@@oftankoftan definitely agree. But that is also much less stable than these! In terms of this stability of disc, the Pathfinder and Emac truth are probably the furthest flying ones!
I’ve thrown all 3. The buzzz for about 5 years, the hex almost a year and the pathfinder for the last 2 months. The buzzz, of which I’ve owned 4, have slightly more turn and fade as the hex. Both discs will tell you what you are doing wrong mechanically with your throw. I stopped bagging the buzzz after feeling the hex in my hand. It just felt better. I stopped bagging the hex after throwing the pathfinder because I wanted a straight mid without the turn and fade. I already bagged a glow reactor which has less turn and more fade as well as a fission reactor which has similar turn and slightly more fade than the buzzz. It is like an overstable buzzz but more comfortable in the hand. The pathfinder was the exact disc I was looking for. I haven’t noticed it having as much glide as the hex but because it doesn’t turn and fade as much it does seem to go farther than the buzzz.
Yeah I will have to try a Reactor! I personally like the Buzzz feel in the hand a bit better... but I can see why you would like the Hex better! definitely a slimmer feel in the hand!
I have a buzz I bought when they first introduced esp plastic. It's about twenty years old or so now. It's dead straight and doesn't fade left at all, but doesn't turn over hardly at all no matter how hard you throw it. I bag a hex as well, and it fades at the end, so I have a spot for both. Both outstanding.

Great review of these discs! I currently bag a Hex, Reactor, Emac Truth, and Buzzz. A huge point of interest for me when looking for a midrange is BH/FH versatility, and MVP/Axiom just nailed this! Unfortunately the Buzzz doesn’t forehand well in my experience; it is a backhand only disc for me, which may ultimately lead to its departure from my bag. I would say the Mind Bender is less stable than these! You can almost bag the Mind Bender as a compliment to the Hex or Buzzz! Those two are pretty stable while the Mind Bender has a little turn to it and is slightly understable!
I agree with this video. I found that my Mind Bender beat out my mako3 and 14 year old Z Buzz. I kept my hex and Buzz SS in my bag, but rarely go to my SS anymore and go to my Hex when I need a little fade on the end. I will need to get a Paul McBeth ESP buzz, but I think I will still prefer my Mind Bender.
I've never understood why people say buzzz is the straightest mid. I've never thrown a buzzz that wasn't stable (400ft max distance arm). I bag buzzz ss for dead straight or slight turnover. But I am curious to try a hex
I think people are talking about the flight itself and not the fade. You said yourself the disc was stable meaning it does not turn. But I agree with you. A truly straight disc will not have much fade if thrown correctly (all discs fade). A truly straight disc is rare.
Yeah it just depends what kind of straight you are talking about! if you are talking hyzer flip to fly straight and finish straight... Yeah, I currently use the Deity D4 Duo with the windscreen, but if wind is blowing directly across it, it doesn't do great! And I have lav mic's when I need them, but I am not a big fan of the hassle of wearing it, and I prefer the sound coming out of a mini shotgun mic over lavs, it just sounds more natural and not as much of an in your head type of sound if that makes sense! So i try and use the shotgun mic as much as possible, It makes it feel like you are there more than a lav mic does imo
The Buzzz is less touchy than the Hex and Pathfinder for sure. I have all 3 as well because everyone hyped up the Hex and Pathfinder to me and I went right back to my Buzzz because if my angle control is a little off it doesn't hold the anhyzer all the way to the ground. All great discs still, just maybe need more hyzer-flip on them.
Yeah, I mainly compared these because a lot of people talk about the Pathfinder and the Hex as a farther Buzzz or a better Buzzz, so I wanted to see how they stacked up! I wouldn't say the Mind Bender is a Buzzz competitor... I think they both serve slightly different purposes in the bag! You can almost bag both and have them compliment each other well! When there is definitely overlap with the Buzzz, Hex, and Pathfinder!
Are they like Innova and Millennium? Because Millennium and Innova are two completely separate companies! Innova just makes discs for them... When I think MVP and Axiom are the exact same company? just under different names to differentiate the discs a bit? Or are they two completely different companies as well?
I would have to throw them next to each other to know for sure, but I would say the Pathfinder is more stable! I don’t think the Mind Bender would have come back in the 18mph headwind I threw the pathfinder in, and the Pathfinder turned, but it did come back at the end!
