I’m 61 years old. My daughter bought a wakeboard boat . I’ve only water skied 30 years ago with two skis once. After 3 tries I got up. I got pretty relaxed and almost cocky. Never had so much fun. She and I were the only ones who wanted to do it so I got to ride all afternoon. I’m so addicted to it. Can’t wait to go again. I wasn’t quite good enough to let go of the rope but I got it slack many times. This video will help me big time! Well done video, thank you so much! Boomer pride! lol 😂
Wow, this is such a great instructional video! The guy obviously makes it look easier than it is for most beginners but the instructions are very helpful and easy to understand- Thank you for this!!
Boat speed will vary depending on the amount of weight you have in the boat. Start at the slowest speed possible that still gives you a clean wake without whitewash. As you go faster the wake will get longer, but you'll lose some push, so you may have to slow it down. Typically that means between 10-12MPH for most boat/weight configurations.
anywhere from 9.5 to 11 mph, depending on the boat, weight setup, etc. I go 10.5. Weight your boat out, start at 9.5, and go up in increments to see which speed works best. But adjust slowly. Let the boat run at one speed for a minute or two, travelling as straight as possible, and take note of the wake characteristics. Ride behind it at each speed increment you use to test, and see what gives you the best push. Once you get the speed and weight dialed in, take note of it and you're all set!
Love watching these videos to improve, I consider myself a pretty good wake surfer as I progressed through last summer and this summer. Does ones weight play a big part of getting air? And what board would y'all recommend for a guy like me. I'm 6'1" and 210 pounds. Thanks!!
How do you get a beginner to stay outside the wake when getting up? Mine keep getting stuck on the top of the wake unless I start them on the outside (which is a PITA to get just right)
Really good video, all he forgot was actually getting up, heels on the board, push down on the board with ur heels and bring them down to your butt with your knees to your chest, then let the boat pull you and stay in a down crouched position then slowly get up as the driver ups the speed
Thanks Ricky! We like the Liquid Force Fish and the Ronix Koal Longboard. Both are great for beginners because they are stable and buoyant. www.wakemakers.com/2015-liquid-force-fish-wakesurf-w-surf-rope.html www.wakemakers.com/ronix-koal-longboard-wakesurf-board.html
+mike powers It does not have a ton of cross over unless you are doing tow ins. I think it does give you a little more practice learning airs and board control.

Absolutely not, in fact we usually hook the rope to the pylon so it's not swinging back-and-forth over rear seat passengers. A tower will make it a little easier to get up out of the water for someone that is just learning, but you can absolutely do without one.
There is no one speed that will universally work for everyone. We recommend between 10-12.5 mph. The correct speed will depend on the boat, amount of ballast, etc. Try different speeds and see what works best on your boat.

I filmed a wake surfing stunt on my GoPro- Check it out to see if I "crashed" my boat! First video ever- I'd appreciate some support for future insane stunts!
I rather paddle for waves in the ocean without being towed behind a watercraft with a tow rope and Lake water going up my nose because I can’t get up lol

Thanks for the instructions guys, amazing content. We got a wakeboard yesterday and I can’t wait to get in the water.
Awesome video , everything you need to know and learn is in this video , watched this and studied it and went out and killed it my first run
These videos are fire and gold, if you hit the sweet spot
Good stuff.. I just bought a brand new boat and never wakesurfed before lol so this is gonna be fun
Got on a wake boat with my drone last weekend. This stuff I'd awesome!
Good stuff! I've noticed it helps to have only a few people wanting to ride. Longer rides for more practice.
thanks a lot, best instructional video ever seen!!!
Awesome video, very thorough
Great instructional video! Can't wait to try out some of these tips.

Can I use any bored for wake surfing l? or do I need a specific bored
does this have any cross training effect for traditional ocean surfing?
+mike powers It does not have a ton of cross over unless you are doing tow ins. I think it does give you a little more practice learning airs and board control.
how fast should the boat be going
what is the name of the board in the beginning of the vid?
What about a frontside 360?
anyone know if wakesurf 180s and 360s can be done while still holding the rope?
It is possible. You will have to do a handle pass behind your back as you rotate the spin though.
Good video
Could I also surf with a boat that is pretty much designed for Wakeboarding?
yes
the 360 really is that hard!
👀🚷🖨🦅🦆🚯
Na really?
Fantastic Video! Thanks for posting this, excited to try it out for myself this Summer! :D
No problem, if you need any help with your setup or gear, let us know!
That’s awesome
how would i do that ?

I am William I am nine and I am a good Wakeboarder but surfing looks fun and we have cwb surfboard so if you would put another video it would be great
whats the perfect speed to have on the boat?
There is no one speed that will universally work for everyone. We recommend between 10-12.5 mph. The correct speed will depend on the boat, amount of ballast, etc. Try different speeds and see what works best on your boat.

What do you lay in the water, eggs? :P
Thats one horribel board and wake
is there special boats to wake surf?
Just the regular pull boats with tower
You have to get a V drive in order to safely surf outboards are very dangerous to attempt to surf behind
A boat cannot be an outdrive and should have a bailis
Jet boats designed for wake and surf are great too like the Yamaha X boats.
