When I played this on the GameCube, when my first cow Paige died I was CRUSHED. I didn't understand the feeding mechanics well, so I didn't fertilize the grass and kept trying to buy feed. I was literally crying at one point as a small child feeding Paige good fodder to keep her from dying. Honestly, a great lesson to teach kids. Better my virtual cow dies than my cat lol
RIP Paige 😢 This also happened to me with my Chicken Skye, but in Trio of Towns. I thought feed lasted longer than it actually did and I didn't know cleaning the barn and coop was a thing until after the scene where I lost her. 😮
Bringing me back to Back to Nature where child me accidentally killed my sheep by trying to keep shearing it, because I didn't understand you could only shear it once when it actually had wool. 😭 The scene where they have a funeral and guilt trip you for being a bad animal owner KILLED me, I was BAWLING.
I did the exact same thing 😅 When my cow eventually got sick I sobbed, turned off the game, and never played again so the cow wouldn’t die. Gave the game away to a friend
I was really really reaaaallllyyyyy hoping for deeper NPCs because the social aspect of this game is so important and honestly there isn’t much else to do ;-; knowing that they say the same thing everyday makes me so sad….but I will still give it a chance and I want to support them!! Still dreaming about RF6 hah
I was hoping for this too! Just add a few new lines every year ...or something! I was hoping they'd expand more in it but stuck very close to the original
The only thing they brought up to date was graphics/mechanics, this just doesn't hold up to the depth people these days expect. Not for a game where the social aspect is the most important part... I hope other people have more fun with this game than I did, didn't play very far before I was bored. It feels so empty. 😴 I sorta hope the official English release surprises y'all with more dialogue or something
@@LunarElevencan only hope modders do something about it. Stardew valley can be made so good even lore friendly dialog mods. And stardew valley expanded mod is basically a huge update like mod. Feels like nothing can beat stardew valley. Mods sure huge thing but they ad basically a difficult option with only gaining 25% of the original profit so the game doesn’t get boring after 2 year if ur good.
I really hope they add a “realistic mode” or hard mode where animals can get sick/die and you must breed in order to produce milk. Basically like how the original was.
@@estrellian7095 ........how? You know gay people are a thing in real life and can adopt children? So same sex marriage 'doesn't make any sense' but having a harvest goddess that comes out of a pond, small little fairy creatures that live in a tree that you can shrink down and visit to teach you how to cook and a literal yeti all make sense to you? Okay bigot.
I appreciate it being a faithful remake, even though an expanded game would have been great. Honestly, I feel a lot of modern indie farming games have a bit of feature bloat when it comes to farming so I don't mind a simpler game. In fact, that's why I enjoyed Harvestella so much, because it was a back to basics farming game. It also had an amazing single player RPG story that really helped flesh the game out and while AWL is not Harvestella in that regards, the AWL story is actually really good. I'm not going to spoil the story of the game, but that's the main reason I'd want to replay it. Raising your kid, the drama around their life decisions and of course that unforgettable ending. I think it meant a lot to me as a kid but as an adult I expect the story to absolutely destroy me. I'm both looking forward to and dreading beating this game, something that I can't say about any other farming sim.
I feel like all modern farming games are just Stardew Valley sims these days. Pioneers of Olive town practically stole the museum and the same fishing mechanics I’ve seen far too many times as it is.
@@Cognazzo95I hope you know that stardew valley is a inspired game from Harvest moon. And that Harvest moon now Story of season is. Because Natsume the rights about the name "harvest moon" had. Meanwhile Marvelous the game creator are. I hope you understand what I try to say, because my English is not the best..
@@SilentSpringzyeah, I never said Stardew valley is bad. Especially when it's only made by one person ConcernApe. To be honest I love Stardew valley and have in there over 500 hours. It's really well made and one of my favorite farming games. What I love the most about stardew valley is he gave his characters so much depth and so many dialogues, that it doesn't bore you to talk with the npc's. What I mean by that comment is that they (Marvelous) never stole any gameplay elements from Stardew valley when so many other games it also had before stardew valley existed. And I am also looking forward for ConcernApe's newest game project haunted chocolatier. So what I want to make clear is I love Marvelous' games and even more ConcernApe's game but I don't like people who always say "oh they stole this from another game" What's the problem? I saw so many games who seem so identical and still gave a new feeling with a complete different vibe or style. The important thing is that it makes fun to play.