@@ApolloDiscGolf the anniversary md1 seemed to have more fade while the pathfinder I have goes dead straight with a really slight fade. Heard great things about the mind bender but would want the mind bender to be less stable than the anniversary edition
@@skylorswope5183 I think the Mind Bender is a little less stable than the Anniversary edition! It definitely turns for me! I would say it turns more than the Pathfinder. I have only thrown the anniversary edition once though!
I throw a Hex every chance I get. I really like the max weight fission ones. The balance is way different from everything else I've got (except maybe a couple 170+ fission Insanity discs I've got). The disc just feels like it wants to leap out of my hand.
I’m assuming you have more power on most of your throws than I do and the pathfinder was still fading for on you. So I’m guessing that the pathfinder will fade quite a bit for me. Now a base plastic Svea will go straight or turn for me. A warship will usually fade a for me.
I haven't thrown a Svea before, and I have only thrown one Warship.. But that one was pretty flippy, but still gave me a little fade if I threw it correctly!
Nah, I would put the Mind Bender as more understable than these! Honestly the Mind Bender would compliment one of these really well without too much overlap! A Buzzz-Mind Bender combo would be lethal!
@@ApolloDiscGolf yeah it’s pretty Stable/understandable depending on how you release it. It mostly just goes straight; so I recently got the Nebula as my overstable counterpart, it does the same thing as the meteor but fades to the right or left depending on which hand I throw with. I ACED my nebula on my second throw, at the new oakridge course here in Oregon, so it made its way into my bag. I also bag a Drone/Malta.
I would say the Mind Bender is less stable than all of these. I would almost put that in another category. Like I would bag both the Buzzz and the Mind Bender... The Buzzz as a straight-stable mid and the Mind Bender as my straight-understable mid and there wouldn't be too much overlap imo... Because the Mind Bender wouldn't do great in the winds I was throwing in for this video. When the Buzzz was still money
Yeah I definitely need to make a video on those! I haven’t spend much time with those discs and that needs to change because they are definitely some of the best!
Yeah, I think the Warship is a more flippy than the Pathfinder... But the one I have is pretty flippy, its been a while since I have thrown a fresh one!
I’ve thrown buzzes and pathfinders. The pathfinder goes further. The only downside to that exact pathfinder in that plastic is that it beats in soooo fast. Mine is flippy now. Kinda sad but it’s also a great understable disc now 😂 just wish I could find a plastic with thoughtspace that doesn’t beat in quite as fast or flies more stable to begin with so it can beat in straight
Have you tried the Pathfinder in Aura plastic? My experience is Aura starts a touch more stable and beats into a really straight flight. The EO Pathfinders are considered the straightest out of the box, beating into a slightly understable disc.
I have heard that from their plastic! I haven't experienced it myself though, because I haven't thrown them for long enough! Is it the same with MVP/Axiom?
@@ApolloDiscGolf I know MVP will change their flight numbers based on what plastic the disc is in, though I think it's more pronounced with TSA because of the lack of over mold. The plastics seem to cool differently, which usually results in parting line height variations. PLH differences seem to always happen between different plastic types, and sometimes weights. One plastic isn't always the least stable. Some molds Ethos may be the flippiest, but in others Ethos is the most beefy. Within a mold plastics tend to stay consistent in stability. For example I have a lot of third run Mantras in each available plastic. Aura Mantras are always the most stable, then Ethereal, then Ethos. I know if I buy another third run Mantra in Ethos I can count on it being on the flippy side of that molds stability. I personally find this very useful, as it is extremely easy to bag multiples of a mold with dependable flight variations out of the box.
So Mako 3, right? Nah, I'm kidding. These are all probably great, but for now I'm going to run my Super Stingray into the ground, since I don't see myself finding a good replacement easily. Still, I love learning about other discs, and the Buzz is the industry standard.
Dang! I remember the Super Stingray! I remember it didn't take off very well, but there were definitely people who LOVED it! I think I remember Paul saying something about liking it before Innova created the roc3 for him and wanted him throwing that!
I replaced my buzzes with the hex I have about 5 of them and I would agree the buzz is a little more stable then a hex I never had the opportunity to throw a pathfinder so idk about that one
The first flight video showed all the discs Fading off to the left so that is not dead straight. Picky Be t dead straight flying Disks should have no more than a 3 Foot fade or turn landing spot.
@@ApolloDiscGolf I used mine at a heavily wooded course (Golden Hills in Christiansburg VA) for all my straight shots. Check them out here: www.wilddiscs.com/product/addax-lava-flare/ Also, feel free to use code GRAYWOLF22 if you are interested in any of the awesome Wild Discs merch.
