A lot of truckers I see at the truck stops probably couldn't climb up onto a flatbed if their life depended on it.
I could do it but I'm sure they wouldn't pay me enough to do so
😂😂😂
Lmaoooo
Truth😂
😂😂😂😂😂 facts!
I am a flatbed driver. I gave up on box van to pull flatbed and haven't looked back. Love being a flatbed driver.
I'm a flatbed dispatch, cheers!
What company did you train with?
I am about to start flatbed and then going heavy haul.
I'm going back to flatbed... I'm pulling a reefer right now I've gained weight I feel like s*** I just need to be outside more. I know that sounds silly, But flatbed helps motivate me and my ADHD stupid brain. One more week of pulling a reefer and I'm done, going to flatbed.
I went from beer distribution and food service to flatbed. It’s not fun when the weather sucks, but honestly, flatbed is really enjoyable to me. I love that I can stay active securing loads and that the loads vary and it keeps you on your toes! Coming from beer/food, flatbed is fun! I just started with a company that uses Conestoga trailers which are new to me. Been a very enjoyable 3 weeks so far. Love the learning process and acquiring new skills! I’ll be staying with flatbed for a long time! Dry van/reefer is just boring to me now…
Yea flatbed is easier for us delivery cdl drivers.
Flatbed is physical work. Period. It is not for everyone. Stay parked at the dock if you cant put 100% into your securement. Laziness will lead to someones death.
Repetitive stress injuries are also no joke. I'll keep my arms intact. Back too (what's left of it).
How long does the average load take to strap? Just curious as a dry guy
@@CriticaLLout 30 to 45 minutes.
@@mjmclaughlin720I can’t imagine loading that long during the freezing winter temps 😮💨
@@mjmclaughlin720thinking about switching just to have experience with something else
I actually made the least amount of money doing flatbed vs. dry van and shipping containers. But that was one company. Spend a whole lot of extra time waiting to get loaded and tarping, that doesn’t pay 💰 off. And tarping sucks!!
same
i make way more money running van
Same here
I'm gonna stick with flatbed just don't wanna tarp lol. Conestoga here we come
100% spot on. Flatbed/ heavy haul driver for 7 years and wouldn’t trade it for any other division of trucking. I personally appreciate the opportunity to stay in shape with the physical work, plus there’s room for growth and more money with the different kinds of open deck trailers you can pull. Flat, step, double drop deck, RGN lowboy etc. Never gets old to me.
I'm a flatbed dispatch, cheers!
How did you get into flatbed? I drive regular trailers but I’d love to go flatbed
I’m starting out. Is flatbed as physical as food service? I did food service for a month but couldn’t take that ramp. Is flatbed better or worse. Looking at that before dry van
I started off hotshotting pipeline/oilfield equipment then moved to a reefer now I’m hauling crane equipment around the Houston area. Nothing like throwing around some 3/4” chain
I just started flatbed driving. It humbled me real quick. My body aches but I can’t wait to get past that and learn more
I'm a flatbed dispatch, cheers!
I love being able to pickup/delivery pretty much whenever the shipper/receiver is open. Some loads are strict appointments but most of the time the places you go are pretty flexible.
+ get some sun and get your heart rate up-it’s really not that much more work.
Good stuff
I love my flatbed!
Love to see it!
I've been flat bedding when does the sexy start:(
🤣🤣
Umm I’ve never done dry van I’ve only done flat bed I can honestly say it doesn’t pay for shit I’m only averaging about 1000 a week and to me that sucks especially when I live out on the road and I work up a sweat securing my load even more when I have to tarp
Leaving flatbed now for chemical tanker
Hope do you like the switch so far? I'm doing dry van looking to get into tanker
How cute is he 😚
He’s really adorable
@@DonCorelone647
Yeah he very much so is 😊
....
Yes sir I know that right. Love pulling that skateboard around. I've been driving 31 years flatbed for 21 years.
this guy smokes love it lol
And sisters! Lol
Yessss and sisters🤗keep rocking it Raven👍
Been one 15 yrs its hard af!
Love the video. Love hauling flatbed!😅
bro is jacked!
More pay not in my experience dirty hot and takes more time away from driving
With electronic log books no I'll stick to pulling my end dump
I’m flatbed and my company pays about 10cpm more for flatbed vs van. Problem is I spend so much time securing that I’m not getting paid for. I get paid to tarp but anything else like strapping/chaining I’m doing for free. I haven’t pulled van or reefer but I know they get less cpm. But also I feel like they could make just as much since they don’t lose so much time securing loads and can keep their wheels turning longer. It currently takes me between 1-3 hours to secure a load depending on what it is.
