I purchased my first 2 years ago and spent way too much $, and then ended up not being comfortable with the size, format etc and quickly abandoned working with it. I've recently decided to give planners another try and have just purchased a more economical "self-created" simpler system. I was a planner addict when I taught and worked. Now that I'm retired I use a plain vanilla journal (from TJ Maxx ) that I write in, sketch in, and keep track of my cleaning schedule. But I still love to look at planners! I scrapbook so my love of all things paper has an outlet. Thanks for the inspiration!
I love the idea to use a smaller book for meal planning. I'm trying to get back in the habit as well. At the end of each week, I'm like... I don't know what to cook! I really helps the week flow better when I prep

Last year I was in Goodwill and came across a brand new Filofax A5. It was purple leather from the U K and was still in the package. I paid $3.92 cents for it. I don't write in it that much because my handwriting is not nice, but I love holding it.

I am a phone/computer planner. Google calendar, docs, sheets, etc. I organize the whole family on Google Calendar. I can add events for my husband and 17 year old and they show up on their phone. I have even ditched my desk calendar that I used to have. I feel 'free' having it on the computer. But, I do appreciate the 'tactile' aspect and 'pretty' of your planner.
Jill Bauer Ahhh! Sounds like planner peace :) I like digital, especially for calendaring. One of my friends was showing me Cozi for actually planning, but I'm a statistic. I do better with eye, brain, hand, tactile for internalizing my goals and plans. And then I'm paranoid. I don't like the idea of any of my personal information floating around the ethernet :/

Oh Thanks so much for this video - I love it! I started a RUclips channel a few months ago, I work a few hours a week, am busy with lots of church things and have a toddler running around the house. I feel like things can get overwhelming sometimes. I haven't ever tried using a planner seriously. That might just be my thing!

I share you feelings on clean and simple planners with just enough extras to make them pretty and functional. I've been a Franklin-Covey gal almost forever... but I started out slow, like you recommended, before I invested in a really nice planning system. Great advice, as per usual!

Great tips and planners I definitive need to have a plan for this year. I have 3 girls, my husband and 3 dogs at home and that will help significant for starting my days. They all have different things to do and it just makes me forget things.
Always love your videos! You have such great ideas! This video - wow! Hairpins! Such a creative re-use!!! Also, the notecards! Oh my goodness! My husband and I get SO many note cards from charitable organizations - never can write that many letters these days, so I will use them to write notes to myself! Also, love the idea of combining professional and personal planners into one. YOU should market that idea!!! Not sure I will use a planner that can use inserts like that, but it is a wonderful idea! good advice about not jumping in full throttle in the beginning. I did that, after spending oodles of money realized the Personal size was too small! so i spent even more money on the A5 size and that's working much better for me.

I ordered my first Erin Condren customized with my own photos for the covers. Back one with all the grandies, and the front with my Aussie family and some inspiring scenery of Brissy. Thanks for sharing! Love the black and gold! So far I have always been using a very simple and small planner for work, writing in it in pencil because people tend to change appointments. I generally jot down some private things here and there but it's true that it's a challenge, for the privacy issue and not to make it too cluttered. I bought a second planner this year hoping to start using it for my personal goals, but have not started yet, a bit intimidated. take care and happy new year!

That's how I started out. I bought a cheap planner. Later on I started doing more research and found some great planners online. It was all she wrote after that lol I started buying more planner supplies, joining groups etc ❤️️🙏🏿
I found 3 ring planner insets for my Dayrunner at the Target dollar spot for $3!! Daily pages. Dividers etc! I'm sure they could be hole punched to fit more than 3 rings. Just FYI for anyone looking for budget friendly options.

I am using the Recollections planners because they are so reasonable in price. I got all of mine 1/2 price. I have them in 9 different colors. I usually change them out every 2 months. I get bored looking at the same color. I don't change purses though. I have a black one and a tan one. I am sure it would be different if I didn't stay at home all the time. I got some very good ideas on what to add to my planner from your video. Thank you Nikki.

Hi Nikki. I watched your great video today and learned a lot from it. One thing that intrigued me about your way of planning is that you have a separate tab for each of your priority levels. Does this mean then that you really don't use daily pages on which one would generally write down all the priorities for a particular day? can't wait for your inspiration page...thank you for the tips...I found that I use three planners. one for family and meetings etc.etc.etc...one to journal as I am a teacher and this helps me to remember the day...and then I have a small one for my clutch bag

Oh Thanks so much for this video - I love it! I started a RUclips channel a few months ago, I work a few hours a week, am busy with lots of church things and have a toddler running around the house. I feel like things can get overwhelming sometimes. I haven't ever tried using a planner seriously. That might just be my thing!

I share you feelings on clean and simple planners with just enough extras to make them pretty and functional. I've been a Franklin-Covey gal almost forever... but I started out slow, like you recommended, before I invested in a really nice planning system. Great advice, as per usual!

Great tips and planners I definitive need to have a plan for this year. I have 3 girls, my husband and 3 dogs at home and that will help significant for starting my days. They all have different things to do and it just makes me forget things.

My husband and I get SO many note cards from charitable organizations - never can write that many letters these days, so I will use them to write notes to myself! good advice about not jumping in full throttle in the beginning. I did that, after spending oodles of money realized the Personal size was too small! so i spent even more money on the A5 size and that's working much better for me.

Thanks for sharing! Love the black and gold! So far I have always been using a very simple and small planner for work, writing in it in pencil because people tend to change appointments. I generally jot down some private things here and there but it's true that it's a challenge, for the privacy issue and not to make it too cluttered. I bought a second planner this year hoping to start using it for my personal goals, but have not started yet, a bit intimidated. take care and happy new year!

A planner looks so much more organised and I may have to investigate this idea in more detail!! That's how I started out. I bought a cheap planner. Later on I started doing more research and found some great planners online. It was all she wrote after that lol I started buying more planner supplies, joining groups etc ❤️️🙏🏿
I found 3 ring planner insets for my Dayrunner at the Target dollar spot for $3!! Daily pages. Dividers etc! I'm sure they could be hole punched to fit more than 3 rings. Just FYI for anyone looking for budget friendly options.

I am using the Recollections planners because they are so reasonable in price. I got all of mine 1/2 price. I have them in 9 different colors. I usually change them out every 2 months. I get bored looking at the same color. I don't change purses though. I have a black one and a tan one. I am sure it would be different if I didn't stay at home all the time. I got some very good ideas on what to add to my planner from your video. Thank you Nikki.

Hi Nikki. I watched your great video today and learned a lot from it. One thing that intrigued me about your way of planning is that you have a separate tab for each of your priority levels. Does this mean then that you really don't use daily pages on which one would generally write down all the priorities for a particular day? I like this idea and would really appreciate if you could elaborate more on how you set this type of atypical planning up. Thank you.

I also have purchase several item that u suggested for my office, kitchen, patio. we have a 6/4 home and it's hard organizing at times (smile). Nikki I would like to see do do a site on Louis Vuitton planner, passport cover, I pad case. it's also nice to know that Dios calls his Saints to meet.
I was anticipating you doing a planner video for the new year, thank you. I've been going back through your prior vids to get ideas of what size, supplies/usage, style etc. to consider. This helps. A novice's question, why are the dividers called dashboards?
