Cris, when having to remove small headed nails, such as pin, brad, and finish nails, I use a inexpensive pop rivet tool. They usually come with several sized heads. Find the one closet to the size of the nail you want to remove, slide it over the protruding nail and squeeze the tool. It pulls the nail the rest of the way through the wood. This is really good if the nail hole has already been filled and the project has a finish on it. I use this method when reusing interior molding in a renovation. There is no chance of "tear out" on the finished side. And, I love this project, such a great use of the space.
Now that's a pro tip worth spreading! Working in antiques, I developed a bunch of weird techniques over the years to save the fronts when de-nailing, but never came to use a riveting-tool to date ....
@@manfredschmalbach9023 Thank you. One other thing I do if working with particularly soft or old fragile moldings, is to use a large washer with a small hole. Place it over the nail, and then use the rivet tool. This spreads the pressure over a larger area and reduces the chance of splitting.
@@larrysherman5254 Yes, I have different sets of japanese nailpullers, modified with rounded edges to make sure it doesn't leave marks from levering, and - so long enough of a nail-rest pokes out - do carry differently shaped stainless tin plates with small holes in those to lay over the nail, enabling me pulling with normal nippers .... but that rivet gun trick I gotta try next time, with and without washer. Cheers!
Good to see you back, hope your staying safe and have been healthy. Thank you for wearing a mask while cutting wood, one of my jobs In life was a safety officer, wood dust is one of the biggest problem that is so understated.
This is gorgeous. The attention to detail is so brilliant in this! Even the wireless charger is built in such a ways that, if the technology becomes obsolete in the future, it's invisible anyway so it doesn't matter! Brilliant, just brilliant.
It may be just after midnight, but I see Get Hands Dirty in my notifications, I watch! I love how you've made such amazing use of such a small apartment, despite the way it seems so far out of square that it's basically a circle.
I binged a ton of your videos after your shop storage cabinet. Love all your projects and methods. Definitely gave me some ideas for my garage builds. I really want to know which jerks are giving the thumbs down.....
Great solution with the angled cabinet front next to the windows. It maintains the aesthetic while making everything fit and adds an interesting feature to the design. Have to admit, making the "fake" plywood have me a good chuckle, as did the clamping dance on the glue-up. 😂 Yet anther creative solution! Finished product overall looks great! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sending out your newsletter. For most of the last six months I'd thought that all of my favorite content creators had simply stopped making videos because RUclips stopped sending the notifications. RUclips says that most subscribers were deleting the emails without opening them...well DUH! there was no reason to READ the emails, the subject line contained all the information necessary. Added bonus that YOUR newsletter is well worth reading.
It's really amazing how much furniture you can fit in such a small space without it looking crowded and cramped. Also, the combination of the light plywood with the partial white paint and the glass doors probably helps everything look so fresh and light. The fact that the cabinet doors don't have handles is a good idea, because with so many doors it would look extremely strange if there were handles everywhere. 😂 Overall, a really very successful piece of built-in furniture. Great job - well done! 👍
Great Job. Nice save on layering the thin plywood and plywood edge banding on the door front. The hinges attached to the glass doors turned out so clean looking. The square(ish) cabinet to match up with the window sill is a lovely touch.
I love that you are keeping with the minimalistic look. It keeps a nice flow of color and light in the small space. Bravo on making the design work for you ❣️😍🥰
Those glass doors look amazing! I've been working with UV glue on watches myself and it's just amazing. Even cooler seeing it being used here. Amazing work as always.
Long time since you made one of your small apartment upgrades, always great to see your work style. You are a bit of a genius, taking thick plywood with thin & fake plywood edge banding, gluing panels & compressing together with socks & feet !!
I've always understood that ultraviolet light was blocked by glass. Could it be that just a subset of frequencies of UVA, UVB or UVC can pass through glass, and that's what the glue reacts to? So it all needs a specific type of UV flashlight to work.
Very nice 👌👍👏 I did sort of the same recently but with IKEA wall cabinets (from kitchen department) around fold down bed. It was a real pain to install and anchored to the wall as wall wasn't flat. I also made it more unique with my own door handles and bedside nook with decorative lamp and switch. 😊
This looks amazing! Thank you for showing how you had to adjust your design and rework some pieces, that's so important to see that nobody gets it perfect the first time. Also, thank you for wearing your respirator while sawing, it's sad to see so many makers who don't protect their lungs when doing woodworking.
Good job !
I wish I had your amazing skills. The quality finish & space efficiency you have achieved is fantastic One small question. Did you consider using toughened glass for the doors? A panel of glass can be heat treated so it won't crack easily, even if you accidentally hit it, but only shatter into tiny particles that are much safer. Very much like a car window. Shelves in a fridge are made this way.
I am inspired as usual by your array of skills and knowledge that means you can be so thorough in what you're making. Cool to see you testing and altering too.
Super! Chris, thank you so much for these videos! It's a huge job and I enjoyed watching it a lot. I will look forward to your next video !!! Thanks a lot!!!
I reali like your stile a in woodworking, in design fornitures and making video too! The glue used tu stuck hinges to the glass are the same used to bond the smartphone glass on their lcd panel, very interesting to see this technique in DYI forniture, neve seen on RUclips. Thanks for sharing your work! I reali wish you all the best!
I have been building furniture and teaching furniture building for 26 years. That’s the first time I’ve seen a plywood veneer edge band! Nice work! 👍🏻
Ahahah 😂 thanks Sam!
Haha, I thought I was drunk when I read this, but I hadn’t gotten to that point in the video yet. 👍🏻
That edge banding made from plywood was next level. Great job!
Thank you very much!
Looked really good but why is it necessary if the cut edge looks the same anyway?
@@JWB671 She had glued 2 pieces together to save on material so the edging didn't match the rest.
This looks fantastic. While the walls were not square, you have managed to give that area so much personality in a minimalistic look. Amazing.
Thank you! 😊

I love your attention to detail! Like the plywood edge banding or all the little things about the hinges.

I love this apartment! Whoever gets to live there is so lucky. You are a master maker.

Essa dobradiça colada no vidro é algo que eu nunca tinha visto. Ficou espetacular! A construção toda ficou excelente mas a porta de vidro é a melhor

My jaw dropped when I realized you were using that whisker-thin strip of plywood as edge banding 😅
Magnificent, young lady!! Very well done. It all looks so beautiful.
The edge banding and the glass doors are top notch. SWEET work!
Watching from The Philippines, I really enjoy your channel, informative and weirdly relaxing.
The edge banding to make it look like plywood is something I haven't seen before.
Really enjoyed the project, I’d never seen those hinges that you used on the glass really clever. The whole project looks great, thanks for sharing 👍
