To start at nothing-silence, and then to arrive 40 minutes later at a sonic destination unplanned; what a gift this band is. I try to forget comparisons to other music I listen to when I hear them. THIS is THEIR sound, not someone else's sound. I love them. Thank you for posting this!!!!
They've been influenced by every artist they've heard (and those that they've heard have heard) and will influence those that ever hear them (and those that ever hear them hear). Unless you're trying to emulate something, you'll be in the same territory as the necks
The beautiful video footage seems to be taken from a film by Wong Kar-wai, everything takes place with slow and hypnotic tempos - magnificent music and video
There’s something of the masochist in me I think, in that I come back to see the Necks hoping that one day I’ll manage to stay awake throughout the whole of their performance. Seen ‘em twice live and still not made it through to the bit where they become interesting.
With all due respect to the Necks with whom I have no quarrel the comment made by The New York Times is the most ignorant and unqualified comment I have ever heard. When they make such ridiculous statements it simply reflects poorly on their lack of musical knowledge and experience. More than likely it was made by some young pup barely out of diapers and who has not yet experienced the vast library of music that is out there for all of us to consume. What would the juveniles at the New York Times have to say about these FOUR albums for your pleasure. Mesmerizing, compelling and transcendental.
A more pleasant surprise I could not find. Thanks so much for this. Made my night.
My most revered musicians! Love it!!!
Love these lads. Come back to Dublin
Another great track, come back to Manchester again soon
How I've missed The Necks and their taxi service to transcendence since the start of the Great Unpleasantness. Hope there'll be a gig at Cafe Oto soon

Considering my listening habits I am very surprised I did not know of them until today. I am certainly glad that omission has been rectified.
The greatest
desenvolvendo o exercício de escutar... muito bom ser animal!
This reminds me GAGAKU Japanese traditional music. As if we were in the meadow in the dusk. All insects sound heals me.
Really, about as far away from contrived formulaic contemporary pop music as one could possibly get. Behold the magic of these heads and hands.

Liminal, Spiritual, Dynamic.
wow the 10 minutes of accordion and theremin trading licks was a nice surprise
I liked where they went with the theremin, but they lost me when they added bagpipes
wow the 16 soul singers at 32 mins was a nice surprise
Each of them is performing a different track. I am sharing their facial expressions😪😞

Do you honestly think that the journalist who made that statement doesn't know those artists?
