Janet was unwilling to sacrifice her own values, integrity and personal artistic possibilities & desires for herself-created version of who she valued being most. And the industry FROWNS upon one's independence, who is unwilling to morph into the INDUSTRY's version of who they want you to be. Janet was LOYAL to herself and the dreams she had created all of her own.
Unfortunately, there are great opportunities for artists who are willing to conform to the industry's expectations of one's self. But for those who stand firm in their very own beliefs and actions, and are unwilling to force change... they literally put a ceiling on their world wide potential & recognition as an WORLD RENOWNED artist.
I enjoy the authenticity of this amazing artist. She is known all around the world! Maybe not some Taylor Swift level acknowledgement. But she is recognized and truly appreciated for her individuality and vocals. I was so moved by her original audition, that I bought that single. Some ppl don't desire the type of fame that depletes every ounce of peace from within your soul. I'm sure she knows who she is, and the possibilities that she passed up.
Wishing her love joy peace and happiness in all aspects of her life. 💕

To everyone hating on how the show changed her... it really didn't. Its now 2020 and she still dyes her hair that bright orangey red and dresses similar to this. Yoy need to understand that these shows are scripted to ensure they maintain views. They may have dulled her down in the beginng in order to let the audience focus on her voice and then changed her back near the end. Or, perhaps they did offer these changes to her and she loved them so much she kept that style. Either way she's totally successful and gorgeous today

I think she herself even said that she wanted to wear that stuff and the wardrobe department said they'd try to find things in her style (and let her wear docs instead of heels).
i would agree with you, except Janet has been pretty vocal in the past about wanting to go back to her natural blonde but her reddish hair has become such a big part of her irish songwriter appeal. if you check her comments or livestreams it really is 80% men commenting on her hair and appearance in general.
i think she's made a good compromise with the pinkish hair, and she loves her tattoos even though you know half those men want her to be their pure 16yo virgin forever, so im not saying that she caves to her fans constantly by any means, but she has this weirdly toxic older male fanbase and i think it's 100% because of X Factor and it's something she can't really escape.

What a rare and sweet voice. Today is the fist time I've heard this girl sing, and I'd have to say, she is such a beautiful person, with such a beautiful voice. Definitely one of the best I've ever heard.
Could listen top Janet all day long.. And THAT beautiful red Celtic hair..Perfect! I am so glad that she has faced her demons.. Good bless this angel sent to us from God above

what!! she was so interesting and unique the first two songs then they turned her into cookiecutter singer....WTF. she looks so much better herself too =.= and those song choices lead her to her elimination i think.

It was forgetting her words, not one week, but two. She had a lucky escape the first time. Though a lot of the later songs just weren’t right for her.
They changed her to sing songs that don't fit into the Celtic voice she has some can be changed but others can't. Brilliant singer.
My god. Her cover of I can't help falling in love with you and Sweet Child of Mine made me cry.

I think that her voice was created for songs like the one she used for her audition it completely befuddles me that she would sing songs like sweet child o' mine. Other than this i am completely in love with her singing

Her audition was perfection. We fell in love with Janet there. From that point on THEY changed her . . . sorry but her audition is the only true Janet. I still bought everything she has ever done and will continue to support this angel. I'd adopt her if I could just so I can protect her. She is so lovely.
Unbelievable!?!? First time I have seen this montage. How can the sweet voice and personality from the first audition be twisted so much!! I hope Janet turned her back on the X factor nonsence. She is an angel.
Agreed...her original auditions were SO GOOD...but the direction of that show for her was not good...you could absolutely see the light in her eyes dim with each performance...the last one we got to see a bit more of who we fell in love with! But overall, she was 100x’s better than the “fit” that show tried to put her in. Luckily she’s been making music since then, she’s found her way back to “her”... and she’s amazing! Love her as she is!!

Agreed..stunning voice! The show took her down a rabbit hole of “ok, change and fit in here”...NOPE (thankfully!)! She is absolutely wonderful exactly how she is and thankfully she has come back to that angelic voice we originally heard!,

I think the show helped her come out of her shell. To this day I don't think she realizes just how good and unique she truly is.
Her interpretation of Every Breath You Take, was spot on. I always felt that was the creepy stalker song. She nailed it on the head. I think I forgot to breath while I watched this. I can't believe how perfect that was. I would seriously buy her album.

What a voice, just incredible, wish she would make an album doing full versions of these covers, i know she likes to concentrate on her own songs but there is nothing wrong with great covers too !

The Sting song she sang “every breathe I take” was a Halloween 🎃 themed night and so all of the artists had to turn their chosen song into something that sounded creepy and scary to be in keep with the theme ... just in case anyone was wondering about the way she was dressed and the heavy make up situ - it was suppose to look heavy stage make up and suppose to look 👀 creepy .. I thought it was a clever turn around on that song. Love Janet Devlin! Working my way through her many albums at the moment! 💃 🧝🏼♀️ 🎶

The first time I fell in love with her voice was when she auditioned. That lead me to prefer her soft, slow songs. That time she was still timid and shy and kind of lost. That's the side of Janet I like best. It might be because I heard her cover of Your Song first, but I like that one the best.

There are some incredible new female vocalists, with range and qualities that are beautiful, like Carly Rose, Ella Henderson and Sam Bailey. I love their voices and techniques. However, and I can't give you technical reasons, but as far a voices go Janet Devlin mystifies like no other. I love the tones, the haunting movement of her vocals. I love how she covers other's songs. They become a unique experience. As a songwriter she is literally brilliant. Anyway, I don't have a "Why Janet?" A day doesn't go by when I don't listen to covers and songs on her album at one time or another. Completely mystified (Hoping she visits the States in the near future ... if not I might have to travel to Europe) :-)
May I reply to that because I completely agree.....yes, that's the word...mystify,,,you are right about Ella, Carly Rose, Sam and may I add Rebecca Ferguson, but Janet's voice mystifies like no other...there's that quality of childlike innocence, shyness & sincerity when she sings...hope she doesn't lose that.., why Janet indeed
Many many people are able to sing above average, but this girl is "unique". A very special talent, that when you first hear her, there's no doubt you are listening to a future star. Perfect innocence, style, an off the chart voice. Thank you Mr. and Mrs Devlin.
