Advocate Harrison Kinyanjui has passionately delved into our governance structure, shedding light on its flaws. I found myself listening intently to the conversation twice: first, to absorb the guest's arguments, and secondly, with pen and paper to capture the insights and analogies provided by Kinyanjui. It's evident that there are serious implications to the commitments made in the documents signed by our president, with citizens often left in the dark about their contents. Despite this, we're compelled to bear the burden of paying hefty and continuously accruing interest rates stemming from these agreements. It feels as though our country's assets are being sold off, echoing the mistakes made by King Lobengula when he was deceived by British companies. I'd love to see Harrison Kinyanjui invited back for further discussions. Although I enjoyed the show, I couldn't help but notice that the conversation seemed to be dominated by the male participants.

Well elucidated. Its clear our problem is the executive facilitated by the lawmakers who in turn are a product of the PEOPLE.
The PEOPLE can never elevate Harrison, Wanjigi and similar "wajuaji", to the table.
The system does not like persons who read treaties, agreements, bills, laws etc and ask questions.

    Is it burgundy or maroon?
Burgundy and maroon are sometimes mistaken for the same color but there's a key difference between them. Maroon is a mix of red and brown, while burgundy is a mix of red and purple. This makes burgundy slightly brighter in appearance than maroon and gives it more of a purplish tinge.

It's obvious that Ruto beats Lobengula of old hands down on matters; shortchanging his people. At least the ancient King only signed off Gold which his people had no practicle use for. Ruto however, has signed off our food (which he started with opening our doors to GM commodities now he's pushing for an early famine with these, God knows what for, jabs for all domestic animals), has probably also already signed off our health care, our education, he signed off long time ago when he gave over the management of UON to his globalist friends and from the way he espouses his new friends' manufactured climate change rhetoric, he has already very well signed off our weather. We're going down a very slippery slope. God help us.

Preliminaries first, lawyer Harrison kinyanjui as in his public engagements came out as a Christian fundamentalist or something near to that.but on this one I'm with him.hes also very telegenic(like Silvio balusconi) and I feel a court room is too small for the bull of mind he has.we need a better governor for kiambu n I m the first to endorse him for this.however about the debate at hand, sovereignty for africans only found home in somalia where citizens had a direct say at what happens at the center since with everyone carrying the instruments of enforcing (the kalashnikov)the said sovereignty 'kila mtu ni serikali'.thats the same thing in the USA where the national guard is the real armed force of the nation.i believe any external borrowing should be subject to referendum and the national debt ledger must be put online with the exception our security budget.parliament should never own our national sovereignty.so can someone move to court n declare all these agreements unconstitutional!

G42 and Microsoft aren't countries therefore their investment of a $1 Billion dollar data center isn't subject to the laws that bind treaties between countries. In fact, G42 which is partly owned by Microsoft had already inked the deal 2 months ago in Kenya. The Usahihi Express Way, Nairobi-Mombasa set to the longest Express Way in Africa is a toll road that will not incur costs to the Kenyan taxpayer. Anyone using the road after construction will have to pay. There were no concessional loans given to Kenya by America during Ruto's visit. It was all investments by American investors, no government treaties were signed between Kenya and America.
Only China has those massive secretive deals and treaties with Kenya, of which we still have no idea what was agreed on when constructing the SGR that is costing Kenyans hundreds of millions of dollars in Interest payments yet no one uses the SGR.

@@Frankly747 everything I’ve said is factual.
America doesn’t demand details about their deals to be kept secret like China does because any deals between countries have to pass through US congress. For instance, Kenya being granted the major non-NATO ally status, is a process that takes 30 days in US congress and could be denied. China however has no parliament or congress. The Chinese Communist Party has given Xi Jin Ping full authority to enact his vision and therefore foreign policy moves like the Belt and Road initiative do not face any scrutiny or assessment on impact to the country receiving the loan. That’s why they gave Kenya over $4 Billion in loans without caring how it would be payed back.

Harrison doesn't understand the meaning of a "Republic". Citizens have elected representatives to act/vote/negotiate on behalf of their interest.
Therefore, these elected representatives don't require citizens consent prior to negotiations because it was granted when the citizen elected the government representative..

Harrison did NOT craft or invent the Treaty Making and Ratification Act. It's a law passed by Parliament in 2012. It still remains the law. What Harrison is speaking of and to, is the IMPUNITY of those so-called leaders.
Harrison cannot be faulted (he should in fact be apllauded) for pointing out the LAW governing the international commitments Kenya makes with other States. I think no one is entitled to make ad hominem arguments when the Stark reality of the pit we are being thrown into by a reckless President is brought to light.

To allege that the Kenyan "representatives" do "not require" the Citizens' approval while negotiating the CONTENTS of the FINAL documents between Kenya and any other State is not only superfluous, but also makes total nonsense of the Treaty Making and Ratification Act.
It's the law applicable to these inter State formal engagements whether we like it or not.
These bureaucrats (very likely represented by some shrill voices here) have suddenly realized after this eye opening presentation that they actually do NOT possess the open cheque laissez faire carte blanche to sign off Kenya into anything and everything they want and pocket the change (if any) and crumbs along the way.
To suggest that these bureaucrats are NOT accountable to the Kenya people is to make nonsense of the Principle of Accountability in Article 10(2) of the Kenya Constitution.
Are they exempt from the said binding Principle? Of course not.
In reality, these are economic mercenaries who have no ounce of patriotism to Kenya resident in their beings.
They are out to SELL KENYA for a pittance. They have been called out.

If I heard Harrison right, he was extrapolating the definition of what comprises a Treaty in the Treaty Making and Ratification Act. Right off the text. No embellishments.
So I take it that whatever tangent we take on, or angle we give to the documents the Kenyan President is nearly on a daily basis signing out there (allegedly on behalf of Kenya), my appreciation of what was said was that ALL these documents' contents should be scrutinized by the National Assembly. For our benefit.
Isn't that transparency embodied? And what could be wrong with that really?

You are naive and foolish. Did you hear in any of the his statement saying that parliament has failed the people coz they listen do as the executive says?
Simple things to understand but you want to seem unlearned or not exposed.
When someone represents you,he has to listen to you. That's where public participation comes in. But do they do it?
Do people even see the parliamentarian in the 5 years he/she is in office other than during funerals?

The president is the representertive of the people of Kenya and MP is the representertive of the people of his/her constituency.
the drafters of the Constitution took that to account and I dont see what exactly this guy finds the person of president at fault?