I think they both have a spot on people's games! the Hex and Buzzz are definitely more stable and can handle more power and wind than the Mind Bender! they both serve slightly different purposes imo!
Really?? I have never really thought of the Buzzz as a shallow disc at all! What mids do you normally throw? I wouldn't put it in the category of deep mids like the Roc3, MD3 or a Mace, but I also wouldn't say it's shallow, because there are a lot of other discs shallower than the Buzzz!
@@ApolloDiscGolf I bag very few mids, atm a Fuse, a Justice for just utility, Harps (I guess they count as mids, at this point one of them surely does) and a Magma by Obsidian Discs. I like to throw putters a lot more (Pures mostly accompanied by Harps but DO THOSE COUNT NO-ONE KNOWS). I don't have big hands but somehow I prefer discs that are slightly deeper I guess. The Buzzz honestly feels really shallow for me. Oh and I don't powergrip putters at all and almost never my mids either
I have only hex. its so straight, no fade at all, its almost too straight. i do have buzz but that fade slightly for me, so i think i like the plastic and feel with hex more and makes me throw it dead straight.
That would definitely be a good one! I need to make that. I haven't spent too much time with the Emac truth! But my 1000 rated friend absolutely shreds with them!
Yeah, these were all max weight. I usually mention when they are different weights, but I mainly talk about how they fly for me compared to other discs, because when you say a Buzzz is more stable than a Pathfinder, that should be true regardless of skill or distance. But I will try and mention distance more!
Interesting! I haven't had that problem with the Buzzz. And I recently picked up an Emac Truth (don't know how I haven't really tried one till now...) But I feel like that was a ton faster and flew a bunch further than the Hex! Like I bet it would have outdone all of these mids in terms of distance
@@ApolloDiscGolfI can't decide if I should get another truth pathfinder or hex. My only empty slot in my bag. Pyro doesn't glide much and pretty stable. I'm leaning towards pathfinder. Is it torque resistant like the truth?
@@JoshJackson13 I haven't had a chance to compare the Pathfinder and the Truth yet... I just recently threw the truth for the first time, so I'm not sure!
That interesting. I thought the Hex was pretty close! I haven't tried a Reactor though. I will have to try those! I always thought they were suppose to be more overstable like a roc type stability... But again... I haven't actually had a chance to throw one!
@@ApolloDiscGolf I find Neutron Reactors and Z Buzzzes pretty similar-- no turn and a tiny fade at the end. Fission Reactors are even straighter, especially if you get them down around 170g. I haven't come across a Buzzz that flies like a Hex yet. Hex is like a Buzzz after some months of seasoning in.
@@ApolloDiscGolf used to throw a Hex and the Aura Pathfiner flies nothing like my Hex did. Going to test the Ethos whenever the snow goes away to see if I can't simplify the bag
I saw on your Instagram story the other day that you were looking for an Originals FD3 for a video. I have one of the Color Glow Dismaniac versions if you want to use it. Evidently, the metal flake ones from EO fly most similar to those
@@ApolloDiscGolf DGA is extremely underrated. Besides the Rift, the Pipeline is the best fairway I think I have ever thrown. Quake and Vortex are also great. You should do a video on these.
Why is distance in a mid even a topic? If you want more distance, take a fd then. In my opinion it's all abut the feel. In my hands the Buzzz feels terrible. I'm sorry. The best feeling disc in this segment is the Lat64 Claymore by far for me and I have tried a lot of them.
Yeah for sure! For the distance thing, I think people just want the furthest flying disc in each category for the same reason people want to throw further, when you can throw the slower discs and still get to your target you can keep a lot more control and accuracy! Like in the woods if you can throw a Buzzz 320ft then that sucker isn't fading much and going to stick where it lands and put you in the middle of the fairway, but a fairway driver will finish a little more, maybe skip and put you right off the fairway enough where you have to straddle out of something! So in that instance you want the further flying mid range over just throwing a fairway.
Since I film with my phone, the watch shows what the phone is filming. So I was checking that I was in the shot 😂 But yeah, without that context I can see how it could be interpreted that way! I will see if I can cut it out!
