The Vanquish loves to eat up Batteries fast. but over all I am impressed with the 340 and 540..the 8 inch coil on the 540 is a great coil for the detector
I know mate maybe the 8" coil would be better as the big coils OK for the beech and big open fields for more deph. My mate had the simple 9v battery cscope cs1mx and it was magic in the park with it's 17khz and excellent pinpointing skills with it's little 8" polo coil. Only thing is it did like the penny's and 2pences as you can't discriminate any copper on them cscopes even if you turn it all the way up to 10 max. Where as the vanquish is 25 for a penny and 28 for 2pences and old penny's 18/20. Hope this may be some help to you and if you do get the small coil let me know if it's any good on the vanquish as I've heard the 4" sniper coil was good on the old garrett aces but not sure they do for the new ace and it looks a bit of a lotto numbers machine if you know what I mean. Lol

I just bought the 540 every one says how great it is but I tried to use it in the park near swings and slippery dip bloody useless you can’t get close at all to any steel like a metre away or 1.5 metres my bloody Bounty Hunter can go through the little park with the swings and all the slippery dips are at least 6 inches away from steel or iron and I got the rechargeable nickel metal hydride batteries and it said in the hand book that they were already charged from factory they were half flat then when I whent to charge them it said they will take 8 hrs to charge and the light will go green the bloody thing was charging for 10.5 hrs and it never whent green so I switched it off
No use head phones it will save battery s or buy this RNB Innovations battery pack lithium iron 6000 mah gos for at least 30 hrs detecting and longer with headphones

Me again yea to use the 540 in the park you need to turn down the sensitivity a lot so then you can get close to the swing and slippery dip
Not tryed it with the v12 coil on but with the update think the boy could be real good.!!!!
