Sleep Token - Ascensionism // Full Bass Cover

Have been listening to this song on repeat since it came out so really wanted to do a full cover. Shaping a bass tone to sound like a synth was really fun, I think it came out pretty close for not being an actual synth!

i know nothing about bass, but i can never hear it in songs whereas i can seperate every other instrument but in a few sleep token songs i can really hear it, this is literally amazing. i also love how when the music is so loud i feel the vibrations in my feet lol

Wait why did you play on the last strings and then use an octaver to lower your notes by one octave ? Why not play directly on the two first strings ? (i'm just wondering really)

Good question - it does look weird to be honest. To get the ‘bass synth’ sound it works better to octave down higher strings - just ends up sounding better for that effect ☺️

Oh and Archetype Rabea’s synth tracks really well on high bass notes but pretty poorly on low bass notes so it was much cleaner.

Thanks so much! Helix was only a portion of the signal chain, the rest used the synth section of neural dsp’s Archetype Rabea.
So unfortunately on its own the helix preset won’t be the same 😅