But bro if your making more than 80k.. whats the issue?
Flatbed for life baby!!!
I agree!!! How about sisters of the road...so how do you stay in shape...the muscle gain..how do you eat?
Work out when you stop it can be done without weights.💪😊
Heyyy yes I should have said sisters too. 🤗check out some of my earlier videos on fitness on the road. I also try to plan my stops at the end of my day somewhere there is a gym I can park at and I get a free shower along with it lol. I try to meal prep so I can eat fairly clean.
You eat high amounts of protein or just simply eat clean
No thank you
Strapping and tarping in minus zero temperature or in burning hot weather? Naaahh
I’ll stick with my dry van
Open and close my trailer doors and back to my cab with nice AC or heat
That’s the life
I love my flatbed job. I like the problem-solving with Load securement and the physical aspect also.
Do you have an email I can reach you. I have my license and it’s hard to trying yo find the right company
For the flatbed drivers: what’s Your experience been when first starting to flatbed.
I’m thinking going flatbed. I’ve been doing dry van for 3 years. It’s cool but it gets boring after a while just sitting driving and thats all. I need something a bit challenging to put my mind working
Thank you for the video big dog 🙏
The responsibility is the reason I went to flatbed. Like he said wooweewoo screwing over his head. Lol
No need for pt2 I’m already convinced
Been doing open deck for 7 years. Everything from 5 to 7 axle
how many miles per day do flatbed drivers drive?
I need his formula man looks good
Owner operator flat bed drivers are really where it's at.
Love my Conestoga
Do you have flatbed crossing US border?
Anyone that hauls from midwest to ND?
And sisters 💪
Ya right skippy talk to me after you put in 45 years and 4.5 million miles and your back hurts and you hip wears out climbing in and out of the truck and working in the rain the heat and frozen straps dealing with permits curfews the D.O.T. inspections tarping and all the rest of those wonderful fun things we have to do to keep our loads our self and others safe .Now don't get me wrong I loved doing it but Sexy ? not happening .
I was a flatbed driver!
I'm pulling a flatbed I wouldn't want to change it it's a lot of fun an good money
But does it pay more 😂
That is an EXCELLENT question
Those Conestoga's
Done flatbed it don't pay like it use to and they don't barely pay for tarping. And no matter how hard you tighten the load and i have done it tighten down the load until lumber cracks, straps snap, anything. Some entitled driver cuts you off and you have to slam on the brakes that load will shift. Good luck getting to the receiver after that.
What do you know another old man as a trucker as to br expected if their young and a trucker theirs an accident on their record
Local delivery driving has no competition when it comes to high physical in the trucking industry. Literally, the majority of them have a high turnover rate.
take a good look at the flat bed rolling down the road that not good securement
I'm thinking about it 🤔
I’ll run anything that doesn’t have a swingin’ door attached!
Tank is better.
I would never be a flatbed bcz it pays poor
Need a trucking job please
I've always wanted to be a truck driver but honestly I'm terrified. But I've played this game called Euro truck simulator 2 I have about like 2,000 hours in it I love that game My only issue is reversing the cargo I have a hard time doing that I'm also using a keyboard and mouse sometimes use a controller I don't have a proper setup play that game.
Do you guys hire owner operators ?!
Yall get paid the least what ads you talking about man 😭😂😂
I'll stick with dry van no touch freight, I'm too beat an old for all that chain throwing.
I'm tryin to get my cdl & get into flatbed; but b/c I live in florida its makein it damn near impossible!!
Why??
@@NoRevengeNeeded THE company's that "train & get u ur cdl" won't do that if u live in florida-- Like TMC-- said if I had my cdl they'd hire me, but won't take me to get me my cdl, swift won't take me cause I want flatbed & they only run flatbed out of arizona.. Which means I'd have to go to school to get my cdl 1st, 7-8grand for school, try to work 10+ hrs a day & go to school 8hrs a day; & no jobs around here pay enough to be able to afford to live & save the money for school. And I've bn doin my line of work (industrial Maintenance mechanic/welder, fabricator) for 20years, so its NOT just sum b/s or me findin' excuses, sayin its just gonna b too hard. I did find that the local state college has cdl program- 4wks long, & grants still available, but I currently "make too much" so don't qualify. But!!!! Prime, Inc. has made sum changes to hiring area, so I've bn accepted to their program-- FINALLY, gettin my chance!!! Just gotta keep ur head down, don't take NO for an answer & find a way. Even if that means "temporarily" moving out of Florida. But luckily, with Prime, I'm NOT gonna have to do that
@@jeffjohnson2789 how's that working out for you?