@@julshape7804 the thing is SV eventually made its own identity even if it was inspired by harvest moon. Meanwhile Story of seasons already had an identity yet abandoned it for more trendy gameplay that made the game bloated and lose the thing fans of the series already love
I’m finding that a lot of people are in agreement that the game could have been fleshed out more in terms of dialogue. Plus, the fact that Pioneers of Olive Town and A Wonderful Life don’t have the dialogue silhouettes really took the charm away from the characters for me because you have to stare down their dead-eyed model instead. What I like about these games was the emphasis on community and learning about your neighbors, the townsfolk, and your potential partner. Repetitive dialogue sort of ruins that aspect. To me, so far, the perfect SoS game was Trio of Towns. It maintained the farming aspect and it also gave you three locations with characters that were interesting and had their unique cultures. The original Story of Seasons was also fun because it had a competitive way to farm by biding for plots of land which was very rewarding. The characters were also very charming. Somewhat stereotypical but charming. I would have preferred if they didn’t port and slightly touch up A Wonderful Life and used the main mechanic of watching everyone grow and put it into a new game.
The way the animal mechanics were changed really hurts my heart, for some reason. One of the things I remember fondly is sitting in front of the TV during Summer and planning when to breed my cows because they were beginning to slow down on milk production. This always felt like it was a game about LIFE, so taking away a whole part of that really bothers me....
I know the dialogue becoming stale and repetitive is an inevitability with something like a farming sim, but with how linear the story of this one is, it feels like a little more care could have been put towards it in this title. Regardless, I'm so excited to play this when my copy comes in! I've been loving seeing your videos on it, hopefully they've given other people the itch to play too! AWL is such a gem of an entry to the genre 💖
A wonderful life : SE will always hold a special place in my heart. I'm excited to recreate my first playthrough. with Lumina and a daughter. Excited to play this in a week!
To me this Story of Seasons game is marketed towards adults. Almost everything is fast paced, perfect to to those gamers like me who works and doesn't have all he time in the world to play hours long every day. Love your reviews as always, Josh!!
The original on GameCube was my absolute favorite game to play as a kid so when Nintendo announced the remake I was so excited! I can’t wait for it to release in English next week!
I remember really struggling with this game as a kid due to all the complex mechanics, so I'm really glad they made a lot of features more straightforward and convenient!
I pre-ordered the premium edition because i love the little plushies that come with their preorders lol i am very excited to finally experience this game. I hope they continue to make their games even better, i know this is a remake but still. Their new game sounds promising and i really want to see more already 😅🎉
I'm unbelievably excited for this game. I got the collecters edition from xseed and it's already in the mail, they try their best to make sure it gets delivered day of release. This is my favorite game in the series and I, to this day, often replay the original on my gamecube. I'm so thankful that they remade this 😭
There are lambs now? This is so cute! And the male goat is really nice. Good improvement! And it was so much fun watching you playing! I enjoyed it a lot! 🥰👍👍
Honestly I just find this remake really welcome even if it's not perfect. The original was one of my favorite Harvest Moon games growing up, but I tried replaying it recently and it's borderline unplayable these days simply because of how badly it's aged. Can't wait to give this one a shot.
to me from how much they're taking out and simplifying the game they're marketing towards kids that don't play these games, if they marketed towards adults the cow deaths would still be in, the bar would still be in, you wouldn't be able to get money so easy and get all the upgrades in just year 2, breeding would still be a necessary thing and Murray wouldn't have been change. They're making the game to kids more not the adult that the fan base mostly consists of. I wish they added more but i'm still excited to play the game i loved as a kid with a fresh coat of paint
Just bought this game today At my local GameStop for 49.99. They had two left because with every batch they’ve gotten in they’ve sold them so quickly so I got lucky. With that being said I’m only on day two. This is my first SOS game ever. Being obsessed with animal crossing right now, not sure how much I like this. I think I need to keep playing to see, but however so far, I’m kinda getting “my time at Portia” Vibes. Way better though. Just not sure how I feel about it so far. I was so excited today when I finally bought it. Hope it’s not a let down.
