      And you know what that means? I have another bike to work on!
      ¡Gracias!
      Hay momentos en los que desearía que el mío también fuera un biplaza, pero mi novia también quiere su propia bicicleta ...
      ¿Y sabes lo que eso significa? ¡Tengo otra motocicleta en la que trabajar! 😜

    This is amazing! I am currently working on my 86 Magna, and doing similar modifications. Is the front fender stock? If so, did you paint it yourself? Mine is Chrome, but it would look better black. Just wondering what you did to yours.

    • @Ivon1oh1
      @Ivon1oh1  2 года назад +2

      Thanks!
      Yes, it’s stock. I gave it light sanding and painted it. Where the bike is more of a rat rod I don’t mind the chipped paint on the front fender,(difficult to paint chrome) I’ve been told a light acid wash will make the surface right enough to give a more permanent painted finish.

      I have an 83 V65 that had the factory chrome fender on it. It was a bit rusty so I sent it to a guy that powder coated it gloss black. It looks almost like new and the powder coat is holding up. Pretty sure he blasted it before coating, there are no chips or disbonding anywhere

    remember the magna will NOT lubricate the camshafts under 1500 rpm . my advise never let it stand on the sidestand idling because the right side wont get any oil at all . start and drive at once so you get the oil pressure up. until 1985 the engine came with 4mm oil tubes for the cam and after 1985 6 mm but that never fixed the problem

    • @Ivon1oh1
      @Ivon1oh1  3 года назад

      Where I’ve lowered it, it almost falls over on the side stand because it stands so straight up...
      It does still have a bit of a lean to is so thanks for the advice!
      I’ve often thought about putting the oil filter/pipe mod on that pushes the oil in a more efficient way.(would this help the problem?)

    How hard was bobbering it? I should be buying an 82 soon and think it would look awesome as a bobber but idk if due to it being shaft driven if it would cause undue complications

    • @Ivon1oh1
      @Ivon1oh1  3 года назад

      The most difficult part of bobbing the bike is figuring out where to put the wiring.. where I built the custom fender and seat I was able to house the wiring in the same basic area as stock..
      To bob the rear I basically used a grinder with a metal cut-off disc, I removed it just behind the shock mount on the frame so it would keep the strength of the joint in the frame. The shaft drive wasn’t a problem, it’s basically a part of the rear swing-arm. With the short shocks(about a 2.5 inch drop) the angle of the shaft isn’t anything it can’t handle.

      The headers I built myself(taught myself how to weld on this bike), the mufflers are actually stock off a Harley Sportster(with all baffles intact). I tried some open RUSH slip ons that were open pipes but the bike didn’t run or start as well, the V45 really likes the back pressure.
      And “side box”? You mean the breather? I used the airbox off the Honda Saber.

      Originally I had stock pipes off a Harley Davidson, but have recently replaced them with 2 3/4” slip ons by RUSH. I built the custom headers and pipes because the originals(including the collector)were beyond repair and I wanted a louder, deeper sound than stock.
