  • Arizona for many years has been the fastest growing state in America. Phoenix in particular has lead the nation in population rise for several decades. But has the appeal begun to wear off or is it still a sought after destination?
Living in Arizona is quite a unique experience because of the vastness that the state offers. From the Sonoran Desert in the south to the high country in the north all the way up towards the Four Corners east and the Grand Canyon in the west. Known as the Grand Canyon state, Arizona is diverse in many ways. The state tree is the Palo Verde, the state cactus is the Saguaro, the state bird is the Cactus wren. If you are thinking about moving to Arizona feel free to subscribe and check us out on our other channels.

I left because all of the coolest places to live had been overpopulated. Like Prescott. I've seen Prescott grow in 4 years and now it's too busy with the traffic. That's why I loved Prescott, is for the old school Arizona charm and how there wasn't a ton of drivers on the road. Now so many people from pheonix moved there and it was too much for me. Also, there are many neat places that I would love to move to in Arizona that are too underdeveloped. And I adore the southwest, but at the same time, you want more trees and natural water and some nice grass, every now and again. I also wanted to live somewhere where it felt like Halloween for fall season and that Christmas would feel like Christmas. I ended up moving to Apalachian country.

We left a few years ago, when the decline was well under way. As a young family, the cost of living was high compared to the wages, but the worst part was the lack of good schools. We moved to a state that is still expensive, but we now have good schools and good family neighborhoods.

I've been here for 20 years and I truly love Arizona. People are friendly, it is so laid back. Jobs are plentiful, but they are not keeping up with the cost of living like they used to. You cannot see the sky in Tempe for all the skyscrapers. They were looking at Old Scottsdale for the same thing. That is painful, it will kill tourism. It is a beautiful state, thru and thru and I have been all over the state. I can no longer afford to live here, I miss my kids so I am going back to Indianapolis, to freeze my butt off. I am sad to leave and I would recommend AZ to anyone.

The desert can be pretty and the winters are nice and all but not enough to justify living through these summers, dealing with the pollution/allergies, and paying San Diego prices. Arizona has gotten hotter than ever, and fewer rain and monsoons. I want all these ridiculous people to leave, and stop ruining everything.

I can certainly relate to the other people commenting on here. I am from CA and after 24 years of marriage, my wife and I are getting a divorce. Even if we split our home 50/50 we still would not be able to afford a new or a used home in CA, the prices have gone up so much. That is why I have been looking at relocating to Kingman. I know this will probably piss some of your posters off, but personally I want out of CA, I love the weather, but I cannot stand our governor and legislature. They have turned CA into their own private commode and I no longer want any part of it. I believe in AZ, the freedoms you still have, and I will work hard to help keep them.

Our Pension Incomes won't be taxed here. VERY different if you are re-locating with a down payment from the sale of a home somewhere else. Our house in Chino Valley doubled in value. It is a crappy manufactured home full of linoleum and particle board. We are not spending money on the interior of our house. After we die, our kids will inherit the property and the 3-car Garage will be worth more than the house.

The complaints about the heat are ridiculous. The human body cannot really tell the difference once the ambient temps are above body temp (98). 100 is the same as 115 in its effects on the body.

We live in Verrado (western edge of greater Phoenix), and housing has gotten so expensive, but so has everywhere.. economy is so hard right now. Traffic is bad.. but real issue for me is bad drivers!!!! Rarely do I see cops other than when they want to get $ and stop folks for stupid things rather than stopping the folks who weave in and out, go thru red lights, and dont use blinkers. As far as sports.. They are rediculous with security, parking is terrible, and cost of tickets and food makes it impossible for families to go... BUT as I've already said, the economy is bad everywhere, so it's hard to find anyplace. I've only lived here for 7 years, I dont see it getting hotter, but we do need more monsoons. The concrete jungle seems to be a factor.

I love In Ft Wayne IN. It’s a nice city. Safe and affordable living. But if you’re an outdoorsman like me. Ft wayne is boring and not much to do unless you drive 3 to 4.5 hours in either direction. South or North. Winters are becoming more tolerable. Summers are perfect. But if you like to drink that’s all there is to do here. I’m not big into bars and drinking as I’m older. I’d rather be outdoors. I’m looking to relocate to Tennesee. I once thought about moving to AZ but I can’t afford to live there. It’s just a place to visit now. I’d I lived there I’d have to work so much I couldn’t even enjoy it. It’s easier to work here save a couple thousand and visit once a year and get all the hiking and sight seeing in and leave. Last time I went to AZ even the hotels started becoming way too expensive to stay. I used to fly in for cheap. Rent a truck for $500 a week and stay in hotels for under $100 a night in nice hotels. Now it’s $800 to rent vehicle. Gas is $4.50 a gallon. And hotels are $150+ a night. Wow. I’m prob not planning on even on coming back for a while. But that’s inflation all over. Idk how ppl can even afford to travel like Jeff does. It’s gotta be expensive to travel the world. I couldn’t even imagine. Paying for living expenses and still travel and not work and pay my bills. How do you do it.

No offense but unless you have a 150k+ salary, you and those kids will be living in absolute poverty in AZ. It is not a place for families..especially ones with that many children as real estate is VERY expensive there. You don't get a lot for your money. It's basically one notch down from California or Vegas as far as cost of living. So you'll pay 500k for a basic home and still be living on top of each other. Which is just giving the thugs the option to go to another area to do their tugging. The Phoenix police department DOESNT DO ANYTHING TO HELP MAKE THIS CITY SAFE AT ALL.
