+DragonBallZKaifan2 yep cut it by 75% instead of raising it, and if you missed with Rage it's accuracy would drop to 1/256 and it was all you could use or if you used moves like swords dance too much your stats would roll over to negative numbers.
Goldbat still had "that tongue" in gen 2 if I recall correctly.

The music when entering Lance's room is so professional and so serious sounding. I mean that sounds like you're in the big leagues now. And the gym leader music is so cool. It's like he is a double elite four and gym leader, and guardian of the top of the too by being a dragon trainer.
Yes going from the Pokémon Tower theme back to the Pokémon League theme after 3 hard fought battles kind of makes you realize what you’re about to get yourself into. Especially the way the game automatically leads you to him makes it all that more intimidating
Did the AI seriously just use a Super Potion on a Pokemon at full health? WTF?
I heard the Gameboy had limited AI prowess. Not sure if that was the case, or they plain could have done better with the AI, since ALL Gym Leaders and important NPCs past certain points of the game has an AI of 160 since Generation 3
I know it did, I just didn't know it was THAT stupid...
Back then, ai didn’t really exist. It was choice through pure RNG

+Alex Aizea The Friend Of Karla Gengar has the ability levitate but since gen 1 has no abilities Gengar is vulnerable to ground type moves.
Its a cheap way to win battles
This game brings back good memories. It took me a LONG time and a bit of trading with the Red version, but on the Blue version I was actually able to collect all the Pokemon. Every single one! Including Mew, which requires you to take certain and careful steps to find. Mew may be a glitch but it still counts as one of the Pokemon to collect. For those of you who don't know the possible ways to locate Mew, check it out online.
All the game's bosses. Nice video. But as us Gen 1 veterans as kids, they were intense experiences.
I never would've thought I'd see gameplay from Gen 1 ever again.. Takes me back.. to when Red whooped me good..

Lance is the only Elite Four member who used Gym leader music
This was only for Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow. As of Pokemon Stadium, all members of the Kanto Elite Four had Gym Leader music. It remained this way since then.
I always feel like dancing when I hear the gym leader music in this game
It's just dawned on me after all these years how odd it is that they used the regular trainer battle music for the first 3 elite four battles.

The only thing I can think of that could've caused that is maybe the Arcanine has 255 or 256 HP? Possibly making the AI believe it had low HP? (Honestly I don't know. I'm just guessing here.)
As far as I remember, it is absolutely random in Gen I whether the gym leaders will use healing items or not.So, Blaine went insane even though he had full health

Did you knew that you can destroy Lance's Dragonite with a Level 36 Venomoth?
It's because he will use Agility and Barrier forever. Because Venomoth is weak to Psychic-Type moves.
And Genwunners insist in saying that the new games are easy in a mental-disorder level.

Dig was so OP early on in these games... Which made catching a Diglett or Dugtrio rough unless you had a flying type but even then slash would fuck you up! Good times lol.

Very nostalgic! I remember back in 2001 when I had my Yellow version and Gameboy color. I battled the elite four all the time once I beat the game and eventually caught 150 Pokemon with the help of a friend's Gameboy and Blue version. Back in those days, I never knew about the glitch to catch Mew! Good Times.
Look at those sounds and animations! Sooooo much cooler than the newer versions although oldschool and in 8 bit

In the anime ,the rival,Gary ,also has a Blastoise and an Arcanine .And he,like BLUE in the game,also received his Blastoise at Professor Oak's lab as a Squirtle .

I've never been able to beat this game or any Pokemon game do to my blindness. Now that I have a version for the blind and visually impaired, watching this makes me wanna give it a try again. What was that attack used after sending out Pikachu's transformation? It almost sounded like, um, an engine or something similar. I usually get as far as the silph building then allways die to Blue's level 35 Alakazam because it has Psychic and Recover. Right now, I have: Vennasaur level 32, Pidgeotto level 31, Machoke level 32 and Nidoqueen level 31. I think you can have 6 Pokemon and not just 4, at least that's what it sounded like from the video.

I'm glad I found this because it accurately depicts the difficult of faxing brock with charmander. The firered/leafgreen videos its way too easy because Charmander learns metal claw and though Onix has a more powerful move to compensate mankeys also available early. In red/blue it truly is difficult with charmander unless he's evolved.
I always loved the type weakness critical sound effect, it sounds like opening a bottle of soda

I remember grinding so hard in that diglet cave to lvl my chameleon to a charizard. Not that I needed it, I just liked being way ahead.

Your rival wonders why he lost, yet he has a level 63 exeggutor with barrage and a level 61 Arcanine with leer and ember, he deserved to lose lol
The moves chosen are the ones that the pokemon learn through level up at that certain level, that's why exeggutor only has 3 moves cause it could only learn those 3 through level up, and why arcanine has ember and leer

Giovanni Magnus In the first games the AI made it's decision AFTER you'd finished your move. Remember, this is the generation that gave us Lance with Aerodactyl with rock slide (which it couldn't learn then), and Dragonite with BARRIER (a move that no Dragonite has ever been able to learn).

Pokemon Yellow seemed to be harder than Red and Blue. The levels of these gym leaders are far lower. Koga had a Lvl 50 Venonant, and all of Sabrina's Pokemon were lvl 50

I was a little kid when this came out in the mid 90's. Hell pokemon yellow back in 1999 I was 12 I had a special pikachu edition gameboy color for my birthday. The original pokemon games were the best because also they were more challenging because pokemon could not hold items like berries and so forth because it didn't exist yet not till the 2nd generation released in 2000 and crystal 2001. There was also ability not nature. Kids nowadays know the new pokemon not realizing that the first pokemon games were the best

Lol you would've defeated each Brock pokemon in 1 turn if you would've chosen Squirtle instead, and you would've saved that long time taken and potions (though I personally don't use potions). But anyway, good battles (y).

Yellow makes this game look like child's play. By the time you get to Sabrina, the Pokemon are level 50 so you have to grind so hard
