Great video as normal Duane! I have so many issues! I am having a very hard time trying to find that used Superstar and now I'm going to try and find a 2014 CRV with less than 75K one owner! You are making it tough! Seriously Duane I believe that we are going to dolly our 13 Prius. We are the original owners and its paid for! That's not what we originally planned to do but times are changing. Have a grand week! SAFE TRAVELS
Hi Ron. Tow dolly towing is a fine choice. I know a lot of full-timers who use tow dollies and do just fine with them. And you can get a tow dolly with lights and surge brakes so you have it all in one package that way. And the best part is your toad vehicle is paid for! Gotta love that!!!
The new Ford Maverick pickup, hybrid model only can be flat towed. It has a eCVT, not a a rubber band CVT which is why. Mine was one of two Roadmaster prototypes for their baseplate development. Rides on a Ford Escape chassis, so good. Ride and with a tonneau cover really adds to a motorhome storage. It only comes in crew cab.
The 2019 thru 2023 Ford Rangers 4X4 are flat towable, they are manufactured at the same plant and same line as the new full size Bronco automatic and manual trans, same frame, transmission and transfer case as the full size Bronco.
Thanks for contributing that information about the Ranger. I mentioned the Ranger as being flat towable in my first video on this subject but didn't know that they are being made on the same assembly line as the new Bronco. Thanks for sharing!
How are you towing these cars that have automatic transmissions? I understand 4X4's with transfer cases? Can you explain how you get around the automatic transmission on those 2 wheel drive cars and SUV's?
As I mentioned in the video, not all vehicles with automatic transmissions can be flat towed. It has to be specifically designed that way by the manufacturer. That's why the list of flat towable auto transmission vehicles is not a very long one.
The best way to know whether any vehicle can be flat towed or not is to download the owner's manual for that vehicle and look under the "Towing" section. Usually it will state whether the vehicle is flat towable or not. That way, you know for sure what to expect.
To make sure just check the owners manual under the "Towing" section. It will usually tell you whether the vehicle is flat towable or not there. Thanks for watching!
My research says that some models of the SRX are towable but mostly from 2016 and earlier. Nothing recent. And I don't see anything listed for the XT5. The main recent flat towable vehicle for Cadillac is the Escalade.
You are leaving out one roadblock to getting anything GM FWD that has a manual transmission, they are extremely rare. I settled on a fiat 500 to tow behind my Class B simply because so many of them come with a manual transmission. Found one Chevy Sonic with a manual trans but it was a hideous color. Sorry but you would likely have to go with a European or Japanese made vehicle if you are looking for a used vehicle. Found one Corolla W/5 speed, a couple of Yaris models, a couple of Honda Fits. American made with manuals are quite hard to find.
Hi Larry. You're right. It's getting harder to find manual tranny cars period. They seem to be an endangered species now. Thanks for watching and have safe and happy travels!
@@RVInspectionAndCare Most of the vehicles you are suggesting cannot be had with a manual trans. So how do you flat tow a FWD vehicle that has an auto trans? I can see no safe way of doing that.
@@larryhutchens7593 Actually there's quite a few vehicles that have automatic trannies that are designed to be flat towed by the manufacturer. Most automatic tranny vehicles should not be towed that way because they aren't built for it. But there are some that have made specifically to allow flat towing and my list reflects some of the best ones that have been designed that way.
As far as I can tell it can not be flat towed safely. But to be sure just download the owners manual and check under the section for towing. It will tell you what you need to know there.
That's right John. My first video on this subject lists the full size truck offerings from Chevy, Ford and RAM as having models that can be flat towed. Thanks for watching!
The dinghy towing guide from Good Sam says that both vehicles are are flat towable (2020) and they are a pretty reliable resource. Thanks for watching!
The new Ford Maverick hybrid pickup is flat towable too. Both the Escape and Maverick hybrids have eCVT, not a CVT which is why they can be flat towed.
LOL. Backing up your toad while still attached to the tow bar is pretty tough. I only know a few people who can get it right. Thanks for watching Roger!
Our Subaru manual Crosstrek is a joy to tow.
Hi Pete. Thanks for mentioning that here.

@@RVInspectionAndCare, That's right, I now remember seeing that.
We tow a Chevy Equinox. We have 26’ Class C and you don’t even know it’s back there
The Chevy Equinox is a great flat tow vehicle. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Do you know what year Nissan Sentra's are towables?
No I'm sorry but I don't. But that information should be available by searching online. Thanks for watching!
Any of these AWD?
There are AWD vehicles that can be flat towed. Just review the list I provided and you will find some in there.

What about flat towing a 2015 Nissan Roque ?

How about Cadilliac ?
XT5 and/or SRX

I didn't think that the Escape hybrid or the Fusion hybrid could be flat towed since they have a CVT.
The dinghy towing guide from Good Sam says that both vehicles are are flat towable (2020) and they are a pretty reliable resource. Thanks for watching!
Yes, the Escape hybrid, the plug in hybrid and Fusion hybrid can be flat towed. All CVT transmissions are not created equal.
The new Ford Maverick hybrid pickup is flat towable too. Both the Escape and Maverick hybrids have eCVT, not a CVT which is why they can be flat towed.
@@thecasualrver they have eCVT with gears not a rubber band conventional CVT, this is whey they can be flat towed.
@@brucedennis4688 Thanks for the information.
The more I keep looking into this, the more I’m starting to think that a FWD vehicle with a tow dolly might just be the best option.
A lot of people feel that way and that's why you see a lot of tow dollies in use out there. Thanks for watching!
Tow dolly has to be one of the real PIAs on the face of the earth!
Do you think some company will come a tow bar that you can backup your tow vehicle L
LOL. Backing up your toad while still attached to the tow bar is pretty tough. I only know a few people who can get it right. Thanks for watching Roger!
My understanding is to get a STEEL tow bar instead of aluminum and I believe that Blue Ox has steel tow bars.
