I own 15 BC Rich guitars ranging from early 80's to 2012. I can say the best ones are the early ones some of the 90's ones and if you get the right one the 2000's. My 7string warlock is a solid monster of a guitar. My 86' ironbird is a thing of beauty. wether or not you like the pointy guitars - you cant deny bc rich CAN make works of art.
I want to say someone spilled beer on this Bass. But I suppose if it smells like piss, then I'd say someone drank too much beer, passed out, pissed their pants and got most of it on their Bass. LOL.
I don't really know why I watch these videos....I mean, I play guitars...but I don't fix or repair guitars. Nor do I have an aspiration to run projects on them....these videos are just TOO damn entertaining for some reason...love this guy
I just did a repair on the 6 string version, it's got a wraparound badass style bridge, the wood is so soft that the bridge bushings were pulling out of the guitar and it was tuned down to C! I can't imagine what would have happened if it was tuned to standard A440. I got it fixed but I can't guarantee how long it will stay that way! I've always hated BC Rich guitars.
If you're going to buy a BC Rich, you have to get a vintage one from the late 70's to the mid 80's when Bernie Rico Sr. ran the company. After he left, quality control went way down. Now, they're just about using wild shapes to cover up shitty tone woods, hardware and electronics. That's why a lot of newer BC Rich's can be bought with pocket change practically.
+6672rock BC Rich was sold. What generally happens then is that the owner cashes in on the brand's reputation, by outsourcing production to asia and lowering quality, destroying the brand in the process. Sometimes they keep a small custom shop in the US that builds original quality (but overpriced) instruments to keep the brand alive. This also happened to Kramer, Steinberger, and sort of happened to Valley Arts (partly sold to Samick) and Jackson. Dean too, until it was rebooted and focussed on the US market again.
My buddy has one he bought when we were in high school (early 90s and it was ussd) and he still has it. Great guitar actually. Not sure of the model. Its not pointy at all. Just a regular looking guitar although its some weird minty green color. I can tell just by looking at the neck that it is one of better quality B.C.Rich instruments. I play bass so I dont pay much attention to 6 strings.
Man, i love your videos, hahaha... besides the jokes, I really appreciate your dedication and will to share what you have learnt over the years of doing what you do. I do learn a lot from you, sir. Thank you. Regards from a Venezuelan in Houston, TX!.
The newer Steinbergers have a similarly odd set up for bridge saddles. Except, instead of an independent carrier/saddle arrangement, they have a single block for a saddle that sits shoulder to shoulder with the other saddles and adjusts string height fore and aft of the saddle peak. In the side of the bridge there's a set screw that applies tension after you've set the intonation and locks it all in place.
Hey Dave, sorted the amp out, I cranked it right up and slapped it real hard and the light came on, I can turn it up to 7.5 and the light doesn't come on, I imagine my basses give off a low signal either that or trace expect people to play their basses with a hammer!
Hey! I like your vids very much. I also thank you for the comparison between a P-bass and a Rickenbacker. A friend of mine bought a Rickenbacker for about 1300€ (I don't know how much it's in Canadian Dollars:)), after three months of playing he sold it, because it wasn't a instrument for live gigs (got always out of tune) I bought a Squier!!!! P- Bass for 310€. Its always in tune, sounds great and is an absulute reliable instrument. So thank you (Sry for my bad english) Greetings from Vienna :)
i would only recommend Bc Rich instruments for Metal only. Except maybe their Eagle and Mockingbird models but the Eagle bass models are hard to find, and the mockingbird bass are about 700 US$
It's funny that you mention the headstock breaking on pointy guitars like that. I bought a used ESP LTD (Guitar in my profile pic) and the headstock was already missing a big chunk from it. Got a pretty good deal for it because of that.
@davey4557 Hope you don't mind ask but, I've got a Trace Elliot GP7SM 200 bass head and it works fine except the peak overload on the input socket doesn't seem to do anything. The bulb works because when I put my lead into the bass it flicks on as the jack makes contact, but I can turn the input dial to max and it doesn't register as overloading. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Apologies up front if I'm being stupid and missing something. Keep posting the great vids.
