Franco Zeffirelli’s dazzling vision of mythic China retakes the stage, with soprano Christine Goerke as the legendary-and lethal-title princess, opposite tenor Roberto Alagna as the valiant prince who puts his life on the line to win her love. Soprano Angel Blue as Liù, with basse Peixin Chen as Timur. Maestro Oksana Lyniv makes her Met debut leading Puccini’s rousing score.

What a dream cast..except for the conductor. Insensitive, poorly executed conducting, but brilliant singing -What a pleasure to see Alagna again in the Met! I wish he would sing there more often-he owns the stage, he honours and mesmerises his colleagues and his voice and acting is better than ever. Thank you for this tantalising snippet from the performance-this is the one that should be seen in the cinemas.

Thanks! Wish I'd seen this cast with Angel. Saw the Friday, April 19th with someone else (I forget) as Liu. Alagna is a marvel. Goerke was flat, flat, flat. My God!!!
