Can you imagine Brenden. An F15 and Airbus Capt for AA and live in LA. He has to really celebrate thanksgiving. He has a great life. Great interview as always. Hope you and your family have a wonderful thanksgiving.
Great interview! As a Retired AA Captain its great to see the company still getting the quality pilots we need. My son is also a Captain with AA and is also working outside the cockpit at AA to help the company become better for our Pax and the employees. Take care of your crew and they will take care of the passengers to present a great product. Well done!
Great interview. I enlisted in the USAF in 74 at 17 with no focus with my dad also working for the FAA, but as a ATC radar tech so I became a radar tech but always with a strong aviation interest. Got my BS degree late in life & spent 31 yrs as a LEO/USAF retiree, but would have loved to have seen a Brandon growing up for inspiration. Nice job.

What a great interview! I appreciate how you celebrated not only Captain Bailey’s solo flight as his instructor, but now his role as Chief Pilot. What a cool full circle moment!
It was cool to see Mr. Maj Bailey on your show. This was enjoyable to hear his story and learn more about him. Thanks for taking time out to bring an old friend of yours on the show!
I’m currently building my time right now for the commercial license at a part 61 school. And listening to this podcast make me really want to join the Air Force but I don’t have a bachelors degree. But on the bright side I’m only 20, and still have a lot time to do it. Hopefully one day that door will open that for me!
Incredible interview with a really incredible aviator and man. I was so pleased to see that Brandon flew with the 333rd FS Lancers, which was my squadron when I instructed A-10 RTU. Thank you for this podcast!
Thank you for sharing this great conversation! I’m a student at Fresno State and always love seeing those F15s fly overhead! I plan to hopefully start my flight training journey soon and found all these stories so awesome to hear!
Love watching your videos. I'm a retired passenger locomotive engineer and their are definitely some similarities, compensation is not one of them. Keep on keeping on.
Thanks for another great interview @The Pilot Life. Capt. Bailey (Chief Pilot / Fighter Pilot) has a great story to tell for all (no matter what profession one might be in). But since it is aviation related, it is great to hear the ups and downs he faced and how be overcame and capitalized on each opportunity. As a former Airman, I can relate. Thanks for your service Capt. Bailey! The takeaways before the takeoffs... seize the opportunities and pounce; live in the moment; the future will be bright.
I commented before I got to watch the entire interview. Brenden please don’t be afraid to extend these interviews or even make a part 2. I’m strongly considering rejoining my previous career. This interview really had an effect on me. Brandon talking about picking up the little trash about choked me up. Your late instructors are looking down so proudly. You both are very inspirational to your industry and life. Thank you both. This video was very special to me. Perfect timing.
@ Thanks. It isn’t the military but close. When you leave it’s a clean break and no comebacks. Very strange. I have to turn in an application by Sunday. I was on the fence. I have 4 pt jobs. I can leave them and just do the one. Brandon expressed a feeling I couldn’t articulate. Got me off the fence. Thanks for the encouragement
This was a great interview I really enjoyed it. I feel like I’m following down the same kind of path as Brandon. Started off doing my flight training at a career oriented school but always had the Military aviation in mind. And now I’m going to navy officer school in January and flight training after.
I'm just six minutes into this and I have to comment. If nothing else is heard from this, it's that you will fail at things in life. How you respond is key. I've had numerous failures in life. But I flew in the airlines and now teach pilots to fly biz jets. Only because I kept striving after failures was I able to do what I've done.
Luckily, 37+ years with a major airline and now retired for the last four. I can say I was never called into the chief pilot’s office and frankly never met them over the years in person. That’s what I call keeping your airline career squeaky clean. 😄
Excellent podcast! Currently in the Air Force looking to start my flight training next year. Would you recommend a part 61 or 141 school for the GI bill? I do have about 60 hrs now.
You can get a medical waiver for “almost” anything. I worked as a Flight Safety Specialist in the Flight Surgeon’s Office and reviewed waivers with the Flight Surgeon.
It’s amazing how many doors opened for Captain Bailey at just the right time, and the adversity he faced and overcame. A true Thanksgiving story. Thanks for sharing his story.

What a great interview, such a humble guy who really has a lot to be proud about and a great career.

I really enjoyed this one. It’s interesting to hear different paths through aviation.

Great hearing from him that one’s path is not what one always expects
Really great interview. Thank you for putting this together.
It’s been a while since I watched a long video on RUclips but this interview had me glued to the screen. Awesome guy…..awesome interview

If you’re considering rejoining your previous career, just do it. Keep pushing. Don’t look back later in life and regret not trying.

What a great interview.
Outstanding to see where you are now, Magic! Bring your unit out to Red Flag already! -ROTN
I'd love to meet him! Former Crew Chief turned pilot in SoCal.
Such a great story
Awesome interview 👏

Big shout out to Chief Bailey 🫡
Awesome achievements but they allow Fighter pilots with corrective vision?

What Airlines is best? Or is really about where you want to live and be based out of?
