I live in Australia and have a folding bike with 20” fat tyres. I have had it for two years and it lives in the back of my car. I don’t use it for commuting. That means any time I’m at a nice location I pull out my bike and go for a ride. With a rigid bike, unless you put a bike rack on the back of your car, you tend to ride the same areas. Mine goes everywhere with me and gets plenty of use.
i just bought a folding bike...my reason...i live in the netherlands and you don t have to pay for a folding bike in the train...so i want to take it to the south of my country and do tours from there to germany or Belgium
I think bicycles will always be with us in one form or another. I am glad for this because I have always had good memories with the bikes I have owned throughout my life. I now have a folding e-bike in my old age and I really enjoy it so much!😊
lets face it, the only reason to get a folding ebike is to take it with you everywhere, especially in NYC, where it's guaranteed to be stolen if left outside. there is no chain or ulock that a cordless grinder cant cut through in a matter of seconds.
Usually folding bikes are too hard to find in this price range but lucky you, you've made the perfect deal out of it. Hope you are enjoying the product as much as you expected.
I can fit 2 folding Ebikes in a Lexus GS350 sedan and take them to the beach. Definitely worth it. Just got a 1000w version because the 500w one I had got stolen. I think you get better quality and range with the non folding types, but I needed a folding ebike.
Being able to fit two folding eBikes in your sedan must make beach trips a lot more convenient. Sorry to hear about the stolen bike, but a 1000w upgrade definitely sounds like a solid choice. I agree that non-folding types often offer better range, but the portability of a folding eBike really comes in handy for certain situations. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Should have added Green Lake into it also. Plus a suggestion of the road from the Aqua Theater up to Woodland Park, it's fairly steep. Or a real test by going directly to the other side of the park toward Ballard and try that a hill that is nearly straight up in the air and a long way up and down.
Folding e bikes are a niche product. They are relatively low volume sellers. I would venture to say that the company I bought my folding e bike from sells less than 1% of their models as foldables. If you do not NEED a folding e bike, then opt for a standard framed bike. I am somewhat happy with my purchase, and I NEEDED it to be a folding bike. But if I did not need one, I would have opted for a standard bicycle.
I needed one because I live in a 1-bedroom rental apartment, where space is limited, and a regular-sized bike would be a problem especially getting into the small elevators (whether alone or with other people in them).
I purchased a folding e-bike to give me the option of taking the train but because my bike has the narrow tyres ( as against 4 “ I find ai do not need to fold the bike when taking the train ,if you need to travel in commuting periods the folding has to be employed.
"Prise en main du vélo Bastille : un pliant aux grandes roues" under you tube ; even if you don't speak french you will see how that folding bike is smarter
Sorry, but this video lists concerns that really cannot be measured very well, or information about them isn’t available. It misses so many considerations that are just as important if not more so. Such as, cost of battery replacement and other maintenance costs, ease of troubleshooting, clear and concise instructions in the owners manual, security features, operation costs such as annual fees for support apps, availability of good customer service (which means, NO artificial intelligence or automated phone menus that are circular dead-ends with no way to reach a live person that speaks understandable English), availability of parts, etc.
this is the case for any ebike, not just folding. many of these cons are not a real issue for me, but if you really hate ebikes then get a non electric one

Thabks for sharing your oponion
Right because nobody lives in a place that's too small for a full size bike 🧐
@@justhearmeout3959 I know right? It's perfect for apartment dwellers; also they don't have to struggle to take it into elevators.
Facts
I love my folding ebike, for the price I paid and all the accessories etc I got for 618 dollars and how big it is I can't complain 😊
