    I really enjoy watching these less traditional breeds. They are what they are but fun nonetheless. He’s more dog than 95% of people will ever need.

    Growing up we had a Doberman. She looks different😳 Had a big head and body. Like the ones in the movie The Doberman Gang. How did they make the head pointy and thin? Just not the same look at all. It’s like they demasculated the breed.

    Shield K9 Dog Training,
    Very impressive dog! Thanks for sharing!
    I have two questions though:
    1) Given that you imported him from Serbia, how does he cope with cold weather?
    2) The Dogo Argentino of a hobby breeder on RUclips who lived his first months of life in Russia has developed an undercoat in some regions of his body. Is this true for your Doberman too?
    Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to answer my questions.

    Are there any advantages a Doberman has over a German Shepherd, as far as it’s protection abilities?

    • @primalcritters
      @primalcritters 2 месяца назад +2

      Not really. Honestly, it's hard to find a Doberman with good nerves. Good Dobermans are few and far between and there are a plethora of solid working line German Shepherds or Malinois

    • @primalcritters
      @primalcritters 2 месяца назад +1

      Think about it, there's a reason they're not really utilized as much. If you actually go to a trainer that sells personal protection dogs, nine times out of 10 they'll sell you a German shepherd, a malinois, or a cross of both

    • @drklop
      @drklop 2 месяца назад +2

      @@primalcrittersPerhaps the Germans and Malinois are just financially more advantageous, for an organization that sells trained dog, (and as you said they are just easier to find). What I’m wondering is if you were to find a quality Doberman puppy (as hard as it may be) and train it for yourself, would that Doberman have any advantages when compared to equivalently trained German Shepherd?

    • @primalcritters
      @primalcritters 2 месяца назад

      @@drklop that's a very good question. I would say it honestly depends on the dog and I don't think there's much difference. You can find German Shepherds that are up to 100. Dobermans could be a little bit larger let's say 110 lb, although I have seen GSDs that size. So maybe a larger dog but honestly any dog that has the nerve to take down a man will be equivalent, and at that point size really doesn't matter. Even Malinois that are only 70 lb are extremely capable.

      I would say if it’s just for yourself and personal protection, it’s a matter of preference. I went with the Doberman and yes they do take a little longer, but once mine took to the training he started to get it pretty fast. The first time someone put on a bite sleeve he just looked at them like ok. But the next time when that person came to MY house, my Doberman went nuts. And even though he didn’t bite the sleeve, he did enough that would scare most people away lol. Each session he did better. Now do I think the police want to spend that extra time and money on training a bunch of Doberman that will get way too attached to its partner? Easier to go with a fast crazy malinois lol. But me personally, I will put in the extra time and money because I love the Doberman breed, he is an awesome family dog and that was my first priority.

    Gorgeous dog, would love him, but can’t justify a $40,000 “family protector”
    Maybe for a trained killer for police work or competition, but not for a family dog
