the love from my lips collection is like a scrapbook of lost gems, each one as precious as the last one. this unreleased playlist has a poetic mystery that will always be its greatest quality, as patty griffin fans one by one will eventually discover these little treasures that are nothing short of miraculous. like all of her other work, patty griffin's "love from my lips" is songwriting at its best.
Another to add to my "favorites"! Thank you so much for sharing this unique selection from Patty. She remains one of the best singer/songwriters of our time IMHO...
this is by far my favorite song from the love from my lips collection....for those that don't know what that is....its a series of three cds made by fans and passed around the patty griffin community. I would give anything to see her do this live...knowing it'll never happen..but i can wish right.
Hey - I just came across this...and I am so glad everyone loves this gorgeous Patty song. Just wanted to clarfify - Patty did not sell "Love From My Lips" at gigs. And this song was never released in any form to the public. Probably not a big thing, but there you have it. John (the guy who created the LFML collection)
love this, it relates to where I am at the moment...I would love to get a copy of this album, in fact all her unreleased work...I have all her other albums
@Angelemerald I am only speculating but if the song seems very personal and if she's passed whatever she was struggling with when she wrote the song, it would make sense for her not to perform it anymore. It IS a tremendous song but sometimes songwriters just move past their songs emotionally...
Thanks a lot ^^ i have found them allrady and you are right it is em C D and C G D for the chorus but the capodasta on the first fred ^^ xD amazing that you can hear that from listning to the vidio ^^
I wanna like Patty Griffin, but I struggle with her lyrics that don't rhyme or they bounce around making no sense, as with some of the melodies in her songs. I keep waiting for something to come along, as with, "You Are Not Alone" but they're too seldom if at all. I'd suggest lyrics that either rhyme or tells a story, similarly to Jone Baez or a Judy Collins, etc. Good luck Miss Griffin...we'll keep listening. ;-)
I don't know what you are listening to. I hear your required rhymes and a story line. Maybe you are hoping for more fluff and less that you have to spend time on thinking too deeply about. Yes, Patty might need your "good luck". Good thing you stopped by...
ny10980 She's okay, but I assure you, it didn't take hours of meditation to come to my conclusion. People either like a song or they don't...for whatever reason.
And that's fair. However, it was also my first listen to this song and as you are saying it doesn't do this or that I am hearing it do exactly those things you chide her for lacking. I am a Joan Baez, Judy Collins fan (not aficionado) and as well a fan of too many others to count. And I know sometimes when I don't like something initially, after several listens and getting use to an artists delivery style, they start to grow on me. And Baez and Collins are exactly that way as well in their deliveries. I have heard at least a few rude comments about Baez's hyper active vibrato. But that is her style and I personally think she wears it well. But music tastes are individual to be certain...
I agree, with everyone who thinks Patty Griffin is one of the best songwriters out there. All I can say, God bless her.
Just beautiful! I love this song and her unique, pretty voice.

Everything she does is so emotional - she gives me goosebumps . Voice as clear as a bell .

Must admit that I'd never heard of her until 3 days ago and now I can't stop listening to her. How did I miss her?
Patty is the best in her field. She has no competition.

If you listen to this song and you're missing a story, you're not listening with your heart.
Pretty sure she was influenced by Bob Dylan. You can hear similar themes in her music. Everyone has their taste and that’s ok.
