- The Tokyo Monorail is one of my favorite monorails in the world. It has fast speeds, a smooth ride, and express trains! In this video, there are many shots of express trains zooming past stations, which is very unique for monorails!
The Tokyo Monorail offers the Haneda Express Train (空港快速), the Rapid Train (区間快速), and the Local Train (普通).

Never imagine monorail can be that fast..Japan is totally superior in train technology
This makes transfers from Haneda airport to downtown fast, smooth, and very easy. And it offers some great views along the way.

I'd love to have that in my hometown of Winnipeg, Canada. But our city is too shortsighted. In the early 70s Mayor Stephen Juba wanted a monorail like this for $20 M. He didn't get his wish, and we are stuck with a BRT instead.

I've just begun planing my first Japan trip - something I've been dreaming of ever since I was little. I'll be flying into Haneda, so this monorail will be my first and last impressions of Japan!

+Iain Hendry Enjoy your trip to Japan!! It is a great country, especially for rail fans! Do you have any specific destination in Japan in mind?
I have the trip planned out in almost 5 minute increments! :) I'll be riding 9 AGT systems, Linimo, vising 2 railway museums, the Yamanashi Maglev test line, 9 theme parks plus riding various Shinkansen and commuter rail lines. It's a pretty packed schedule.
+Iain Hendry You will have a fantastic time, I'm sure. I really, really love the Linimo! I visited the railway museum outside of Tokyo, and I had to ride the New Shuttle AGT system to get there! I also liked the SCMaglev and Railway Park in Nagoya. When do you leave?
Spring 2016! The friend I'm going with (also a rail fan, not his first time there) wants to go during the Cherry Blossom season, so he's done most of the planning around that time frame. I was thinking about trying to contact some of the transit operators to see if I might be able to get us a tour of their maintenance shops, but I think that might be pushing my luck. I see that Yurikamome has an open house coming up at the end of this month, but they only announced it a few weeks in advance.

The grade on the monorail probably looks more severe than it actually is because if the zoom shot. Monorails do have great climbing abilities though!