Unbelievably exited for this to come out next week. The original on GameCube was my introduction to the series and i played it for hundreds of hours so this game will be a huge nostalgia bomb for me. I'm especially exited about the addition of the encyclopedia because I'm a completionist. Also, not sure if you do videos on the handheld harvest moon games, but I would love to see you make a video about harvest moon: a new beginning on the 3ds. That game is my absolute favorite out of all the harvest moon / story of seasons games, but i never see anybody talk about it lol
I remember staying up way past my bedtime playing the original and one of my animals died... I legit did not sleep that not. So distressing & shows how much I cared about the game/experience!
I forgot about the goats in the original game. Those freeloaders lol I’m glad they updated the tools. Those names were very unintuitive. A “weird” watering can or something like that. Interested to see what other content is new or changed. In the original Another Wonderful Life, I married Rock. And there’s a cutscene where his teenage son is yelling at him for never having done anything. You can choose to “punish” him and your character will smack your son. If they removed animal deaths, I suppose things like this might have gotten taken out too?
Oh, I did not know about that event with Rock! I think it's fair to assume there is probably no smacking. 😅 I'm thinking of marrying him in the English version, so we'll see!
One thing I appreciate with this remake is that it allows you to grow old and happy in a same sex relationship. I can't think of any video games, or even media that depicts aging in a same sex relationship.
So glad that you are covering this. I never played any of the original games, SDV was my intro to the genre. I won't have any nostalgia to grease the wheels of my game enjoyment. And I know this is going to be pretty pricey as well.
I played HM:DS Cute and I know it's not the same, but I feel as if I was about to see old friends again ❤ Although... I was surprised I didn't remember Samantha, and then I realised why...😅
I feel like a lot of ideas and mechanics from this game have so much potential. I kind of wish they would take some of the more interesting elements and use them in future games.
Harvest Moon had so many great ideas and mechanics. It makes it so frustrating that devs are only looking at what SDV is doing! The child raising mechanic was so fun and I'd like to see it return!
@@NaNa-ou1sg Yeah, I also liked how cows worked in the original, even though it could probably be tweaked a bit. I like the idea that the most rewarding animal monetarily is the hardest to raise.
@@NaNa-ou1sg yeah but I heard how tough it is to add a kid that grows up to a game. I think its laziness though not many games do it. My time at sandrock opted out of that for letting us have a kid of school age. My time at sandrock basically said it would be too difficult
The swifter watering and the funky hybrids make me want to play this gake so much! I have been avoiding a lot of farm sims because of how swift the days go by. But I am hungry for this after your demo
Oh no! I was so looking forward to the cow breeding mechanics! I really liked the realism from the old game where you had to breed your cows so they kept producing milk. I'm kind of disappointed now. :(
I wonder if it'll be impossible to mod like other SoS games in recent years. If the community is able to mod it then it could easily fix all of those weak areas. Fingers crossed!
I do wish other characters died of old age including takakura. Maybe after ramona and the butler passed a young niece or something would take over the mansion if not lumina + if some of not all the bachelors and bachelorettes got together and had their own child like animal parade 😭 would have been the perfect harvest moon game
Man, I really hope they add updates and DLC like they did for POOT. It would just make the $80 price tag a little more worth it, you know? I got mine yesterday on Switch, and I absolutely got some jank/glitches and wonky shadows/sunlight effects. No lag so far, unlike POOT. I don't think the Tutorials were very good. I didn't play the OG, so I had no idea grass grew from fertilizer. So far, I do like the Mineral Town remake better, probably because I liked those villagers more. Also, the Premium edition's plushie and banner were smaller than the POOT one, so that was a bummer. I love how you can control the camera, and the pretty scenery. I don't get the point of the Mountain Pass (you just get a black loading screen, and an entire day has passed? WTF?) unless that's something which is unlocked later on. I also really miss the 2-D art of the characters which popped up when you spoke to them. The first-person view just seems janky still. I also didn't like that many items cannot be shipped at all. It's a much more polished game than POOT, but POOT had much more content and things to do. This game was so close to being great, but it's just good--mostly for nostalgia reasons.
