    "Mine is the most dangerous name in England: Plantagenet, and once I carried it proudly, like a crown. Once I was Margaret Plantagenet of York, niece of two kings, the brothers Edward IV and Richard III, and the third brother was my father, George, Duke of Clarence. My mother was the wealthiest woman in England and the daughter of a man so great that they called him “Kingmaker.” My brother, Teddy, was named by our uncle, King Richard, as heir to the throne of England, and between us-Teddy and me-we commanded the love and the loyalty of half the kingdom. We were the noble Warwick orphans ...,raised in the royal nursery at Middleham Castle by Queen Anne herself, and nothing, nothing in the world was too good or too rich or too rare for us."
    - "The King's Curse" by ‎Philippa Gregory
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    On the morning of 27 May 1541, Margaret was told she was to die within the hour.Margaret refused to lay her head on the block, declaiming,"So should traitors do, and I am none;" according to the account, she turned her head "every which way," instructing the executioner that, if he wanted her head, he should take it as he could. Pope Leo XIII beatified her as a martyr for the Catholic Church on 29 December 1886.
    That's rich coming from him, what does Henry think he has his dear mother is Elizabeth of York and his grandfather is non other than Edward IV the 12th Plantagenet King, prehabs he should've just put himself on the chopping block as well if he wanted condem his own blood.
    Maggie's character is astonishingly moving because she's portrayed to live through this saga is actually attested. She and her brother were York royals and yet they lost everything because of their parents early death. It's soothing how lovely she is towards the others around her even the ones who her relatives loathed. She doesn't even grudge dowager queen elizabeth woodville and goes to the abbey to comfort her in the last days. She shouldn't have suffered that way, she paid with her lite only because of her plantagenet blood. Hopefully she's blessed now into eternal peace, alongside edward and her mother isabel neville. It literally makes me cry what happened to her and I think the only kindness she received came from her cousin elizabeth of york and catherine of aragon both generous women for those decades.
      @@Saliha366 well, no. The yorkist didn't exterminate the whole Lancastrian dinasty. They didn't kill women or children, that custom was introduced by the Tudors. At worst you can say Edward IV killed Henry VI. End of.
      The Lancastrians the same, though Margaret of Anjou cruelly had Richard of York, the Earl of Salisbury, Thomas Neville and the young Edmund's heads cut off and put on spikes. But that's the worst about Lancastrians too. The Tudors killed the whole Plantagenet dinasty because they had no right to the throne, unlike the Yorks in the first place and the Lancasters in the second. Even Bishop Morton, Richard III arch enemy and Margaret Beaufort who plotted in favour of Henry Tudor, were spared and treated very mildly. On the other hand Henry VIII killed a defenceless old woman just for vengeance, a Bishop who dared oppose him and two wives. Not quite the same at all, isn't it?
    • @ele5583
      @ele5583 3 года назад +25
      @@Saliha366 no they killed just Henry VI. Edward of Westminster was not executed but killed in battle. Not quite the same. And no, they hadn't more right to the throne. The Yorks had. And no they didn't kill more people for that reason. There's no others. Richard cared for the same children Tudor killed, they killed Richard's son probably, they killed the de La Poles, the children of the York sisters... nor Edward nor Richard enacted such a sistematic massacre. They didn't need it because the Plantagenets had a right to the throne (and the Yorks superior to Lancasters) while Tudors had none. And in all this Richard is considered evil and Tudor good!
    • @ele5583
      @ele5583 3 года назад +18
      @@Saliha366 and I'm saying that the Yorks didn't kill for the throne like the Tudors, not in the least. You still couldn't name me someone apart from Henry VI. Edward of Westminster was a casualty in battle, that's what contemporary sources report. One says it may be George's men but this is no murder, even if is the case, which is doubtful, just a killing of a man during a battle. It happened, and trying to escape doesn't mean you can be touched, on the contrary.
      Richard is depicted as a monster because later propaganda did and because he was accused of usurpation, and of killing pratically everyone who lived in his time, not least the so called "princes in the tower". Yet if Tudor exterminated a dinasty is a "wise political move", while Richard is a monster for the same reason. Richard didn't usurp the throne, he was offered the crown by the Three Estate of the Realm after Bishop Stillington revealed the story of the marriage between Edward IV and Eleanor Talbot. Even if you don't believe in the story, which I did, is not usurpation at all. He had a legal claim because the TEOTR offered it and Parliament sanctioned it. Tudor on the other hand usurped the throne, taking it by force. The definition of "usurpation" is taking something by force or without legal right. So Edward IV did the same. And Henry IV. But curiously only Richard is labelled an usurper! He was the best monarch of his house, he promoted the legal system for the poors, a fair justice, he prevented bribery for juries, he introduced the presumption of innocente, and finally he made all his laws in English for the first time so everyone can know their rights. After successfully governing the North for ten years he did the same as king. Edward IV who you so ardently admire, subverted the heritage laws to steal the dukedom of Norfolk for his son (Richard gave it back to the raightful heirs), he promoted his wife's family of upstarts and vultures and abandoned the Lords who helped him take the throne, which led to his exile. He introduced the benevolences, mandatory sums of money wealthy subjects had to give him without having them back (Richard abolished them). He then used the money to finance his war in France then accepted a French pension without earning a victory which angered English people who gave their money for the glory of a new Agincourt (Richard refused to be bought and didn't accept French gold). He grew more and more fat and lazy and Richard had always to fight on behalf of his brother (he beated the Scots besides and made English borders safe!). He left so a careless and precarious situation on his death that the Woodvilles tried to seize the power and a civil war again was risked (which Richard prevented). Oh yes, what a wonderful king was Edward IV... and what a bad Richard! It seems to me you need to inform yourself and set aside Tudor propaganda.
Her brother Edward had been killed as a demand by queen Isabel of Castile to give her daughter Catherine in marriage to Prince Arthur. It's a very interesting family tree and he was aware that he is part of the plantagenet family, & now lives in Australia. he said that he wouldn't want to be part of the royal family for anything in the world.
    I watched "The Tudors" so many years ago and I confess that I did not understand what happened to Maggie at that time in season 3 when Henry VIII decided to make them (her and her family) die. It was not very clear in the show and not explained enough unfortunately ! Now, I understand why. I have just watched The White Queen, The White Princess, The Spanish Princess season 1 and I am watching the season 2. Poor Maggie, a tragic life because her name. Good job for compiling. Just 2 downsides: Why did you insert sequences with Cersei Lannister and Rickon Stark ? Quick onset but I have the eye of an eagle 😁
    • @YORKSCROWN
      @YORKSCROWN  3 года назад +8
      Thank you for your comment: I was going to explain it.Well,I begin to.😉
      I was glad to see her story BUT scriptwriters didn’t tell some facts,maybe,because time didn’t come or they won’t write about it; and it’s ONE of reasons why I showed Cersei and Rickon from Game of thrones. And the second one is details: perhaps,Thomas Cromwell is guilty of Margaret’s death and it’s irony that he tried to ruin her though in the end he was ruined too and executed before Margaret. And Cersei portrays her talking to Thomas that she imagines his falling. Also Rickon is Teddy in childhood when he lived with Anne and Richard III.📚
      I’m just person,who learn all things about people of history to have a chance understanding them❤️