@@ApolloDiscGolf The only thing I do not like with MVP / Axiom overmold disks is that the outer mold seems to be in another weaker plastic no matter what plastic they say the disc is in. The outer rim takes so much punishment from enviroment compared to Innovas Champion plastic, Lattitudes Opto, Dynamic Discs Lucid plastic and many many more. My first Hex (premium plasic) after like first throw (ok, I hit rocks but I have done that many times with other plastics and they've been fine, unless really unlucky) got a big deep scar/cut. And same thing has happend to most of my MVP / Axiom disks (which I otherwise love). So I have started to become afraid to throw my beloved discs cause it seems like every throw will risk a lot of damage of the disc. Yes I play mostly wood courses. Lot of trees, roots, rocks. I wish they could work on that outer mold material. Back on topic though. That first throw with my first Hex (Have 1 more now, gonna buy more most likely, unless I go Berry from Clash instead, basicly same disc but can take more of a beating) was like wow that discs really flies perfectly and feels fantastic in my hand. I wouldn't say the Mind Bender is a Buzzz competitor... I think they both serve slightly different purposes in the bag! You can almost bag both and have them compliment each other well! When there is definitely overlap with the Buzzz, Hex, and Pathfinder!
@@ApolloDiscGolf I would agree 100%... Was curious on your take
@@jeffreyplord Yeah, the MD1 is great! But serves a slightly different purpose imo!
For my midrange, I want accuracy and dependability over distance. The new champion Jay has literally replaced the 3 buzzz’s that were in my bag.
Interesting! I will have to try one of those! I have heard good things!
Axiom is MVP with colorful rims and names that are not science related. Same company different brand, like Innova and Millennium.
Are they like Innova and Millennium? Because Millennium and Innova are two completely separate companies! Innova just makes discs for them... When I think MVP and Axiom are the exact same company? just under different names to differentiate the discs a bit? Or are they two completely different companies as well?
I'm all about the Hex. I never liked the feel of the Buzzz and loved and EMac Truth in that slot until the Hex came out.
Yeah, the Buzzz definitely has a deeper profile than the Truth and Hex. The EMac Truths are solid!
My buddy is all about thought space right now...he throws a Buzzz. I'll have to introduce him to the Pathfinder.
Yeah it's solid! not as stable, but still a great mid!
How does the Mind Bender compare to the Pathfinder?
It does feel like a very fast midrange!
Why didn't you incluse the Berry from clash discs
To be honest I have never heard much about the Berry till reading through these comments 😂
Used to bag 3 buzzz’s, switched to Hexes, they’re so money.
They are definitely solid mids!
Can you review the Pursuit?
Is esp plastic as durable as star and neutron?
I would put it similar to star. But I haven't thrown Neutron long enough to know how those beat in... Sorry!
@@ApolloDiscGolf
Thank you for the reply
@@ryansuter4424 For sure!
This must have been recorded before the Mind Bender was released.
Nah, I would put the Mind Bender as more understable than these! Honestly the Mind Bender would compliment one of these really well without too much overlap! A Buzzz-Mind Bender combo would be lethal!
I have that exact same Buzzz. The BUZZZ got kicked out of my bag for a Meteor and Nebula.
Wow! The Meteor is pretty understable I thought?
@@ApolloDiscGolf yeah it’s pretty Stable/understandable depending on how you release it. It mostly just goes straight; so I recently got the Nebula as my overstable counterpart, it does the same thing as the meteor but fades to the right or left depending on which hand I throw with. I ACED my nebula on my second throw, at the new oakridge course here in Oregon, so it made its way into my bag. I also bag a Drone/Malta.
@@DiscraftJunkies NICE! and the Drone is a beast!
I’d like to similar videos for emac truth, reactor, and other similar slightly stable mids
Yeah I will have to check those out too! I know the Emac truth is a solid option for a Buzzz like spot! I haven't tried a Reactor yet!
Mind bender 🥴
I would say the Mind Bender is less stable than all of these. I would almost put that in another category. Like I would bag both the Buzzz and the Mind Bender... The Buzzz as a straight-stable mid and the Mind Bender as my straight-understable mid and there wouldn't be too much overlap imo... Because the Mind Bender wouldn't do great in the winds I was throwing in for this video. When the Buzzz was still money
Emac Truth or Fuse. fantastic mid ranges!
Yeah I definitely need to make a video on those! I haven’t spend much time with those discs and that needs to change because they are definitely some of the best!
Farthest flying mid is the kaxe and the kaxe z!!! Try those out they knocked my buzz and buzz ss out of the bag
Interesting! I will have to try them out! The only Kastaplast I have tried was the berg!
It would be great if you compared the pathfinder to the warship
This guy either has a man on the inside or he just knows...
Either way it sounds legit to me
So Mako 3, right?
Yeah the Hex is solid! If you like shallow and flat mids, those and the Emac Truths are definitely the cream of the crop!
