Ok for everyone that uses MediBang after some research and experimentation I found the Brushes you guys can use to replicate the Sugimori Style.
For inking, use the G-Pen Brush, turn off the size by pressure and put its ooze to 1
For Coloring, use the Flat Brush (Wet)

What canvas size and pen size do you recommend for drawing pokemon?
What about someone who uses ibis paint-
@@artisticallytwistedtea7083 for line work I would think genius pen or pencil (#2) would work. For the 1st Gen color soft pastel mod might work and for newer style coloring possibly pen (fade) with varying opacity. Have yet to really test it myself. For ibispaint x

Hey this series is a pretty cool idea. Especially showing the difference in how Ken's art style has changed. Cuz hey you can have a signature style but the reals can notice the little to major changes seeing the progress and practice that artist is making to get better

I’ve noticed that with the newer Pokemon in sword and shield they focus way more on giving the Pokemon form based on one big shape, although I forgot the name of the new elephant Pokemon but it’s a great example being made one large rectangle while even making the tusks squared

One srtstyle that has always stuck out to me would be the style used in the promotional material of Sonic Adventure games. That era had such fluid and dynamic poses that just gave off a radical 2000s vibe that i hold dear

Damn this is amazing! I am currently trying to actually draw in the same style as Ken Sugimori but I’ve been having a hard time. Almost mixing the two styles and not really knowing what went wrong. Granted I can’t use my computer right now, but as soon as I can I’m defiantly going to get procreate and try and do what you did to mimic the old style. I have been trying to go for a gen 2-3 look and it worked a bit in my practice on just faces and hands, but now I took one shot in the dark and it didn’t work and now I can’t even get back to where I was. Goes confidence got shot but then again it’s only my 3rd or 4th day trying so I can’t really say I’m done just yet. Hopefully it’ll be easier now that I have this and know of the other RUclips channel you used for reference.
Maybe in the future you can try and tackle the other styles in between the first and latest generations? Because something I’ve noticed is every 2 or so generations have a major style change, and it could be cool to see how you tackle those and break those down.

Maybe you can do another one analyzing the Pokespe artstyle? Just saying (Pokespe is the name of the pokemon official manga, YES IT EVEN HAS ONE)
Honestly I feel like your first two drawings were actually more reminiscent of the Pokémon art style than the second ones. It almost feels like you started to over-think things. The water color on the first is so much more like the original works, but the expression on the second is better. While, with Dawn, I think your first drawing is way more like the real art style than the second, though I do think the exaggerated perspective on the legs is better in the second than the first.

How about a video on the art-style of the various MegaMan Games? Their are various styles used across the 7 series, and in two of them, Original and X respectively, the art-style of those games went through an evolution.

Would love to see how your layers are broken down for colors. Learning the colors and how to get it to look good/clean in the lines is hard if you just use the drag and drop method

Yea style is rough. I still think style is an emergent property of creating a lot of art. Sometimes it's a byproduct of an pathological quirk (See Monet, cataract distorting the vision in his one eye, or Van Gogh thought to be schizophrenic)
There is the "years of practice" way, of course. I'm not denying that. Picasso was one of the best life portrait painters by the time he was a teenager, he CHOSE to have the recognizable style he created.

The early style looks amazing! the newer still looks a little bit sloppy tho, Sugimori's style is super geometric nowadays and I think he didn't catch that.

looks good! may I recommend you avoid using soft brushes for coloring next time? find some textured brushes, paint and then use layer masks to create those waterwolor blank spots.

I know this is not the point of the video, but, i like the first atempt better than the last one, not because it looks more like Sugamori style , but because I really liked it.
Funny enough I had a couple of comments sharing that same sentiment, that really means a lot since it’s basically just how I draw haha so thank you for the kind words :)

Also I've looked up another like this for Pokemon and one said for highlights and shadows to erase and not blend how do you feel about that?
Honestly that could also work really well I never tried it by erasing but I’ll definitely see what I can do!
I do plan on bringing Master study back once the channel picks up a bit more (just because it’s a very time consuming type of video) I’ll definitely make it a bit more tutorial based while still being entertaining c:
