- Reinforced concrete is heavy and its steel skeleton vulnerable to rust. Now researchers have replaced the steel with carbon fibre mesh. The result is lighter and more flexible than standard concrete slabs.
its not new because lots of material in ancient time use mixer of fiber and cement type of material use by them to make more structural and complex building like ancient temple
No mention of Concrete Canvas which can already "make chairs and tables" etc and is in fact in widespread use already and doesn't need to be made with expensive carbon fibres.
Canvas is old tech. Basalt material is MUCH stronger and is in every way FAR better than canvas.
@@patrickeh696 and far cheaper than carbon fiber too. Only a German would ever consider carbon fiber as concrete reinforcement (the most energy intensive and expensive fiber to produce in the world) and then brag about their "lowering emissions."

well... 60% of their power comes from coal it's no surprise that the most greedy idea would be to find another use for that huge stockpile of coal they already have!
Carbon fiber is inferior in several ways to basalt fibers. Basalt fibers are cheaper to make and have the same expansion coefficient as concrete to boot.
but weaker
"Concrete is a mix of cement, sand and water"...mmmm what about the stones?
Stones is meant as aggregate. Sand is basically aggregate.
Concrete is a mixture of Sand, cement, water AND aggregate (usually crushed rock).
Great invention!. Is this materijal commercially available now
Concrete is a mixture of gravel sand cement and water ...not just cement, sand and water
Shemar Roberts when they say sand they mean both coarse and fine aggregates.
Very interesting concept.
it looks amazing. I'd love to work with it.
You did NOT invent TExtile conrete.. seriously..? sigh..
How much does it cost?
we choose textile reinforced concrete as our final year thesis, where can i get this textile sample for our project...
we are from INDIA.......
Have you found the sample... I am also interested in pursuing this topic as final year thesis ..
Is this sample even available in India?
@@sounakmajumder889 Hello even i have taken this as my thesis topic this year. Did you find anything regarding this topic and materials
@@manishasharma690 sadly no....so I changed my topic....even if this material is available...it is very costly...so without any financial aid using this material in project is very difficult for a student. Hope this helps you.
@@sounakmajumder889 ohh i was thinking may be this can be done using some other material. And i will look for the testing lab. Btw may i know what project your working on now.
In addition to the fiber skeleton, you can put bits of waste carbon fiber, to help bind everything in case of cracks or fractures.
-another good thing to do is to put sensors inside at regular intervals, besides use external means to check.
it is total BS...it isn't invention at all.. I'm sorry to say..sorry because better to use stainless steel than this..at least it would be cheaper....there is no mentioning of the price..and there is good reason for that...Another 'invention' that works..but is very unpractical..If they said .price will be same as steel ..then it would be something new..
If your research is to make a more ecological material, why not looking for less transformed fibres like straw, whool or anything abundant, with a little footprint to get, and at the end, recyclable and biodegradable ?
can we use this in concrete road materials with a good base.....
wow!!!Really great for furniture industry!!
Alot more expensive then fiberglass. Yes, it's better in some ways. But, does the cost justify the improvement.
And how to recycle it; or will it have to be dumped like the wind turbine blades.
If you build a home and prep the frame properly before pouring the cement you can even use chicken wire. Anything adding to the concrete to assist with street if better than nothing. My dream is to used metal fences between my concrete walls so the house doesn't fall on my if we have an earthquake.
Actually chicken wire will corrode and can cause lamination.
chicken wire will cause internal failure of the concrete. Best to use basalt mesh.
Carbon fibers are usualy made out of Oil ...
derxman and they crack and go brittle over time. This won’t work. Polymers CAN replace steel, and can be made from plant material at a much lower price. Cellulosic material (wood or herb stalk with lignin removed) can also be used, and with new technologies, we can make it much stronger than steel and make it in long sections.
Basalt fiber
Can we use textile concrete instead of reinforced concrete in buildingss???
how the sustained load corrosion can be tested in trc for obtaining its performance under the combined action of load and marine environment...pls explain
Where can I buy that textile for research only
Thank you for sharing this kind of information!
Just use Helix steel reinforced concrete!!
Wayyy better!
Justice Warrior can you please provide source for this. I’m trying to do some research on concrete and I’d like to read the paper on it

Just right the name on RUclips or Google!!

Thank Ladies and Gentlemen today
They really put a go pro in a concrete bucket lmao
Wow, Germany is only now using this tech?
Why do they call it textile, when there is a metal mesh inside
the use of FIBERS and WEAVING = textile as a generic term
metal mesh? I thought it was carbon fiber?
I hope this will replace plastics.
German engineering
Great
really cool product for the rich , basically its the same thing every good product overlooks the poor , its all about money
no. its not at all. this is cheaper. the materials are less, energy to produce is less, and the size and weight is less. all of these things means cheaper product. the only thing that had its initial cost high was not enough production. they have already automated it, and the price is steadily going down as more production facilities are created. this is how technology works and comes to market.
carmichael moritz you remind me of a college student I had in my class. His ideal society would be the kind of society that could share everything with out paying for. It may be possible, however keep in mind that everything has a cost for it production.
I wouldn't say the poor couldn't own it, I would say they have to work a little hard it and safe a little more. If you want it so bad it will happen.
james m ,, so are you saying it would be more cost efficient using this material to make a end product wall basement that is strong enough to with stand the pressure of the earth ... i need to build a low cost basement that goes below the earths surface ...
j r ... yeah i know about the cost ... thats why more people need to be less greedy and volunteer a whole lot more of their time ... people wont do this though ,,, the wealthy always want more ...
What about joining this tech with air-crete methods?
How to produce that mesh?
it broke on the edge of bar, I' bet a earthquake test would prove it's truly valuable !
