I have started watching all the videos from the start on your channel and to see Obelix show up in a new video was funny to me since I have been watching about 100 videos so far on her. It is also really cool to see how far you have come on your youtube channel. Your English sounds so much more conversational, the camera work has improved, and editing is better. I can't wait to see you enjoying Athena out on the water.

Congratulation on the splash .For the vinyl use steam NO heat gun to remove the wrinkles . For the plywood you could wet them and screw them in place so they will keep the radius shape until they dry. Make sure you glue the vinyl with the plywood bend into the roof shape to avoid sagging. Used neoprene contact cement for the glue.

I know, there is still a lot to do, I just found it funny that after ALL THIS TIME AND WORK you put into this boat, all of which I and a lot of other viewers watched every step of the way, I still feel it happened so fast. Thank you Mads for the new video. Good to see Athena back in the water. I think you need to revise your intro to "After 4 and 1/2 years I have built a new boat based on a boat pattern I purchased." Except for the raw hull and the mast, Athena is pretty much a unique custom boat. As mentioned below you may be able to warm the faux leather with a hot hair dryer and stretch it to get rid of the creases or you may be able to use a steam iron over a towel to iron the creases out. Take care and stay well.

Athena appears to be a pristine white! And it looks great! I like the windshield on Athena a lot! I have an 8" deep bulwark around the cockpit and it has two vents in it for venting the sail locker. I hinged one and run my shore power cable through it down into the sail locker for weather and people protection. The cable is actually on a spool from which it is unwound out through the vent to shore power. I have done the same in the bow for running the cable into the anchor locker. I've been tied up to the city docks in Baltimore before when someone came during the night and removed my plug and dropped it into the water!

Very pleased for you Mads. It has been a long journey. I have been watching practically since day 1. On that deadline you gave yourself, 2 points from a senior Software Architect. Goals are excellent, but getting it done right has always been your priority. I suggest that the time frame is a secondary goal, despite the obvious if unstated reasons for time pressure. The price of 1 ticket to America more or less is not that significant, where as getting your life and boat sorted out right is significant. Similar comment on selling the little boat.
I have had enough bosses over the years who were willng to sacrifice quality and the power of the end product in the market in order to meet some artificial meaningless deadlines. Personal life works the same way. I was counting on being healthy for a long time, but prioritized adventure and doing important stuff for me. I didnt get to do even a fraction of my life goals, mostly due to other people, but priorities always go to the important stuff. Always consider your goals in terms of total and essential value. I think you eventually get to that point anyway, I am just interested in reducing or eliminating the stress of those decisions. Every case of that will be different and focus will shift, but it feels great to know you always focused on the most important stuff.
I am currently living in 'assisted care' in a home. It is a 'pre-nursing home'. I have advanced type 2 diabetes and most of the legendary advanced symptoms are beginning to show, or are full blown. I will spare you the details save to say controlling my blood sugars has been nearly impossible and I have been living with it for going on 30 years. And even now, my main focus is on doing good, helping others, and living a kind hearted excellent life.
You have allowed me to live a little bit in a dream I had myself for many years. Now I walk with a walker, and dont have the reflexes for even simple boat life. No strength to run lines or stand a watch. But I still get out Chapman every now and then, or look at a NOAA chart. Sorry for the long post, but it seemed like splash day was a good time for me to share just a little. Keep up the awesome spiffiness.

Great minds think alike. In furniture and auto upholstery shops, they use a steam gun to heat and tighten pleather(plastic leather ). You can get a clothes steamer now that is cordless to make it easier to handle and it works really well! Good luck!!

I also confirm the "moistured heat" trick.