Is bro strapping down forklifts? Never use straps on any tip of equipment
Don't forget all the extra inspections and fines you'll get. Easiest target for the DOT quotas. Not to mention all the great injuries.
ew wylie a good company?
Until you're tarpping in the rain and blowing wind and then there's winter! Fck no!
Yeah 😄😄😄👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Flat beds are so blah. But still are one of my favourites to work on.
Flatbeder here but I was a bed bugger for years so flatbed is easy as hell for me
I have a lawncare buisness but if i could do it over I would probably have gotten my CDL
If you're doing well in Lawn Care, I wouldn't feel angst in driving these things. I've been doing it for 12 yrs and it isn't as glamorous as sm makes it out to be. The pay isn't that great until you pay your dues, around 5 years of experience or so. A lot of time away from home. Healthy food options are scant & a LOT of time alone. If you do decide to try it, start what this man tells ya. Flatbedding is more interesting. Keeps the weight off ya, the load times aren't as stringent as van trailers ( especially reefer) & skate boards don't struggle on a windy day near much as van trailers. An empty van in high winds is susceptible to rolling over.
Kool
As company driver, flatbed is torture, driver make the same money as dry van and reefer driver, bit owner operator is a different story
The down side of flatbed driving is buying them. A. There are inferior heavy models that try to get forced on you. B. Finding a bargain flatbed is rarer than a 3 legged ballerina. .....Keep your lazy straps. I like lots of ropes and cargo nets.
Don't forget your out in the rain, snow, knee deep in mud and constantly full of sweat. Falling off the trailer could be the end of flatbed for u..... I love it tho...
Seriously don't come over to the dark side
Lol
Right now pay rate fucking cheap
I joined the dark side in February after 3 years of dolr swinging,so far no regrets
Really no more money in flatbed than anything else . Spend biggest part or the day wating around a steel mill waiting to load .
Flatbed was the worst
Is there Visa sponsorship??
Quick Some one get this guy some steroid badi blooh blahh😂
Is that an 8 Mile reference I see?
Depends what part of the country you'll make money and the dot will be on you more often
I don’t mind the physical labor and I wouldn’t mind the tarping but I am afraid that something will or might fall off my truck that’s the only reason why I don’t do flatbed
No thanks
chain snipe upper cuts.. keep yer chin out of the line of fire
😂….. you ever read something for the first time ever but know exactly what was meant? 😆😂 I imagine some teeth on the ground after one of those
@@18wheelimili13 a hard lesson to learn that for sure😎😎
Access to steroids obviously 😂😂
Flatbed pays better than what? Dry van? LOL! Look at all of the flatbeds you see. More than half are empty. They arent making money when they are empty. That was a hint.
Most men can't handle it long...
Yeah because the pay sucks
Bro the truck carrying pipes in your video is not proper secured. Not even barely legal
Seems half the guys doing flat deck out there nowadays have no clue what they're doing.... Nor do they seem to have any pride or shame.... Lots of buzzing straps and wavy tarps 🙄🤦🏼♂️
Nah....too much responsibility.
Tarping is where it's at fellas
They don't test for steroids?
6
dont need to worry about fixing your tandoms
Reefer work is king. My DAF XF doesn't like flatbed work. It's gutless....thanks Paccar(Yankee) rubbish.
I think about it all the time but nobody hires new drivers 🧐🙃
Hang in there bro talk to those drivers when you can ask questions, learn from them ,I was out there 45 years this guy makes it sound easy ,that's far from the truth .I was a heavy oversize long hauler most of my life and it does have it's rewards and don't be afraid to tarp yes it's work but the more skills you have the more valuable you are .low boy's step decks, doubles, stretch decks permit's ,curfews it's all part of the game .learn the ropes and you'll make it .never stop asking questions and learning new skills and i can't stress this enough safety first last and always .I was not always the fastest to get loaded and tied down but i never lost or damaged a load .or endangered the public or myself .Good luck youngster .
@@loganjohnson3589 I’m happy to say that I’m into my 3rd month as a heavy haul flatbed driver since I posted this. I appreciate the encouragement🙏💪 I’m feeling very blessed these days 🙂
Show-offs and OO go in to flatbed, if you don't need the money by all means do flatbed
Hey my fellow steroid addicts
I’ll pass
Dork