@davey4557 Basically it's just a light that comes on if your input level from the bass is too high and you adjust the input volume knob so that at most it blinks and doesn't stay on all the time, I think it's there so you don't blow the speakers or distort the sound too much, anyway I've tried it with the volume knob in my bass at full and the input volume knob on full and the light doesn't come on when really it should.the bulb is working so I can rule that out, it's probably not such a big d
THESE TYPE OF BASS ARE UNCOMFORTABLE BUT I LOVE THEIR SOUND. I HAVE A B.C. RICH WORLOCK SO I TRADED ITS PIKUPS AND ELECTRONICS TO MY IBANEZ GIO AND NOW IT SONUND BETTER AND A LOT MORE COMFORTABLE
@90Stealth i have one they play verry good but (and its actually a big but) if you play alot sitting this ain't a good one but if you play alot of stand up they good but (even a bigger but) bc rich doesn't produce them anymore in bass only son of beasts in guitar so if you really want one try to get one second hand or maybe some stores have one or more in stock if you don't find any i can recomend an ltd f series
Dave!! i just got myself a B.C Rich Warbeast, i don't mind the pointy ends this one seems sturdy enough, it doesn't have any chips and scratches brand spanking new, and anyways i was wondering how to adjust the intonation, do you have to take the strings off, how to move the saddles back and forward, do i turn the allen key right or left, which way? this bridge is way too smart for me, please i need help :(
it is the exact same bridge you dealt with, it even has the same placement for the allen hole on top to the right, thing is, is that im afraid to strip the allen screw or do something wrong
Dave this is a beast , B. C. rich bass, that is a a very fine neck thru bass that is made out of very top grade mahogany and probably a maple and walnut neck, they are very good instruments , they are what you would call a stage instrument really not intended to be a practice instrument!! And ppl like me that love the extreme shaped v style and pointy style instruments love these things! I know it's not from your generation and I get it man it show a lil love man! And kill it with the hygiene jokes , we get it , it's dirty, that's what the make cleaner and polishes and such! You really need to step outside your generation a bit and look into other styles instruments man , there's a lot cool stuff out there brotha!!!!
Would you happen to know where I can order replacement parts for the saddle pieces on the bridge? I had a local shop owner order a piece in from B.C. Rich themselves and they sent him something more like off of a fender bridge rather than the small saddles I find on mine. Apparently that's all they had. Same exact model as the baby in this video. Any help would be appreciated!
@90Stealth You do not need a metal bass for anything... mostly because a metal bass is just a bass with bad tone... Steve Harris uses a P bass... Ian Hill uses a Spector, John Myung uses a MusicMan... Stick with stuff like that (: not the fabled "metal bass"... Even King Ov Hell (former bass player and song writer for Gorgoroth) sticks to Stingrays and Ibanez'es (the SR series)... If he doesn't need a "metal bass"... you don't :b
@davey4557 i was told that the end of the neck on the beast basses where they get chipped, its just their nature... when i got mine thats what i was told... thx for the vid and your videos are funny btw
lets play... "NAME THAT TUNE"... i can name that tune in three notes davey... OK, nick, for the grand prize... NAME THAT TUNE!!! N.I.B. by Black Sabbath your moto should be... bring me your crap and I'll turn it into roses... LOL!!! great work dave CHEERS!!!
Honestly, for as cool as it may look, it seems like a weird sound, and that headstock would be better without the points, could even hack off that upper horn above the neck
I own 15 BC Rich guitars ranging from early 80's to 2012. I can say the best ones are the early ones some of the 90's ones and if you get the right one the 2000's. 9:30 "Salmon fishing" that killed me !!
I want to say someone spilled beer on this Bass. But I suppose if it smells like piss, then I'd say someone drank too much beer, passed out, pissed their pants and got most of it on their Bass. LOL.
Nah, just pissed on the fretboard to clean it. It's cheaper than citrus oil.
And a little Black Sabbath to sweeten the deal. :-)
I don't really know why I watch these videos....I mean, I play guitars...but I don't fix or repair guitars. Nor do I have an aspiration to run projects on them....these videos are just TOO damn entertaining for some reason...love this guy
I don't even know how to play a guitar and I love watching! Great sense of humor!