Love the sound of all the QoL improvements but still can't really get over the removal of punishing players for neglecting the animals. I get death is scary and all that but it really hit hard when you found out what happens when you don't take care of them in the original. Never made that mistake again. I'm not a fan of mechanics that don't really need to be utilized in general either.
My preorder just downloaded. This was my first harvest moon game as a kid on gamecube and ive collected every single title up to the story of seasons change in title. Ive been awaiting this remake for years. Its my fave Nintendo game. Besides zelda. I never got to play the special edition of the game since i didnt own a playstation. So im excited to try all those features. Daughter, lumina, ect
Tbh, I'm glad there still aren't sprinklers. one of the reasons i still tend to Harvest Moon: FoMT over Stardew Valley is, well, nostalgia, but another is that the sprinklers add a level of automation that's not my fave. It's like doing the game so much that now there's a part of the game you don't have to do anymore. Yeah they're the harvest sprites, but that feels more using socializing as a way to mitigate farmwork (in a similar way, you can focus on farmwork year one and build everything out super quick so you can have everything you need to socialize more easily, since so many people love mid-to-late-game farm items). You're using the mechanics of the game in different balances, not buying your way out of certain aspects of it. Not that there's anything wrong with sprinklers, btw. Farm automation must really work for some people, in a sort of Factorio sense, it's just not for me. I like watering my little plants.
I completely agree! I really liked the harvest sprites, a very unique way to automate the work. And if you liked watering the crops, they could do other things like harvesting or taking care of livestock! I wish they could come back in a future game.
@@JoshGamingGarden I’m wondering if there are any plans to revisit harvest moon DS in this era of remakes. It definitely feels like that’s the game that did harvest sprites the most (even if it’s up for debate whether the greatest quantity of sprites equals the highest quality), though I honestly don’t see myself going back to it anytime soon. FoMT and AWL both may be more simple, but that means the games themselves communicate what they’re doing more clearly, and that’s arguably more important than putting all your favorite mechanics or ideas into one game all slapdash.
For a game marketed solely to nostalgia (at least in the USA where there is zero press or ads for it) it is a shame that rather than solely expanded a remake, they remove certain features such as animals getting sick or needing to avoid the rain. The graphics were also simplified wayy too much and made too cute (looks like a mobile game). The characters and animals have so much less character. The npc's should've been expanded upon with more dialogue and interractions. It being a “faithful remake” while removing such features is a buzz-kill. Why not just add upon the original rather than take away. 💔 If anything it makes me just wanna play the original, which I still have. Was hoping for the remake to be just like it but with faster farmimg controls, better graphics, more sound effects & music, more challenges, and more to do. A remaster would've been nice too. Wells, still pre-ordered it and can't wait to give it a try. I waited a decade for another A Wonderful Life style of game! 💚 Definitely can’t wait to experience faster and easier farming. The original I remember I used to praise rainy days because otherwise it took a full day to water all the crops haha
I honestly think it’s a slap in the face to have changed Murrey’s design so drastically. Murrey is homeless. He goes into your fridge to raid it for any food. He has flies all around him. He’s not meant to be a comfort character. He’s supposed to make you uncomfortable. While letting you see that regardless of how you feel. This is still a person like any other person. And Murrey is a really nice dude. But it says a lot when they decide to remake his design. As well as having your animals not die. Completely missing the point of their own original game. Life is short. It’s precious. Don’t waste it. Take care of it. Having your animals be able to get sick and die was not something any other game had the balls to do. It was different. But it fit with the themes of the AWL game. But this one.. it just seems to miss the point. And that’s disappointing. It’s one of my favorite harvest moon/ story of seasons games. I was excited for it until I found out about those changes.
Your review was refreshing cuz this remake is being crushed mostly. From what i get we have to change our mindset going into this game, it's not a typical farming sim like we used to lately. The biggest con to me is the npc dialogue, that's a big shame. I might try it and see for myself.
