    Started playing it a week or two ago. And this game is totally one of my favorites, and I didn't even know about Tales franchise before. Previously I thought Persona 5 or Final Fantasy X are the best JRPGs but now ToA is totally my number one.

      Hi. I completed and enjoyed Berseria and I'm interested about Arise but I read a lot of reviews saying its characters and story are childish and mediocre. Is this true?

    • @dencheq
      @dencheq 9 месяцев назад

      @@JohnDoe-wl8zk I haven't played Berzeria (I'm planning to do it in near future along with Vesperia) but I know people who have played it and have said ArIse is better. Cause in their opinion Berzeria falls at the end.
      Arise is totally not mediocre, it's a very quality game with awesome combat system. In terms of quality and story it can be compared to Final Fantasy VII Remake but Arise has better gameplay, combat system and map design. 95% of FFVii Remake locations are just narrow labyrinths, Arise has many big open locations.
      I have seen such comments on forum, it's totally clear that these people have played like 5 hours at most.
      Story and characters are not childish, it seems pretty simple at the start but further you go, characters change too so as story. Arise is heavely character based game in terms of the story, if you don't like characters, you probably won't like the story too. I pretty much liked 4 main characters and learned to like others too.
      I've played like 100+ hours, there are alot of side quests, editional dungeons and bosses. While FFVII has lame side quests where you run around from point A to B in labyrinths.

    • @cassandra2646
      @cassandra2646 7 месяцев назад

      @@JohnDoe-wl8zkI would not call it childish. But if you've watch a lot of anime the story will not be special and tropes may be overused. Good for non-anime watcher I think.

    Yep. JRPG's are generally a mixed bag but TOA was constantly good throughout. The only gripe I have is sometimes the loading time was a bit long and in some parts it wasn't clear what I should do especially if a I missed an important bit of conversation. But these are only minor gripes compared to the overall experience. Anyway good review that I hope will get others interested to play it.

    I'm here in January 2024 noticing that this video was posted 10 months ago. I understand you've gotta do what you've gotta do and sometimes a cheeky title change is necessary for optimal CTR, but the real reason you should play Tales of Arise in 2024 is because the Unreal Engine VR injector just came out, making this game fully VR compatible. I tested it out just now and it works surprisingly well after you play around with the settings for a bit.

    As far as Tales goes, I think Xillia 1 and 2 have the most similarities to Arise in terms of gameplay and features, and would probably be a good option to try after this one. The series' prior big 3, Symphonia, Abyss and Vesperia are really good, but do all show their age in their own ways, though I'd wager if one were to play all 3, at least one of them would shine through enough to make up for it, depending on the person.

    Im only 9 hours in and im absolutely loving it. The story, the art style, the gameplay... it's all great. The loot sorta sucks so far but theres still loot. Its just very repetitive when the the baddies waiting right there for u to fight to claim the stash .. although its easy to trick them and run right around to grab the treasure.
    Its not without its shortness...like the loot and the skill tree...it has a decent skill system but it just isbt my favorite at all. Theres some i dont like more then this one so skill system is a 5/10 for me. The game was made the way the devs and writers wanted it to be made. So im not gonna judge on how open the world is or any of that( its open enough) so im judging on other things.
    And im not gonna do a real review but im gonna say graphics are great gameplay is great so far story is great . I really like the art and u feel like youre watching an anime show im between gameplay of the time. Some people seem to hate this and say theres to much .. but im personally loving it so far...it really pulls me closer to the characters and world..i don't skip the scenes.. they definitely arent borring if u actually give it a chance.
    Anyways
    Only ten hours in and like i said its already got a high score for me. Well see if it lowers or raises.
    Yes im stoned. Yes i live in cali. Does any State still have this illegal? 😂

    As someone who thoroughly enjoys this series, I gotta say, this isn't the best one in my opinion.... but it is one of the best titles overall. The big thing to me is accessibility. If I were to describe all of the mechanics of a game like Vesperia or Xillia 2, a newcomer would be frightened thinking of it, but if I put them at the beginning of those games, theyd think they were overly simple button mashers (and I have seen it happen). Since I got the multiplayer mod, I explained the controls and gave them their controllers and within minutes, they were already figuring out the game. I think the combat lacks the depth of past titles, but makes up for it in its presentation and accessibility.
    As for the overall package, I think it strikes a balance. For Symphonia, the combat was good and the story is considered the best in the series, but the graphics and presentation overall have aged poorly. For Vesperia, it has the highest skill ceiling for combat in the whole series, timeless stylized cell-shaded graphics, and some of the best written characters too, but the actual story that takes place is a little loose and becomes weak in its final act due to the shift in focus. Arise balances its entire package very well with accessible, yet very engaging combat, a meticulously crafted world, beautiful art direction and graphics, well written and fleshed out characters, a good story that is easy to follow while still being entertaining, and a wealth of quality side content to invest more time into.
    While Arise doesn't beat certain other entries in their strongest aspects, it does present a great and well balanced package worthy of being in the top 5 for the series at least. It's a great introduction to this series for newcomers and it paints a bright future for it too. Thank you for reading my little review here.
    I love analyzing games just as much as i love playing them. 😅

      Love this analysis of Symphonia and Vesperia, and I completely agree with it. I liked Symphonia, but I don’t have much of a desire to play it again, and I think the graphics are a major reason for that. Also, while most of the characters were written well, I can’t say they’re one of my favorite Tales casts.
      Vesperia was like Arise when it was first announced, with its visual style feeling like a massive upgrade for the series. It remains one of my favorite Tales games for its art style, as well as the world and Yuri being an awesome protagonist. But as you said, the story leaves much to be desired, especially in the second half of the game. My brother recently watched someone play Vesperia for the first time, and he was surprised by how all over the place it felt in retrospect.
      Arise really does feel like a good balance with graphics that will stand the test of time and an engaging story (with some rough spots here and there). And I absolutely loved this cast of characters, with Dohalim being the standout for me.

    Just finished this game. One wrong move and my opinion of this game will be different. Glad I picked English dub over the cringe Japanese lol. Because there's a lot of cutscenes (so if I'd pick Japanese I would probably be annoyed a lot). Cutscenes which are actually good for me. Just let me go through the story as I don't care about battles. Well, I care a little but Tales had this you know, awesome battle system coupled with colorful great artes, which will become repetitive as you play along. And one boss battle is enough to satisfy myself on the gameplay really coz the enemies have too high HP that took me forever to defeat hahaha.
    The bigger plus of Arise is the amount of quality of life the game has, you can save anywhere aside from autosaving and the fast travel.

      Shionne expressly controls and regulates the amount of astral energy taken from her master core in order to power the blazing sword. Without her around, the sword would eventually fade away. Of course, Alphen is the only one who can actually wield the thing. The two of them are established as needing each other early on, and that continues all throughout the game.

After mid game it becomes a tv show rather than a game, and this game suffers from ff10 syndrome as where each characters have a special monster type associated but it's annoying how there are more breads of wolf in this game than there are on the planet. I know reusing assets is a thing in JRPGs but this game takes it a fair bit too far.
