    HI Raphael. your videos are amazing. thank you. One question, it shows evaluation mode and will expire. Will my vmware cease to function after expiration.. or is there some kind of bypass of sorts? I see it shows on your video the evaluation mode warning. im having the same warning as well. thanks mate!

      Hey! Sorry for the delay and thanks for the comment, much appreciated. So when I set it up I found out there was a free license that I could download from vmware. It worked but was super limited as far as features but it worked and now its been discontnued :( So to answer your question im not sure exactly what happens. I'm looking into switching to proxmox or something thats free and no real limitations for what i need.

    great set of videos! - I noticed that on one of the screen, there is a message about a licence expiring in 60 days - will that be a problem ?

    • @NetworkEngineerPro
      @NetworkEngineerPro  3 года назад

      Hi Simon, the 60 day license is for some of the advanced features that I will never really use so its not a problem for me. They do offer a free license that can be applied to the server and works great for what I use it for. Thanks for watching I appreciate it !

    Enjoying these video's! Did you ever get ESXI 7 to successfully installed on this server?

      Thanks a lot glad you are enjoying them. No, so far 6.7 has been working pretty well for me now but in the future I probably will. Thanks for watching !

    Can you explain how to download VMware esxi for free. Video you said that you can download it for free. When I registered and try to download it was greyed out.

    Perfect , I have watched entire playlist in one go..
    Few Questions ;
    1. Do I need need plugin the bootable USB drive when ever I want to boot ESXi from usb thumb drive or its just one time process ?
    2. Does the license of ESXi based upon the no of CPU cores ? are you using free version or licensed version
    3. Can I just use the idrac console to login into the esxi and boot EVE-VM?

    • @NetworkEngineerPro
      @NetworkEngineerPro  3 года назад

      Hi Deepak, sorry for the delay and thanks for watching ! 1. If you want to boot from the usb every time you should leave it plugged in. It was a one time process for me because i loaded esxi onto my hard drives from that usb. 2. I am using the free version. I believe its limited to 2 physical CPU's. 8 vCPU max per vm. Here are some details on the free license limits. www.nakivo.com/blog/free-vmware-esxi-restrictions-limitations/ 3. I haven't tried it that way, you may need to hit it from a web browser. Thanks again for watching.

      Hey David, it has been running great. EVE-NG is my favorite and i have tested big 30-40 IOSv node topologies. This server can handle alot!

      I havent ran into this issue during my setup. But i found a similar issue online. Not sure if this is the same problem you’re encountering. Hope this helps.

    Rafael, what was your preferred labbing platform? EVE-NG, CML, ESXi?

  • @dalehopkinson7116
    @dalehopkinson7116 3 года назад +1

    Do you have any suggestions on hardware specs ? I'm going to setup a server environment at work with permanently available CML access but I really can't find a good way to figure out the hardware specs I would need for the server. My topologies could reach up to 40 nodes.

    • @NetworkEngineerPro
      @NetworkEngineerPro  3 года назад

      Hello Dale, if you want to use my specs from the Part 1 video as reference. 40 vIOS routers from CML use 10% of my 128GB of RAM and about 50% of the host CPU.

    Esxi has a limit of 60 days for trial, how can I counter it ?
    Unlimited free version is only for 2CPU system but I have a smaller tower which has 8 CPU

    • @NetworkEngineerPro
      @NetworkEngineerPro  3 года назад

      So your host has 8 physical CPU's ? I'm not sure a way around that unfortunately with the free one. Except for once the 60 days expire, re-install esxi again.
