Vets of WW II and Iraq/Afghan were treated with respect, but vets of Korea and Vietnam have been ignored or treated badly.

We need to cultivate relationships with men and women like Ray, who have seen and lived history as it happened.

Beautiful young lady doing a beautiful thing for a man who deserves it. The men and women of his generation are called the greatest for a reason. Thank you to that man for his service and thank you to the young lady for being a great example to other young people. God bless you both.

It’s not about the girl. It’s about thanking a human being who went through unimaginable physical and mental pain, sheer terror and fear, and most importantly unparalleled bravery. It is because of these veterans that you are able to leave a RUclips comment in the developed world. We will never forget the heroes of the military.

I have a letter like that, one of my most treasured gifts. I keep it with my Fathers & Grandfathers discharge papers, all originals. When in need of encouragement, I will read it . I was in the Persian gulf in 79, and took part in the evacuation of Americans from Iran. The navy awarded us the Navy Expeditions Medal for that. Never thought much about it till recently, when the issue got media attention. They called it stolen valor, I never thought anything about valor, just doing my part. I often wonder about the people who we rescued and how they are. First time I’ve seen anything like this video, the letter still touches me whenever I need a lift. Thanx to all those children for them letters. They’re more appreciated than you may realize. God bless the children.

Thank you for your service sir. I was in junior high when those Americans were rescued. It was most certainly an uneasy time for America and I'm sure a nightmare for our hostages. I still talk to my son about that event in our country to this day. To all the servicemen and women of that rescue, we all owe a thanks to. I'm unclear how rescuing Americans from a hostage situation could be called stolen Valor. Obviously it was anti military or ant Americans because you all were heros. I served 13 years in the Air Force, and I say to you all of that time period, it was an honor to take the baton after you and stand watch for our Great Nation. God bless you all and again Thank You

In 1984 the statue of the Three Fighting Men was added to the Vietnam War Memorial. I was one of thirteen Vietnam veterans who was going. We all met at a local veteran outreach center to take a van to LAX. But before we left, we were given a huge sack of mail to take with us. In it were letters from all the local elementary schools to be handed out to Vietnam vets, if we would be so kind. We did on a Saturday night. Many of our fellow vets were weeping as they read a letter. I got a little choked up too.

Dear, sir, the man who raised me was a Vietnam War Veteran and career serviceman. I had the privilege and honor of meeting, working tough jobs with and getting to know many veterans over the years. Sir,I want you to know, that I personally will always stand, remove my hat and place my hand over my heart during our national anthem and I will always,if possible, kindly pause any veteran of war and offer my gratitude and respect for them for their service, great sacrifice and courage in serving our beloved nation and i will thank them for my freedoms, for they and men like you are no different than the people who kept our flag flying all through the night in the beginning as we refused to surrender to the British. Willing to sacrifice your lives in the name of preserving our rights and freedoms. The greatest Americans. And,it would be a dishonor to the man who raised me,and to our nation,if i did not offer my greatest thanks and respect for you, sir. I wish I could have been there to welcome you back home. For now, just know that there is someone out there beyond your family and friends who loves and respects the hell out of you.
Thank you, sir. God bless you and God bless America, our home sweet home
