Wow. It looks like a Kazakh dombra but with a slight twang like a sitar. I live in Kazakhstan and the similarities with Kazakh culture is very apparent. My wife is Kazakh and we had a layover in Ürümqi on our way from Almaty, Kazakhstan to Thailand for vacation. Actually we were stranded due to flight cancellations and delays so we made the most of it and explored a bit. She could actually speak Kazakh with local Uyghurs and they understood her and she understood them! She said she could understand about 70% of what the Uyghur man said- enough to get directions to the nearest Lagman restaurant!
I never knew Kazakh could understand Uyghur. I mean I do know they are in the same turkic language family. For me as a Turk is still pretty hard to understand Uyghur people. While I do fully understand for example Turkmen people. But offcourse there are a lot of similar Uyghur words in the Turkish language. Which again is normal because both are Turkic.
This is not kazakh dombra, this is uighur national instrument " dutar"
@@sinanthedragon1577 non turk rooted people hardly undestand we uyghur people speciallt in turkey there are millions non turkish turkish citizens they claimed themselves turk but they are not like you bro

This is something I didn't get to enjoy during my trip. Thank you for sharing this beautiful performance! Now I want to go back to XJ!!
My pleasure! I hope you're able to come back ;)
As far as I know "We-gur" is how the Mandarin speakers mispronounce Uy-ghur. Every Turkic or Mongolian person refers to them as Uy-ghur.
Mandarin speakers don't say "Wee-gur", they say "way-wu-are-you" - it's the Chinese transliteration. English speakers generally say "Wee-gur" because we don't really have the "Uy" sound in our language.
There is no mispronounciation when one group of people wants to create a word for an "exotic" word using their own language, to make sure this word can be easily accepted and spreaded among themselves meanwhile respecting the authentic pronounciation.
This sounds really beautiful. The turpan looks related to the Dombra (played in kazakhstan, uzbekistan etc). I really want to visit Xinjiang, but need to refresh my mandarin more first. Xinjiang seems very mysterious and representative of china's diversity.
+MrQuagmire26 I hope you get a chance to travel here soon! Thanks for the comment.
kazakh dombora is not dutar, very different, dombora similar with mongol Tovshuur
loved the cut away shots of the different scenes! It really felt like I was culturally immersed! These videos are great and are absolutely interesting, as you show us the culture. Look forward to seeing more. This channel definitely deserves more subscribers.
+charissa stain Thank you, Charissa! I'm so glad you're enjoying them and I appreciate the comment :)
His voice and dutar playing are very good. I don't know the language, but it's really touched my Heart. :)
+Angry Bird I'm glad to hear that. I'll let him know ;)
The language is Uyghur, which is related to Turkish.
It's more related to Uzbek language actually.
+jo ki Actually, jo ki, both Uzbek and Uyghur, as well as Kazakh, Kyrgyz, and a LOT of other languages, are all in the Turkic family of languages. Check out en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkic_languages.

Great Video and thanks for uploading. Ana Nurhan (Mother Nurhan (Female Name) makes more sense.
Does anyone know where to get strings for a Dutar? I have one and one of the strings broke. Thanks! 🙏
ассаламу алейкум есть текст песни ?)
What's the tuning? There's a drone string and a melody string? Just change the tuning for a different key?
What's the name of the singer?
LONG LİVE TURKİC FAMİLY
Uyghur looks almost the same as Hazara and Uzbek
lovely sound, but i have to say he is still far from a master level in xinjiang, go kashgar, and try to hang out with those old dudes
I'm sure there's always "better" :)
