Excellent work Mike. You made the right call to weld in the patch before putting any holes or slots in the patch. The patch remains much more stable during welding without the holes. One thing I have had success with patches is to stretch the patch to close gaps. This is just for very minor corrections. I too, love my Pferd body file to file my metal work. There is no substitute for a good sharp file to do precision metal work. I did a similar repair to the driver side but my wind screen attaches with bolts rather than the dzus fasteners. Frank
Agreed. Definitely better to have a strong repair piece since there is a lot of planishing, filing, etc to do and it would distort during the process. I’ll have to keep in mind that slight panel stretching to close gaps. A good trick if you can do it. Thanks Frank!
It is a total water rust trap. I am considering some kind of very thin gasket to see if it can keep the water out. Mostly from washing rather than actual inclement weather.