I’ve found the pathfinder to be my furthest flying midrange. I bag a pathfinder and MD3s. MD3s handle the wind better for me
Oh yeah, the MD3 and the Pathfinder would be a solid mid lineup!
The first flight video showed all the discs Fading off to the left so that is not dead straight. Picky
Be t dead straight flying
Disks should have no more than a 3
Foot fade or turn landing spot.
Apollo DG needs to throw the Wild Discs Addax Reborn!!! (5/5/0/1)
I haven't heard of that one before!

The new Mind Bender beats all of these in my opinion. I've been throwing a hex for a year now and like the Mind Bender better
I think they both have a spot on people's games! the Hex and Buzzz are definitely more stable and can handle more power and wind than the Mind Bender! they both serve slightly different purposes imo!
Don’t forget the reactor, mustang and trust and truth.
For me: the TRUTH
Yeah the Truth is another solid one!
uhh you're from kc? throwing at SMP?
Yep! SMP is my local course! But I try to get around to all the good ones around KC... There are so many great courses!
Mako 3 is the straightest arrow in my quiver.
How is Buzzz the deepest? Dayum that puts me off the rest of these discs, for me the Buzzz feels really darn shallow in the hand.
Yeah it's always nice to have that dead straight disc in your bag that won't fade too much! Especially in the woods!
Buzzz vs Emac Truth?? :D
That would definitely be a good one! I need to make that. I haven't spent too much time with the Emac truth! But my 1000 rated friend absolutely shreds with them!
Flight characteristics testing need to define disc weight and distance thrown
Agreed. We’re these max weight or what?
Yeah, these were all max weight. I usually mention when they are different weights, but I mainly talk about how they fly for me compared to other discs, because when you say a Buzzz is more stable than a Pathfinder, that should be true regardless of skill or distance. But I will try and mention distance more!
Buzz hangs up on my finger almost every throw but no other disc ever does. I use 182 gram meteors. I do want a hex. Liked the Truth till I lost it.
Pyro is my buzz for now.
I have heard good things about the Pyro!
I feel that a Reactor is definitely more comparable to a Buzzz.
I agree. Fission reactor replaced my flx buzzz.
@@TMRaven Yeah I definitely need to try out a Reactor!
Love my neutron reactors. Somehow they're straighter than my Hexes even though they're supposed to be more stable.
Aura (Bee) Pathfinders are pretty flat and pretty beefy. At least the ones I have.
Yeah? That would be awesome to pair with this Ethos one then! So probably close to this Buzzz? This Buzzz is a pretty beefy Buzzz
Evidently, the metal flake ones from EO fly most similar to those
That would be great! dm me on instagram and we can try and meet up!
Kaxe Z!
I haven't tried too much Kastaplast!
You forgot to mention the ACTUAL best straight midrange, the Rift.
I haven't tried much DGA! I need to though!
@@ApolloDiscGolf DGA is extremely underrated. Besides the Rift, the Pipeline is the best fairway I think I have ever thrown. Quake and Vortex are also great. You should do a video on these.
@@michaelmccourt4992 Yeah I need to get with Tyler Brickley here in KC and get some DGA!
@@ApolloDiscGolf oh man that would be sick! Tyler is the man.
The answer is Mako3.
The Mako3 is solid! Definitely in the same boat as the Mind Bender! A little less stable than these, but are definitely laser straight!
10 feet can be the difference between a 20 and 30 foot putt.
very true! that's a big difference!
MD1 ftw
I would say the MD1 is less stable than these! You can almost bag both the MD1 and the Buzzz!
Buzzz babyyyyy
It's so good!
Why check you watch at 1:00 and say we’re good? Haha are you late for a meeting and this video was just an afterthought haha
Since I film with my phone, the watch shows what the phone is filming. So I was checking that I was in the shot 😂
But yeah, without that context I can see how it could be interpreted that way! I will see if I can cut it out!
Nah man, the Berry is the thing
I will have to check it out! I just haven't heard much about it, but all yall are commenting about it, so I will have to give it a try! 😂
Pathfinder 4 lyf
It's definitely a solid mold! more workable than the others for sure!
Go Hex!!! =)
It's solid for sure!
Sorry for the essay, not expecting a reply.
Maybe someone else has same experience with the overmold plastics or think I might just be very very unlucky cause they have experienced something else?
Have a nice day anyone reading this! =)
@@1Dreamking Yeah I can definitely see how that durability would be an issue! I haven't ever had MVP or Axiom in the bag long enough to know! I need to try more of them though!
