It seems like the Raiden has just enough chaff clear capability that it doesn't get screwed by a few remaining chaff units the same way most other units are. An overlord will waste a salvo on a couple of fangs, an upgraded raiden will blow them away and probably hit the thing you care about behind. It also can't overkill/shoot the same target because the animation is instant, so multiples stack really well. Multiple raidens also overcome the "downside" of crappy single target DPS pretty well, since having three raidens will kill 3 giants 3x faster than a single raiden will kill a single giant - so they scale effectively with numbers. Compare to anything else - 1 kills 1 the same speed as 3 kills 3, basically. I suspect Chain is the real problem, from what I've been seeing. Most normal DPS AA that hangs behind the battle line (like marksmen, Phoenixes, etc) get tangentially blown away by the chain bolts even with extra range, since chain basically adds +60 effective range. They have to be super far away to avoid getting killed. The only AA that probably doesn't die to a chain bolt is a Melter, really (so the Raiden actually has to get into range), but I'd much, much rather have 4 Raidens than 4 Melters. I guess farseer has also looked pretty good, actually - I've seen it wreck Raidens in a few videos so far - again, that HP probably helps a lot in it surviving long enough to kill them. Also, food for thought: AA Sandworms?
@@jordanb722 my go to has been large hp units. Sabers with field maintenance is pretty effective with some aa units. Typhoons actually work pretty well
@BinxyBrown it's way too strong. It's frustrating when the meta is so mono strategy. They'll tune it back soon. Every game people just play the same thing. In times like this in the past taking a few days off can be refreshing
It seems like the only counter to Raiden is building multiple layers of AA units. Even then, it doesn’t seem like a guarantee especially if the Raiden player builds decent chaff. Sounds like chaff and AA will need to be prioritized more than ever on early boards.
@@BlazeLyger I have found that very tanky units like sabers with field maintenance in front and some aa typhoons work really well. Played one yesterday like that. I'll try to put together a Raiden counter video soon

ya aa sandworm doesnt sound bad at all, good idea.
I have seen fort aa used effectively also.
@@Ragin08yeah but the issue is even if the typhoons can tank it the stuff that gets chained to behind the typhoons is still going to die

Sabre-toothed with secondary guns are really good against spider mines tarantula

@ Thank You 😁
I know that it’s best to counter them after you understand how they work
bearlike will be the biggest the counter
Very good video, shows how riddiculous this unit is
lmao nice new unit, guys. How do you not do exactly what Ragin’ is doing as play testing before release and not realize it’s stupidly op?