Thanks for making this video! I do plan on getting the game eventually so it's nice to know all of the gameplay mechanics ahead of time. The hard part is figuring out who to marry since only 2 of the bachelors have my interest (100% straight woman btw). Dumb question but there are Heart events right?
I suppose they did put more variety on the guys than the girls this time, which would reduce the number of male options for those interested in a husband. Off the top of my head, I think most games usually have had most of the female candidates as reasonable choices. Nami (or whatever her name is now) wasn't really too interesting for me. Too dark and moody of a personality that she didn't really seem to have as much of one lol. I wonder if they managed to make her have a lot more personality as a wife and mother.
I think I'm gonna wait for the mods that come out for this before I buy it. I'm not surprised about the boring dialogue, considering PoOT had that problem too.
Were seasons only 10 days in Another Wonderful Life on the Gamecube? That was the one I played, and I could have sworn that there were 30 days in a month bc as a kid I didn’t understand how waiting for crops to grow worked, and ended up killing my cow because I planted fodder WAY too late and then kept sleeping so it would “grow” faster 😂😭
Is it worth playing if you didn't play the original game as a child? Seems like a lot of people like it for nostalgia but I won't have that since I didn't play the original.
Problem with these remakes are for me is that they make it to truthfully. Just add more stuff man. Was maybe fine back then but now? If they keep this up. Nothing wil ever beat stardew valley Specialy with mods like expanded and more lore friendly dialog. Also the soundtracks are awesome and seasons look great. I wil play it and hope it gets modded probably not tho. They aren’t that popular compared to stardew because i think its very mod unfriendly the seasons. I just hope when i play I don’t get the’ man i want to play stardew’ feeling XD so much more to do there
They are pumping them out too fast instead of just focusing on one game and making it amazing. 😢 Story of seasons has the chance to be great. Instead it's leaning toward becoming Pokemon.
I'm kinda mad about the limited dialogue. I was hoping for more changes each year, but I knew it had very little chance. The lack of dialogue is bs, though. That's not even hard to add.
I know you really liked the breeding/milking mechanic, but now that I know it's gone, I think I'll play this game again. I didn't like the mechanic, but to be fair I think I was too young when I played this game because I honestly don't remember the hybrid mechanic. Randomly, I didn't like the breeding/milking mechanic because I never kept track of it well, felt like I was missing out on milking and then hated to sell off my calves, but if I didn't sell them then I wouldn't have room for more calves so I could get milk. It didn't make me feel good as a kid?
8:15 i was just casually listening to u while playing the game and my jaw dropped because i've upgraded my tools for quite a while but my dumb brains forgot what it meant when you upgrade a tool. i literally had to put my game down in shock
I’m still not quite sure. From the handful of reviews I have seen, it just sounds like this game doesn’t really bring anything new to the table and there’s no point buying it unless you’re just nostalgic for the original. I know they’ve done some updates from the game two version, but it sounds like they haven’t done enough for it to stand on its own. Maybe that’s not true though? The impression I’m getting though it’s just that it’s kind of baron an empty. And boring especially after the first year. I’m kind of on the fence though because I was waiting to get this. I mean, simplicity can be a good thing, that’s why I love Littlewood. But do you think Wylde Flowers is a better game? It’s going on sale this week and I’ve had my eye on that one. Story of Seasons just doesn’t seem to impress me too much.
Thank you, Josh. Honestly though, I’ve the GC “Another Wonderful Life”, and I ordered the premium version of this remake and I already regret it. You’d think that since they removed farming features, shrunk the farm, and put more focus on the socialising, they would at least try to improve the dialogue. But, nope! The new character designs are rubbish and the dialogue is bad. I feel like Marvelous have lost the plot.
Thanks for this great review, Josh! I loved the original game as a kid and the remake looks like there are plenty of improvements that will make it enjoyable as an adult. The one graphical issue that stands out to me is the pop/fade-in of the tree shadows (e.g. 6:07, 12:20). That's pretty bad imo, especially when riding the horse, but maybe you get used to it.