I love how you’re playing Black Sabbath come down with the devils mask 😅😅😅That was the perfect ending!
I just did a repair on the 6 string version, it's got a wraparound badass style bridge, the wood is so soft that the bridge bushings were pulling out of the guitar and it was tuned down to C! The fuckin end is amazing
HEY DAVE IF IT IS LOADED WITH PEE AND SMELLS LIKE PEE, THEN IT IS A REAL P-BASS RIGHT? LOL JOHN DZAMA
I love this. I'm almost tempted to send you one of my first beginner basses just to see your reaction to the "improvements" I made to it
The best thing to do with a BC Rich Guitar is to put it on the fire.
It should keep you warm for a while!
David Mcque I like to play it instead of making a campfire of it
+David Mcque I've played 70s era BC rich Eagles and Mockingbirds...they were gorgeous...and I've played the newer ones...not so much...
ferox965 same here, new BC' s are pawn shop junk right from the factory ,they feel like playing a fish skeleton .
David Mcque NO my B. C. Rich Beast NJ stays in tune always.

I find it so cool that you played "Black Sabbath," and Geezer just so happens to by my bass influence.
Brilliant point about the headstock being made to chip as soon as you get it home ha ha! Very true!
Man, i love your videos, hahaha... besides the jokes, I really appreciate your dedication and will to share what you have learnt over the years of doing what you do. I do learn a lot from you, sir. Thank you. Regards from a Venezuelan in Houston, TX!.
This has gotta be one of your best videos davey lol

Oh, Dave! You never fail to make me laugh my ass off on every one of your videos!
I've watched a ton of DWOFS vids. This one's my favorite. Lotta laughs...
gracias 4 making the vid davey4557!!!
Love B.C Rich basses n guitars!
9:04 I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going...........

Greetings from Vienna :)
Oh Fuck ***** you made me laugh so hard at the "diaper of the beast" part!
dude, you are a riot! love these videos!
"Morticia, come quick!" :)
This is Legendary man, simply Legendary :), i'm tellin ya you got to go do a stand up guitar comedy, keep em' coming !
i would only recommend Bc Rich instruments for Metal only. Except maybe their Eagle and Mockingbird models but the Eagle bass models are hard to find, and the mockingbird bass are about 700 US$
High end Beasts are beautiful in the 6 string range.
You should have your own comedy series, Dave
It's funny that you mention the headstock breaking on pointy guitars like that. I bought a used ESP LTD (Guitar in my profile pic) and the headstock was already missing a big chunk from it. Got a pretty good deal for it because of that.
i love your vids man so entertaining
That bass is awesome
This made my day. I haven't laughed so hard in awhile. That was so awesome! You should charge by the point. Haha
@Deathrape2001 dude the "Big Al" is made with basswood, i have one and they are a dream to play
man i have been watching you work on basses and cant stopped laughin , does the owners of those basses know you make this videos ?
@davey4557

Dave, were you playing this through 10" speakers? It sounds pretty cool to me!
this is easily one of the funniest videos on all of youtube. i am crying laughing here
Davey, you are awesome!!!
P.S I KNEW IT!!! once i saw your second vid i knew you were canadian... im also canadian
"...some STEEL WOOL!!..."
-At this point, the guitar shat itself.
@JesseMathews Dave's one liners are great. "Diaper of the Beast" way to go hahah!
love the ending
THESE TYPE OF BASS ARE UNCOMFORTABLE BUT I LOVE THEIR SOUND. I HAVE A B.C. RICH WORLOCK SO I TRADED ITS PIKUPS AND ELECTRONICS TO MY IBANEZ GIO AND NOW IT SONUND BETTER AND A LOT MORE COMFORTABLE
Deal but it'd be nice to have my amp working like it's supposed to. Thanks for your time
What is the purpose of the shim between the neck and body? To remove the dimple on the neck heel?
I notice the bottle of Canadian mist in the background. if I had to work on crap like this i'd drink too.

