    • Deputies DON'T Have a ...
So for the past 9 years they have all been enforcing a dumb sign with no legal authority, because the judge and county attorney think thier spoken words are law... And they'd still think that if I didn't challenge them on it.
Why do they think they can accept tax dollars as salary but not work for the tax payers?
How can they think they are "above" having complaints filed against them?
Who thinks these elected officials shouldn't be elected again?
I'm just a normal member of the public. This is how they treat everybody, I just happen to have a camera.

The lawyer is voicing exactly what the problem has become with career government workers. They have redefined the term civil servant to a negative connotation. As a retired government worker who worked for an elected official, I was held accountable for any rude or uncalled for treatment of the public (not that I was/or am of that nature). And I was always expected to give my name and supervisor contact information upon any request. Yes, my favorite response to "I pay your salary because I pay taxes" was "I guess that makes me self-employed because I pay taxes too." I get the argument that they work for the county or the county judge, but the attitude is totally unacceptable. We have lost the meaning of polite society. I always told my kids as they were growing up "my world may revolve around you, but the world does not" you have to live in society.

Please note: private sector jobs provide new money to the tax pool while public sector jobs recycle and deplete the old money in the tax pool. Simple accounting, without new money the old money will eventually disappear no matter how many times you recycle it. So, you personally may feel you are paying taxes, a formality to redistribute funding to other public sector accounts and possibly earn quarters for social security if that applies, most public sector positions offer pensions over SS. Otherwise, to me, it’s a wasted formality to tax public sector wages to begin with. No knock on you, but efficiency saves a lot of dollars. I also don’t think that public sector employees should pay sales tax etc etc. these are all forms of double taxation. I’m almost certain all public sector purchases for goods and services are tax exempt, it should apply to wage expenses as well.

@@5ringsaudits just pointing out that unless the public sector has extremely rigorous oversight on spending particularly hiring, there is nothing stopping them from hiring more people, and being opposed to laying them off, since every single person they hire and maintain on the payroll equates to a significant additional tax to the private sector. As an example, currently, there are approximately 5 million excess jobs in the private sector, to offset this imbalance we could layoff public sector employees to fill these positions and more efficiently balance government deficit spending by leveraging the private sector shortfalls in available workforce rather than hoping we get qualified migrants to fill these positions. It’s a win win. We experience layoffs in the private sector to improve efficiencies but rarely if ever practice this in the public sector it’s very stagnant. I can’t remember any announcements of significant layoffs in the public sector, have you? I point to the pandemic as proof that public sector employment may be excessive since there wasn’t a perceived drop in service when these buildings were closed to the public for extended periods of time.
