The city of Armagh is worth visiting. Jonathan Swift lived there. The Catholic cathedral is beautiful. Trout fishing in Northern Ireland is very good; best to hire the services of a ghillie who will know the local waters. When it comes to fishing in England, the most popular species is carp. Trout andsalmon fishing in Scotland and Wales is significantly cheaper than in England. Finally, you might like to react to "John Noakes Cleans Nelson's Column", it's a health and safety nightmare. There's a lot more to Northern Ireland than its recent history. Its best asset is the people.

The reason Belfast is probably the best place to stay is because it's pretty central to all the locations you would want to visit, but if you're going to hire a car you can stay anywhere at all, belfast is probably more expensive so might be worthwhile finding somewhere just outside it, it's not that big of a country you could drive right round it in a day if you wanted (without stopping much lol).
June-August is probably the nicest time to visit (Weather wise) but obviously more tourists at the same time.

As a kid growing up in London in the 70s, we knew Northern Ireland as a "war zone", and not somewhere you would ever consider going to visit or for a holiday. One of the girls in my class at primary school had a mother who was from Belfast, and every year during the summer holidays, she and her family would go there to visit family. We literally feared for her life, and often wondered whether she would actually return to our Battersea school when the new term started. But such thoughts were driven by what we witnessed on the TV news, and she always came back to us safe and sound, having had a lovely time!
Cut to 2008, and I finally found myself boarding a plane bound for Belfast. I knew I had to go to see the place that; in my youth; was somewhere to be feared. But I had always been fascinated by the Giant's Causeway, and needed to see it for myself. I rented a car and drove the length of the Antrim coast, stopping wherever I felt like just to explore and take photos. I WAS BLOWN AWAY BY THE BEAUTY!!! Incredible beaches, cliffs, seaside villages, harbours, ruined castles, friendly people, the whole trip was just amazing!
I still think that to this day, some Brits are wary of visiting this beautiful part of the UK, but they really shouldn't be!
As for the Giant's Causeway, I'm sorry, but this video does it no justice whatsoever. 😊

Hi guys, I’m from County Armagh, NI. We do tend to take the scenery (greenery!) for granted a bit but when you take a step back it really is beautiful here. I think someone else mentioned it, but there’s some great local food here too and the most famous meal is probably the ‘Ulster Fry’ which is a cooked breakfast but with local Northern Irish breads added (soda bread, potato bread). Thanks for the vid, really enjoy your channel 👌

Aye, our seafood is amazing too, then again so is our 'land' foods! I would say meat, but like u, I don't eat red meat, though I've heard it's pretty damn good too! I'm also in County Armagh (pronounced like R-ma, said quite quickly). I grew up in Co. Antrim, though when I left home, I moved here with my husband-to-be. This village has only 1 main street...it runs down the centre of the village. The roads off it, either lead into the housing developments or back towards the main roads. The strange thing is that the County border line runs down that main street. So, although my area is Co. Armagh, my cousin who lives on the other side of that main street is in Co.Antrim!

I am so happy you featured this today. I went with 6 girlfriends to N I at the end of November. We had booked flights to Budapest, Dec 21 and due to the war ( Hungary has a border with Ukraine) and Covid, we were given the chance to cancel and take a timed voucher which we did. Time was running out so I suggested Belfast as it was the furthest west we could get🤣 Belfast was never on our tourist radar, a few of my friends were not keen but we booked anyway. So pleased we did. We have been firm friends since our boys started school 37 years ago and courtesy of low-cost airlines we have been lucky to have visited many, many places in Europe over the years. Our trip was one of the best we have ever taken. We visited everywhere the video featured, The wonderful Atlantic Coast, Giant's Causeway, Dark Hedges/GOT locations, Titanic Centre, and Belfast City Centre, the welcome from the people made our trip, the only thing we could not do was the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge as the weather in late November was ghastly! We were there for the Christmas Market all lit up and resplendent at the City Hall. N I charmed us, for sure.

