    What do you think of Airfix's announcement? Is this kit something you'll be looking at getting? Let me know in the comments below....

      I don’t care about recessed or raised rivets in this scale. I agree with you on the dedicated amount of work by the design team on this kit and it’s a beautiful model. I’ve preordered two sets; I’m not really that much into choppers but I’ve flown in a version of the Sea King and this kit is impressive. I’ll be building Scheme A and C. 👍🏻👍🏻

    What a wonderful kit in the king of scales! So happy with this.
    I’d like to understand why people don’t like helicopter kits? I love them. They seem so dynamic and posable, especially naval heli’s with folding rotors and tails like this one.

    • @MannsModelMoments
      @MannsModelMoments  Год назад +2

      I think for me it was always a combination of the allure of the fixed wing combined with the difficulty/fragility of storing helicopters - so many bits to break off!

      @danwilliams1686 Год назад

      Personally, I love helocopter model kits, but I would say they don't like me! So many tiny parts to break off , transparencies that can be ruined etc, so they can be intimidating and I've been building for over 50 years.

    Thank you for this review, it looks like a great kit with lovely detail👍🏻. I love the option to have the rotors and tail folded, because it's often a problem to display an helicopter at that scale, they don't fit on book shelves (I had a hard time to find a spot for my Mil MI 24 (1/48) that is about the same size). I would love to build this kit, I really like the coast guard version, but first, I have to sort out my collection as it starts to become pathological 😊. Good continuation👋🏻

Every brand have good and not so good kits, believe it or not, I had great models from Italeri for example, that many modelers spit on from what they heard, without really knowing.

      I agree with you, usually the diameter of the rotors makes it difficult to display, but the great thing, to me, about this kit is that we have the option to fold the rotors and the tail, also it looks like it doesn't need any aftermarket addition.

    A very nice kit. But yet again, Airfix make us wait for an RAF version. I don't want to do a Navy version. No doubt I will now have to wait over a year for a RAF version. Plus I would have preferred it in 1/35 scale. I have a Kitty Hawk Ocean Hawk kit in 1/35 and I have the Meng Apache on pre-order. So, I would prefer a 1/35 scale one.

    • @cmbsgc
      @cmbsgc Год назад +4

      Exactly. This is so infuriating! Why didn't Airfix make a 1/35 RAF version instead? And why didn't they make it out of chocolate? Chocolate is so much easier to work with, and tastes so much better. I have several Mars Bars on order, and a 1/35 chocolate RAF Sea King would be such a better match. Selfish Airfix bastards!

      @@MannsModelMoments 16:56 On the left side there are two closed windows. On the finished model, they look as if they were patched up from the inside with some kind of piece. After all, on a real helicopter, these were whole panels. All this needs to be puttied, rubbed and applied rivet rows.
      Here's what I didn't like

    • @MannsModelMoments
      @MannsModelMoments  Год назад +1

      @@siberianmodeller No, they weren't whole panels on the real thing. We got to look around the Sea Kings on site, and these airframes were modified over time and patched up with riveted panels all over. Especially in this case, where it is a siingle aircraft modified over time (and many were, don't forget), this WAS "patched up" on the real thing. I think many modellers assume these things are a lot "neater" than they really are, which is why research is so important - Airfix have put 2 years of research into this kit, and believe me, this is correct

    I'd definitely give this a go. I'd also like Airfix to do some more box art books, in the manner of the Roy Cross books. I think some of their art since his days is amazing.