I’m in winter of the first year and I’m having a great time so far there’s a lot of fun improvements from the original but I don’t like the changes with animals like cows not needing to breed or animals not getting sick. They literally gave you a bigger barn upgrade and made you able to breed goats fixing the only issues with the old system and then got rid of the unique mechanics. Also since you can breed sheep in this game it would be cool if they gave milk too but considering how much wool sells for that might be a bit strong.
I like the idea of this. My favourite harvest moon/ story of season games will always be the ones that were released on Wii where you had to do silly little tasks to unlock the rainbows or the music notes to unlock the harvest goddess. I think it just added a nice undercurrent to keep you going in smaller chunks rather than in one big. Keep your farm going task
Played it back in the day on my og gamecube. Can't wait to get this game for my b-day next week. :3 Especially because I now have a 3 year old kid of my own and it will be interesting to replay this game as a young parent. ^^
In the original you could make loads of money buy putting your bananas in the seed maker and sell yhe seeds for a huge price. I think theyve nerfed that option a bit but its still a decent money making option. Still havent discovered the hybrid crops.
Thank you for posting this,I love the harvest moon/Story of seasons games I've played since they brought them out on the Nintendo ds,I'm kind of sad there is no mining, its one of my favourite things to do in these games
It was absolutely amazing playing this game as a little boy. Now being a 26 year old man and having a woman and a 2 year old boy, this game will strike home with me once again. Amidst all the stress from work and adult stuff most of us didn't have to worry about when the original game came out, it is games like this that allow you to sit back, relax, enjoy the little things and realize that it truly is "A Wonderful Life"!
Absolutely cant wait! I know you said cows give milk forever (which honestly i love bc in the original i could never get more than 2 cows giving milk at once bc you couldnt have more than 1 pregnant at a time either!!) But do they have to give birth at least once? Or does a cow that you just bought/just grew up give milk automatically?
I was so excited for this game, and then I saw the price. Talk about a gut punch! I just bought Tears of the Kingdom for $80 (Canada) you're telling me that this game is worth $70?! Are we insane, Story of Seasons crew?!
I agree the animal should have more realistic take similar to old game. The reason why I love the old game So much cause there aging and Seeing ur children grow. Plus it has More realistic stuff than the game Right after it where There a continuous loop
Great review❤ but I'm still unsure to buy it because I found olive town very boring. I think I no longer enjoy cosy games and rather something a bit challenging or at least with some form of difficulty, like RF4 or the farming games we have with other supplier. Thank you as always
I played all the originals and I’m excited to play this on the 27th! I have discovered through the years that I am big on decorating I’m just wondering if this game has that feature kind of like animal crossing where you can decorate your home and you can decorate your town/farm. I’m very big on that. Does this offer that at all? I am open to suggestions on another really good farming game that offers lots of decorating both home and farm 🥰 I’ve played pretty much all the story of seasons.. currently I am playing friends of the great kingdom. Pioneers of olive town is one of my favorites next to AC any others you can suggest with lots of decorative options?
I'm new to Story of Seasons games as of the Switch. I really liked both Mineral Town & Olive Town (only have a few hours into Doraemon SoS)... but I'm not sure about this one. I don't like that I have to get married & have a kid to progress the story. I never get married in my farming games... I just want to farm & raise livestock.
Should you get it? Totally! Is it worth the price? Not really. I just speedrun through Celia route, so this is based on my opinion why you should get it (on discount if possible). 1. For the amount of content, the price is kind of meh. I know this is a remake, remaster, or whatever it is, but the repetitive dialog every day is killing me. I might have raised my standard from playing too much Rune Factory, but at the very least I hope they make the conversation varying from time to time. 2. Again related to the story. I wish they add more mini story, side story, or just any kind of plot because... It's not cheap, this game... 3. The only Magnum Opus of this remake is everything become faster and easier. Goodbye slow-janky watering crops animation. You can focus more on building friendship rather than wasting time on the field. 4. Colorful and cute? Personally I prefer the old Harvest Moon bleak and retro style lenses, probably since I played too much old harvest moon back then. But this might be a cons for you who prefer brighter atmosphere. Why not to get this game? They fricking change almost all name. What the hck is forgotten valley!? It's Forget Me Not Valley! The conclusion, if you are among these category: farming sim maniac, harvest moon+SoS+RF fan, or old player who want to get that nostalgic time again in modern form, definitely get this game. But again, the price is kind of ridiculous.
