I believe the moral of this story is anything can happen at anytime to anybody so fast that even when you are paying attention to your surroundings, in an instant you have to switch to survival mode. You felt that protecting others is just as important to just protecting yourself.A sense of humor is a sense of life. Stay Blessed ✌️&❤️
Wild story!! Glad you survived to share it, I consider myself very lucky to have never been shot with all the crazy situations I was around as a younger me. 🤔
Rocko glad you still here. You fuckin new Yorkers are out your minds anyhow ☺ summer 2009 I was in east New York at a cookout, cypress hill. That big ass park? Friends of mine from there. in the day? All love. Broads, the dudes errybody was cool. My boy mak and his brother mo are from their but they ain't have no license to drive there from p a. So I drove. Soon as the sun went down? The girls vanished and all the dudes went from having smiles and laughs to having these FUCKED up looks on they faces. Like the sun changing to the moon transformed em or some shit. Whispered to mak "yo look around you right now" 😂😂 we gave daps and was GONE ✌
This is our generation I guess. I'm the same age as Rock. I live in middle of nowhere Midwest. I've had to duck & dodge bullets at clubs/parties, seen someone get unalived. It got real, real quick. It was just how it was, everywhere at that time. I appreciate that late 1900's quip, lol. Make me feel old as hell. 🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫
I appreciate this story. It's very relatable. I'm maybe 2 years younger than you so essentially of the same era. We had cats back then that were overly gully and involved in all types of sh*t..and on the other extreme some that might be deemed what they'd call square. Of course I don't know all the ins and outs of how you came up..but from the story it sounds similar to how I did. A cat in the hood..not really with the drug trade like that..but cool and tapped in with what's going on. Knows the more involved crowd. A Hip Hop head who was known for spittin'. In a group and/or a duo. I'm from Harlem but went to Brooklyn Tech so at 16 I was all over Fort Greene and the Stuy. I also got shot..at 17. It was a bit more serious but I made out good too. So salute to that. For both of us. The shorties out here now got it bad. The minimum requirement for a shorty to be what they like to call "outside" is way worse than what we went through in my opinion. Our era I feel was more direct and in your face, with being hard. We didn't entertain any of the fruity looking sh*t. But a lot of them now, have to be in a gang, or heavily affiliated. They have to have a resume of work. Some have to have bodies or attempts..and among them, a lot of times it has to be more than 2. We were able to rap..multisyllablize and have fire punchlines..and wow any cypher we were in..and we got respect and comradery. If these shorties rap..It could be trash or just ok, but they better have a resume to back up, what better be some violent heavily involved sh*t..or they're a "dub". It's crazy. 🔫🔫🔫🔫 🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤
RIP SEAN P 👌🏿‼️ROCK WHY ??AND HOW YOU WRITE THE HELTAH SKELTAH HERE WE COME INTRO :" HERE WE COME" EVERY SONG ON THE LP TITLE IS IN THE VERSE NEVER HEARD THAT BEFORE OR AFTER ‼️💯🕋🏁
Hey Yo Mr. Rockness Monsta! I'm excited to Brag about the Fact that I just Bought the Boot Camp Clik Chosen Few Vinyl AND CD Off of Amazon for a little bit more than 200$, And I want to tell you why It was So Important For me to Buy THAT Album. And the explanation, it's the song Think Back and especially what General Steele said when he said "Don't need dough to Shine. All you gotta do is Be True to Who YOU is!..." I had even Gone to a Smiff-N-Wessun Show in the two or three months before I really started listening to the song, and the hook to the song See The Light Called to my Soul, like A story that The RZA told in his book The Tao Of Wu. Except I was too scared to Act On That 'Call.' But now, I've decided I'm gonna change that 100 percent and start Listening to Think Back and See The Light by Smif-N-Wessun, which I also just Bought. And I'm gonna Saturate my mind with the messages from these two songs, maybe also with some other Boot Camp songs, and hopefully I'll make it as a 'Rapstar' Like it said in the hook of the song Smif-N-Wessun Performed at that Show! So, that's what I wanted to tell you, Sir Mr. Rockness Monsta, and now I'm just gonna Bounce! So, that's It.
Peace. Story is capturing lord. I love doing the Knowledge to stories, videos, and documentaries of The old Medina. I’m in the wilderness of Savior Cee, however my Enlightener is from Howard houses, currently residing in Breevort. Peace
Rock, I know this is entirely unrelated to the video but, did you ever have any other career goals before you decided to become a rapper? Since you are pretty tall did you ever play basketball in your youth? Did you have career goals like construction worker, doctor, school teacher, scientist, mechanic or anything like that? Since you are my favorite rapper & one of my favorite celebrities over all, these are just questions I've always wanted to know. In the 90's when I first became a big fan of Heltah Skeltah & Boot Camp I never thought I'd be able to talk to my favorite hip-hop artist online. This is such an overwhelmingly great feeling that the fans now get to have so much interaction with their favorite celebrities. & it was a great video. I would love to hear more of your Brownsville stories. Keep the great vids comin, Rock. ✊🏾😎
I'm quite sure Ruck (R.i."P") told you about the pizza 🍕 shop incident! And I'm sure both you and Ruck had a plethora of adventures in and around the Brownsville, Ocean Hill, Canarsie areas of Brooklyn! Tales of the livest Emcees!🔫🔫🔫🔫
Salute my guy much respect and God bless you have more life to enjoy and create sad to hear it though I been in something similar it changed me but salute I’m always in support and oh 🔫🔫🔫🔫
