*Totally impressive **Fastly.Cool** in my room. Wish I designed this myself. We can’t believe how quiet it is. It’s not as heavy as our last AC unit but it works more evenly and efficiently. Extremely happy with this purchase.*
Hey. Thanks for the video ... so it's a little long, who cares? Easy enough to step through to the parts I'm interested in. So just picked one up at Costco and my unit has the same crack your's does. Hopefully costco will be as accomodating as HD ! Also, I also noticed the discrepancy in the instructions that you mention at 26:25. Incredible that Danby would show two different ways to use the Window Gasket AND two different ways to use the adhesive seal strip. The diagram says to put the adhesive foam on the bottom of the top sash so it seals the area between it and the a/c, And it says to put the non-adhesive foam in between the two sashes, AND it says to put the weather-stripping 'calfeurtrage" stips on top of the adhesive seal. But the owner's manual says to put the non-adhesive foam on the sill for the a/c to sit on, and it says to use the adhesive foam into the space between the two sashes (which seems crazy). Anyways, quite a mess and thanks for mentioning it because I thought I didn't understand something - i understand perfectly well that Danby is contradicting itself. I think this is a problem of French and English speaking folks trying to work together ...even with pictures they get it wrong. Too bad customer support isn't around on weekends or I'd call them around.
Thanks for the video. I'm looking to put one up in a second floor window, and since me and ladders don't get a long to well, I'm really hoping it can be done without having to remove anything from the window on the outside. I have a electrician coming Thursday to add a outlet right beneath the window for the AC. Will need it soon as my room is now my room/office, which is upstairs, and it gets HOT in the summer. Normally a fan would be OK but with the new office equipment, definitely will need AC.
Hi Kaden, the main point of the side baffles is to just close up the window opening to keep the warm outside air from coming into the cold conditioned room. If you have some rigid foam that you can cut to fill the void, that would be an excellent solution as long as you use some tape around the seams to prevent unwanted airflow between the window and foam. Hope this helps!
Hey mike I noticed you have the Danby 12000 btu portable Ac and this 6000 btu window Ac. I’m wondering which one you find cools better? I know portable Ac don’t work as well as window units but your portable Ac is double the btu rating.
Hi Frank, these were for two different houses. The portable unit was for a large family room in a California home before we moved to Vermont. In our Vermont home, we have smaller rooms so I felt that the window units would be sufficient. I do think that if you put the two side by side in the same room, the 12k will most definitely cool faster, but depending on the size of your room, the 6k may be sufficient. How big a room are you trying to cool? I will say that the 12k unit was a bit louder than these window units.
No. It will damage your AC unit and will not function properly. Do a google search of your question and you will see a number of websites explaining in detail why window units cannot be installed sideways.
Hi Bryan, I feel like are significantly quieter than other window units that I've heard in the past, but as I'm not an HVAC professional, I don't really have an easy way to do a side-by-side comparison with other new units from other brands. When the chiller is on (meaning actively cooling vs. just fan), it is definitely louder than when just the fan is running. The fan is whisper quiet. I have my bedroom unit installed probably within 4-5 feet of when I sleep so I'd be lying if I said I haven't been woken up by it, but it's not bad at all by any means. And I know that different people have different tolerances to noise so it maybe worth mentioning that I'm quite noise adverse. I live on a very quiet dirt road in a rural area in Vermont so when the AC kicks on it is often the only thing making noise so I still notice it, but as I said before - it is not bad at all. I hope this helps.
@@mikekim5135 Thanks for taking the time to reply. Makes sense. Compressors usually are the louder part. I have had to adapt to the sound of a portable AC before. That took awhile.
Hey Mike , I'm a light sleeper too , were you wearing ear plugs when it woke you up? I'm thinking of buying this window AC but my big concern is that it's quiet
We have them in rooms that are between 150 and 200 sq ft and they cool the rooms quite quickly. Please keep in mind these are 6000 BTU units so if you have bigger rooms, you will want bigger units. Hope this helps.
Overall the video had some good footage that was useful. However please trim the crap out. Like 2/3 of it is garbage. Your other stuff is good, don't ruin it with junk. Take care.
Haha. You are such a troll. You came here looking for install tips because apparently, you can't read the instructions yourself. It's youtube, idiot. It's not broadcast TV or a feature film. You can scrub through the parts that bore you. Nobody is forcing you to sit through the whole goddamn thing.
All the time we had to watch you deal with the storm window which has little to do with the AC unit was like the pod race in Star Wars episode 1. Please don't make anymore videos.
Do you really think I'm sitting here around 10:30pm trying to install an AC unit and I'm looking for help on RUclips? I am considering buying one and want to see if people have any issues with putting it in. Please stop making videos.

Thanks, really appreciate your great instructions.Absolutely perfect

Good luck with thew install. Stay cool and stay safe! Cheers.
Good video. On my AC there's a pull tab in front just to the right of display panel. What's it for?
thanks for the video. ‘’Like a glove’’ lol
You're welcome. Thank you for watchingl
Can you use foam on the side I don’t have the sides for it

does it cool a room?
Yes, it will cool a room quite nicely even on hot summer days. Cheers.
thank you
Thanks

Can i install it sideway? Ty

Thank you 🙏🏼 very helpful video!

Did this Danby unit end up being as quiet as they claim?

@@jjpp828 No. I usually do not wear ear plugs when I sleep. I think if you had ear plugs in, you would barely hear a thing.
Don't be so sensitive. Overall your video was good. Take it easy.
Haha. You're still here?! Your first comment was over an hour ago. And my video is only 31 minutes long. Move along already.
Why would you take shots with half or none of your head in it?
do they cool

I'd just stack up a couple of washers underneath the clip and use a longer screw to make the clip sit flat.
That is a great idea. I will definitely do that this year when I reinstall. Thanks for the tip!
