The problem getting an Eichel trade done is the entire NHL realizes how overrated he is. He can score, but he’s not a PPG player (which is a benchmark to be a superstar center). He also kinda sucks on the backcheck and is legitimately crappy in the faceoff dot.

Him going back to just focus on being a defenceman, rather than trying to be everything all at once, should make a world of difference. I feel that Edmonton trading Ethan Bear is a surprise. This trade confuses me on both ends. He had a 'sophomore slump'. It's not uncommon, especially among young defence men. Warren Foegele certainly isn't a bad winger in return on contract who can play middle-6 minutes.
Edmonton doesnt look to have the greatest defensive depth up in the Bigs and at the prospect level. Bear was starting to look like a minute munching, trust-worthy stay-at-home dman.
Carolina moved Jake Bean and Haydn Fleury in seperate trades, just when it was looking like their #1 Right Dman was going to bounce. Stocking up on defensive depth seems the medicine to me but i guess theyve got plans. They turn a bunch of trades on Draft weekend into 7, YES! 7 extra picks, and Ethan Bear. So perhaps Don Waddel has the inside on something we plebs don't.

I want to know how the 2016 first round swap turns out. Glass and Patrick had a lot of potential. Preds always need centers while Glass needed the opportunity and Vegas seems to think adding Patrick solved center depth.

Hill was never going to be started over Kuemper or Raanta and til this day I think to myself that he was meant to be become that #2 guy in the 2019 season until Kuemper got hurt during a big playoff push right at the trade deadline and because of that we had to keep Raanta instead of offloading him because we would then be stuck with only 1 goalie while sitting in first place at the time

Montréal has been a very good 5 on 5 team for years. Brining in a power play sniper is much more likely to work on a team that overall plays well 5 on 5. Ducharme and Julien both have conditioned the core to be very responsible at both ends of the ice.