Hi Ladies! Thanks for taking a look at Northern Ireland. I'm sure you will enjoy your trip to the whole island, and I hope the weather is kind to you when you visit.
Can I offer a few comments on the video?
Northern Ireland is roughly the size of Connecticut. The American couple focused on Counties Antrim and Down, on the eastern side of Northern Ireland; the Marble Arch Caves (over 7 miles long in total) are in the south-west, close to the border with the Republic of Ireland.
The Titanic Exhibition Centre and site really require about 3 hours to do them justice. The small boat in the video is the 'Nomadic', which took passengers from the quayside to the Titanic itself. The Nomadic has been restored and is the last White Star ship afloat. Also in the area is HMS Caroline, the last warship afloat to have taken part in the major Battle Of Jutland (1916). It is now a museum, currently closed but hopefully reopen by the time you visit.
As you are keen on castles, try to take in a genuine Norman (12th century) military castle at Carrickfergus, 12 miles from central Belfast.
A car rental (we say car hire) will certainly give you more control over your itinerary and timings. Remember we drive on the left, and if you want an automatic - book in advance!
The Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, Bushmills Distillery tour and Giant's Causeway are all fairly close to each other, but if it is mid afternoon during the summer months, leave the Causeway until last, because the last tour of the (world's oldest licensed) distillery starts about 3 pm (check this) whereas the Causeway can be visited for several hours after that.
Many visitors visit the walled city of Derry (or Londonderry). It would take about two hours to drive from Belfast at a tourist pace, but you could 'let the train take the strain' and do a day trip by rail, enjoying some lovely coastal views on part of the route.
Rail and express bus connections between Dublin and Belfast are frequent and take 2 hours 10 mins to 2 hours 35 mins, but if you are driving from Dublin, you need to detour to visit Newgrange, the 5,200 year-old passage tomb west of Drogheda, and once north of the border make a short detour from the main road (A1) into Hillsborough to visit the King's official residence in Northern Ireland.
Big period houses? Check out the National Trust properties in Northern Ireland.
Where to stay? 2023 won't be the bargain year for the $US that 2022 was. However, most of the tourist area of Belfast is in a relatively small area and there is a wide range of accommodation. The folk at Visit Belfast are very helpful with advice.
    Safe travels!

The Dark Hedges, Carrick-a-rede, Ballintoy, Giants Causeway, Dunluce Castle and Mussenden temple are all quite close. The coast road around the Glens of Antrim should be included in the road trip, with a stop at Glenariffe Forest and a walk on the waterfalls trail. Theres also some stunning beaches. Makes me so happy to see people get excited about my wee home country ❤ & it is actually that stunning in real life!! I grew up on the coastal route in a wee town called Portstewart (near the Giant’s Causeway), the beach - Portstewart Strand - was used as Dorne in GoT, they forgot to mention that that. You guys NEED to get that trip organized ASAP!
Some side notes, cuz that video you watched jumped around a little…..the caves aren’t on the coastal route. They’re in County Fermanagh near Lough Erne. This is by far where my heart aches for when I’m missing home. It is a stunning County!
& the bridge they mispronounced (understandable when you’re attempting the Irish language 😂) is pronounced Kaarick-a-Reed. It used to be rebuilt by fishermen (I think) every year & was only up & usable from spring to autumn. The rock stack you cross over to is now a wildlife sanctuary for local birds. (The sharks are basking sharks & all vegetarian 😉) I crossed the bridge years ago before it was as sturdy as now…. 😱
As for temperature. It never really goes higher than around 77F in summer in spring & autumn, you’re looking at from around 50F but ALWAYS prepare with layers & waterproofs, cuz well…..it’s Ireland 😂 enjoy ladies 🍀

You have made me laugh and cry in equal measure. Your humour and your compassion has touched me. Thank you.
If you want to do some "shorts" I recommend you look up British Pathe.
British Pathe was the way the British public got there visual news way back. Mostly short news reels of a couple of minutes that was very popular during WW2. They were shown in cinemas as TV was a little way off.
Look it up here on YT, they covered most things ,I think until the 1960s but as I said very popular in the war years.