I wasn’t a fan of the 6th gen AWL games, time flows too fast and the pc does everything too slowly. The graphics update is nice and NPC updates are good as well but I don’t feel like they fixed the fundamental issue: the farming is bad in this farming sim game.
I hope the teddy bear still moves once in a cut scene. I kinda wish/hope that u could keep going past the last year because I wish I keep doing hybrids.
I played the original one on GameCube and honestly I guess I took really good care of my animals because I never had a death scene with any animals, only in animal parade they die regardless since they go by lifespans. The hybrid plant was called Tartan and you could've train the cows to milk themselves and they gave milk twice a day. It almost makes me feel like people neglect the original that they didn't realize lots of things. For instance I still have no idea what was the significance of seeing your child's teddy bear moving on its own and stops when it spots you. Does the new version also have recipes in everyone's house to find on the fridge or somewhere around the house or kitchen?
AWL was my real first Harvest moon and I loved the chapters feature. I wasnt going to buy that game Day 1 since FF16 is releasing this week but... I think i'm gonna treat myself on that one 😂 How was the performance on the Switch ?
I know if you marry Gordy the child will be dark skinned. But if your character is dark skinned and marries a light skinned character will the baby be dark skinned like the mother or is Gordy’s child the only dark skinned kid?
When I played this on the GameCube, when my first cow Paige died I was CRUSHED. I didn't understand the feeding mechanics well, so I didn't fertilize the grass and kept trying to buy feed. I was literally crying at one point as a small child feeding Paige good fodder to keep her from dying. Honestly, a great lesson to teach kids. Better my virtual cow dies than my cat lol
RIP Paige 💔😭
RIP Paige 😢
This also happened to me with my Chicken Skye, but in Trio of Towns. I thought feed lasted longer than it actually did and I didn't know cleaning the barn and coop was a thing until after the scene where I lost her. 😮
It was pretty confusing for me too as a kid lol I didn’t care too much when my cow starved I just fished for profit
I played the original on GameCube (both the male character and female character editions) and it’s so nostalgic. I’m absolutely jazzed for this remake
This is the first thing I look for in any new HM game. It's very disappointing to hear.
Same...
I hope they do also.
I hear you.
also remove the same sex marriage, doesnt make any sense
@@estrellian7095 ........how? You know gay people are a thing in real life and can adopt children? So same sex marriage 'doesn't make any sense' but having a harvest goddess that comes out of a pond, small little fairy creatures that live in a tree that you can shrink down and visit to teach you how to cook and a literal yeti all make sense to you? Okay bigot.
@@estrellian7095gay ppl existing doesn’t make sense???
@@julshape7804treu but stardew valley did basically everything better. Then the original moon games plus new things.
So what I want to make clear is I love Marvelous' games and even more ConcernApe's game but I don't like people who always say "oh they stole this from another game"
What's the problem?
The review I was waiting for! coming from the farming sim King himself! thank you Josh!
Not straightforward enough got me.
I'm too used to the simple game play of POOT
I never had the opportunity to play the original...so I'm really looking forward to playing this one!
I'm so thankful that they remade this 😭
I hope you get it for the 27th (or who knows, earlier)! 🤞 Have fun!
Hope you're enjoying it!
Wow 100hrs! Thank you for putting in the time; and the great review, I really appreciate your attention to detail
I forgot about the goats in the original game. Those freeloaders lol
I’m glad they updated the tools.
Yes I love gradual season changes too! I wish more games did this. It's more immersive
This was one of my absolute faves on gamecube. Can't wait to play the remake.
Super excited for this game. The simplified animals feels good to me, I don't mind it. Thanks for your comprehensive review, Josh!
I feel like a lot of ideas and mechanics from this game have so much potential. I kind of wish they would take some of the more interesting elements and use them in future games.
I would love if this game had dlc. I doubt it will though since Japan has had it for so long and they got nothing.