I have a dozen BCR's I need gone over to double check my work. You Interested?? I have every type of pointy BCR you would love to poke yourself on.
Will this be a good Starter for bass ?
Mainly playing brit rock/indie rock
Around the price of £130 ( 2nd hand )
I wonder if you ever worked on a fretless bass guitar.
Dave this is a beast , B. C. rich bass, that is a a very fine neck thru bass that is made out of very top grade mahogany and probably a maple and walnut neck, they are very good instruments , they are what you would call a stage instrument really not intended to be a practice instrument!!

A comedy like Home Improvement with Tim The Tool Man Taylor. You could even have your very own Pamela Anderson.
Hey Dave, How much would it cost me if I gave you a set of custom shop 54 pickups for you to install into my stratocaster. My strat has pickups in it.
Was that poor bass involved in a three way or the bass player for R Kelly?
I hate to tell you this, but I love it when you fix guitars that you hate...sorry man, but it makes for good video. (And thanks for all of the info)
@90Stealth For metal I would find a good Ibanez. Something for the Sr400 line or up
Guitars and basses made in Korea always have mile high action.
Cool video :) I thought it sounded pretty good, too, with those P pickups.
'Play with the beast' sounds like getting married.
what do you have to say about yamaha basses and guitars?
THE DIAPER OF THE BEAST!!!!! Fucking hilarious. Love this guy
one of your funniest video's Dave
Wow how many windings on the tuner pegs..
Los potenciómetros son de 250k o 500k ?
Would you happen to know where I can order replacement parts for the saddle pieces on the bridge? I had a local shop owner order a piece in from B.C. Hahaha. The diaper of the beast. Awesome ending
@davey4557 i was told that the end of the neck on the beast basses where they get chipped, its just their nature... when i got mine thats what i was told... thx for the vid and your videos are funny btw
I'll take it off your hands for ya Dr. Dave, No problem bro!!
Its meant to be played standing up
Can't go wrong with Ibanez basses.
sandpaper shim? great.
hahahahahah I love this shit man
got me laugh for hours!!! hahaha damnnnnnnnn
I love this demo once again!!!!!!
the end of the body goes on your leg, not the bottom, it's played like a V
Pickle fork!!
lets play... "NAME THAT TUNE"...
i can name that tune in three notes davey...
OK, nick, for the grand prize... NAME THAT TUNE!!!
N.I.B. by Black Sabbath
your moto should be... bring me your crap and I'll turn it into roses... LOL!!!
great work dave
CHEERS!!!
I got two of these and they're the worst possible xD Do love the look though.
you sound like Goerge Carlin ! you're funny and entretaining
holy shit sandpaper as a shim? Should have just used a piece of looseleaf paper I they were going to do that.
Honestly, for as cool as it may look, it seems like a weird sound, and that headstock would be better without the points, could even hack off that upper horn above the neck
I say that headstock looks like the Eye of Sauron
my first bass was a warlock, needless to say i regret buying it xD
i love how this guy does his vids lmao .
That guitar looks awesome minus the crud
If I ever have a signature guitar I will call it the "Death Stick"
you really love your BC Rich's huh? hahah. Thats why i watch your vids tho
is there a bass you like
+Ed “Iwickerman” Wicker iirc he loves some of his vintage p basses and is all about new G&L stuff, especially their J basses
Is that truss an allen or phillips head?
It's a phillips hex key = quite rare but YOU should definitely contact $tew-Mac by email or phone to buy some.
He couldn't get the string height any lower with the truss rod and bridge so he shimmed the neck up higher towards the strings.
Thank God (Satan?) I outgrew my fascination with this style of instrument. The Mockingbird is nice, I draw the line right after the Bich.
Thats the kinda beast you play in the church band and bring to confession after so they can tell you to consider giving it an exorcism.
The guitar "smells like peepee" lol!
ahhahahahhahahahaaa awesome fn video!!!! quite comical!!! thats the exact way i feel about half the shit i buy on craigslist lmao
6:24 ...or Billy and Mandy. :)
After the goths get done painting their nails, whatever nail polish is left can be used to touch up the chipped points!
I think Dave only wants pristine Basses perfectly set up 😂