The spectacular columns of Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland look like an architectural marvel, but the formation is entirely natural. It developed between 50 to 60 million years ago when a flood of lava oozed from fissures in the earth
What was Mussenden Temple used for?
    Downhill Demesne's history | N. Ireland | National Trust
Why was Mussenden Temple built? The Temple was originally built as a library for the Earl Bishop. The walls were lined with white lime and the bookshelves sat in the alcoves. Higher up in the temple dome, eight alcoves also displayed marble busts that the Earl Bishop had acquired.

I think most of the main attractions have already been said but I have to recommend visiting my hometown Bangor, Co. Down. More of a personal bias than anything as it used to be a tourist hotspot but has fallen on harder times recently, we do still have Bangor Abbey from 558 with come cool Viking stuff and Ballyholme Bay was used by US troops for training during World War II, with Dwight D Eisenhower setting sail from the USS Quincy there. The pier is even named after him. About 20 mins away there is also Mount Stewart, a massive Victorian estate with 950 acres of garden

The bit at the end at Torr Head is the most fantastic road segment of the Causeway Coast. If you ever do it, visit Murlough Bay which is a site along thw coast that is owned by the National Trust. There are awesome views across to the Isles of Scotland like Jura, Islay, Arran and Ailsa Craig. Fishing in N.I. is fantastic with Atlantic Salmon, trout and sea trout in the rivers and lakes and a host of other types of fish species.

Hello from the North of our beautiful island. May I be so bold to say when god sat down and decided to show his best creation in all it’s glory to all those who doubted his works he showed them Northern Ireland:) I have never took my homeland for granted, not for a second. I have always seen it’s beauty be it from my bedroom window to a Sunday walk in the meadows to sitting by my family graveside and see the rolling mountains that surround this place of of extreme beauty, yes even a graveyard, my parents resting place is breathtakingly beautiful with an ocean of Celtic crosses from time gone by sheltering you from the summer sun and winter breeze. What you saw in that wonderful video was just the tip of the iceberg we have so much more to show you here and the people will love to have you. I often think how sad it is that people travel all the way across the world to see the sights of Ireland and you know it is always the tourist sites not the places I would take you by the hand and say I will show you places that will remain engraved in your mind till the end of your days and you whisper beneath your breath “if I should leave this earth tomorrow, I have seen it all” that’s the true sites of Ireland.

I'm from County Down Northern Ireland. Great video as always ladies. The Mourne Mountains are very beautiful in County Down and all along our coastline, but keep in mind that even in the Spring or Summer months, the weather can change from one village to the next. It could be glorious sunshine, and just ten minutes up the road, dark skies and heavy cold rain. Yes, even in the Summer! So with you at all times have a waterproof light jacket and a sweater to hand because we get all seasons in one day no matter the time of year. There are also a lot of potholes in our roads because of the heavy amount of rain we get, and in country roads quite deep. Also tractors are out at all hours and seasons on tiny roads, and some drivers overtake on crazy bends. If you are driving about, hire a car that's built for the journeys ahead. Portaferry, the strangford waters are called snoring cows and have a deep and long history with the Vikings and the Normans. For castles, I would say to see in County Down Dundrum near Newcastle near the Mourne Mountains and Killyleagh castle. Lot's of amazing picnic sites as well over here like at Whiterock near Comber where you see all the tiny islands and some ancient ruins, Donaghadee and Ballywalter are also very attractive and picturesque places to visit. Hope you have a safe and pleasant trip.

Hello from Northern Ireland. Sometimes we don’t appreciate the beauty of our wee country. The Basalt columns at the Giants Causeway are the same as those found on the Isle of Staffa in Scotland and in Iceland. The Marble Arch caves are actually not on the coast but in County Fermanagh, at the Cuilcagh Boardwalk, also known as the Stairway to Heaven. The only downside to the Game of Thrones tourism is that it caused a massive increase of traffic at the Dark Hedges, resulting in damage to the roots of the row of Beech trees and many have fallen during recent storms.