I hope they remake “ HM: Animal Parade”. That game was peak!🔥
I wonder if it'll be impossible to mod like other SoS games in recent years. If the community is able to mod it then it could easily fix all of those weak areas. Fingers crossed!
Think not friends of mineral town modding looks bare. Think stardew have probably better mod support. Its also very simple graphics to
@@SilentSpringz That's what I'm assuming too, but who knows. I'm keeping hope! lol
It’s definitely worth it and I’ll be sure to pick this one up next week.
Nah its missing so many features
If anything it makes me just wanna play the original, which I still have.
I always wonder why in almost all farm sim, school never exist
Watching you play it has been a pleasure. Can’t wait to play it for myself soon 😁
I’ve been waiting for this! 😝 about to eat dinner while watching ❤
Def hyped for this. Thank you Josh for a great review!
I've been wondering whether to buy this game, and this review was exactly what I needed. Thanks Josh!
😢
Story of seasons has the chance to be great. Instead it's leaning toward becoming Pokemon.
The best review ever! Thank you Josh for making this video
“Which was released about 20 years ago” I’m turning 28 soon and I did not need the reminder that yes, yes I am that old 😭😭
Thank you Josh for the great review, as always! I’m so excited to get this game I have pre-ordered it.
I miss the original way the cows had to have babies to give milk but still excited
I like the animals not getting sick.
I always took care of my animals and they still died over time.
So I like this change.
I’ve been waiting for this review!! Thanks Josh
Tree of Tranquility was amazing
I’m so excited to play this when it comes out in English next week!! The visuals are 🤌🏻
Played it back in the day on my og gamecube. Can't wait to get this game for my b-day next week. :3 Especially because I now have a 3 year old kid of my own and it will be interesting to replay this game as a young parent. ^^
Thank you so much for the early review, I can't wait to get this!
I miss giving medicine to my animals in the older games 😅.
They just grow up and give milk after a few days. They don't need to give birth ever.
I was so excited for this game, and then I saw the price. Talk about a gut punch! I just bought Tears of the Kingdom for $80 (Canada) you're telling me that this game is worth $70?! Are we insane, Story of Seasons crew?!
Great review Josh, I love all the detail and honest, I really enjoyed this review
I played Harvest Moon a wonderful life on the gamecube & still do sometimes. I'm looking forward to the release of this game
I agree the animal should have more realistic take similar to old game. The reason why I love the old game
So much cause there aging and
Seeing ur children grow. Plus it has
More realistic stuff than the game
Right after it where There a continuous loop
thanks josh for another great review, i’ll definitely preorder this
Great review❤ but I'm still unsure to buy it because I found olive town very boring. I think I no longer enjoy cosy games and rather something a bit challenging or at least with some form of difficulty, like RF4 or the farming games we have with other supplier. Thank you as always
Such a great review! So I’m depth and informative!!! And I love your accent ☺️I can’t wait to play this game! Love your channel
Think I'll skip. RF4 allows to have child to grow but do not force you to do it. Now I want to play original on emulator.
I want animal parade and trio of towns remakes.
I am soooo impatient for the English release T_T
Less than a week! We can wait that long!
Saaaame 😫
I'm just happy to get a remake of my favorite childhood game ☺️🧡
The conclusion, if you are among these category:
farming sim maniac, harvest moon+SoS+RF fan, or old player who want to get that nostalgic time again in modern form, definitely get this game. But again, the price is kind of ridiculous.
This was a really helpful review!
I wasn’t a fan of the 6th gen AWL games, time flows too fast and the pc does everything too slowly. The graphics update is nice and NPC updates are good as well but I don’t feel like they fixed the fundamental issue: the farming is bad in this farming sim game.
Thanks for this video, I'm so excited to play the remake!
Finally no more cutting the grass one by one and watching the field grow unevenly!!!!
I was disappointed by Pioneers but I'll get it if it's on sale some day :3
I probably would only pick it up on a sale.
I think i'm gonna treat myself on that one 😂
How was the performance on the Switch ?
I know if you marry Gordy the child will be dark skinned. But if your character is dark skinned and marries a light skinned character will the baby be dark skinned like the mother or is Gordy’s child the only dark skinned kid?
