend
Religions have been made from less.
@@oldbean7150 the two girls trying to kill their friend really happened. It was a few years back and they were around 12 at the time.

Wish you would have referenced in the video the 1979 version of When a Stranger Calls instead of it's less than stellar 2006 version.
Some of us like the 2006 one more
@@danielrubinstein896 Showing the original would not have taken anyting away, but would have informed many that the original one was from 1979
@@TheRayInPV yeah, the opening of the original is perfect actually
Sheeeh they got slenderman he's deserve this top urban legends
Very scary but sounds interesting
I like the version where the party goer is the one who gets murdered. It just makes more sense. It's a stranger danger story that way, and the reverse way always bugged me.
The vanishing hitchhikers it's more international than most people think
Urban legends 😨
Chupacabra actually started in the mid 90's and coincidentally, early descriptions match the alien from the movie "Species" which the person who saw the first Chupacabra had coincidentally just seen on video.
Also you really excluded Cropsey in favour of Slenderman which isn't an urban legend but a creepy pasta?
Except now it’s just a coyote with a disorder
No, I've never done Bloody Mary because there's nothing to gain. My mom actually watched A Stranger Calls when she was a babysitter. So it spooked her. Same with Blaire Witch when she was camping a lot. XD
Nice
Can’t believe there’s still people who think slenderman is real despite him being made up and the actual guy who made him up saying so
People's POV: alright that's enough internet for today *a few seconds later* pees pants of scariness
Humans can lick too freaked me out so much the first time I heard it 😰
I really love urban legends I can't sleep with this urban legends a
Do you, fellow RUclipsrs wanna know something I’m thinking about making a horror movie featuring the hook man going up against the phantom killer since both of their hunting grounds takes place in the exact same area lovers Lane
There was this one dude that got roasted alive in front of an underground rap show. His name was Clarence. And rumors state that Clarence's parents had a real good marriage.
Oh, wait. Wrong kind of urban.
12:08 thanks for the late warning TOM! work on you timing for the future, tHaNkS
So it's neet to know it wasn't only my childhood that had that, and how there are different versions of it too
Lots of scary urban legends in Philippines.
Yes
Slender man exist, only his real name is D@ETH and the form most humans that we meet him see is a very pale, black suited, tall man with a hat.
Possible you think I am crazy but I met him before year's he tell me "IS NOT YOUR TIME YET" (I thought was a crazy old man)
That day I had lost the bus, i learn later the same bus had a horrible accident
