I bought a brand new CRV about 3 years ago. I made some fair negotiations with the dealer. It was $30,000. It looked bigger than this in the boot, seemed to have the same engine and CVT, had identical fuel economy. The back seat looked roomier than this and I think the styling was better (not to say this looks bad). So now if I want to go back to the equivalent size ZRV I’d be paying$43,200 for a slightly smaller car with the same engine performance. Car companies are crazy.
At the moment the CR-V is a rival for the RAV4, but the ZR-V is only 3cm shorter nose-to-tail, 1.5cm narrower, and has a wheelbase that's 3.5cm less. They are very closely matched, and with the new CR-V growing in size (and likely to expand it's seven seat offerings) Honda's range is getting a bit of a rework.
Honda's are now built cheap. Where's the chrome door handles? Where's the luxury looking grill? Why does the front look like a Ford fiesta/focus? The Honda accord seriously needs to look less like a fleet car and a reliable luxurious Lexus. Why is honda Australia just civic and suv focus? Wheres the integra and nsx? .....not that we can afford the new nsx 😅
In the Australian range the HR-V sits below the ZR-V as a small SUV, this sits as a medium, and the CR-V's next generation will grow in size to become a medium-to-large SUV, though still officially designated as a medium SUV.
I really don’t understand the sunroof thing. I don’t want sunshine in my car, nor do I want something that might fail and adds weight. I also don’t like leather seats but I know I’m in the minority.
The ZR-V is only 3cm shorter nose-to-tail, 1.5cm narrower, and has a wheelbase that's 3.5cm less than the RAV4. Next to a Corolla Cross the ZR-V is 10cm longer overall, 1.5cm wider, and has a wheelbase that's 1.5cm longer, so it's positioned right between the two. In Australia though the Corolla Cross sits in the Small SUV class, whereas this will be officially classed as a Medium SUV.
@@Drivecomau yes, but the length and width is exactly the same between RAV4 and CR-V. The only difference is that the CR-V is 4mm taller. Here is a photo comparing dimensions between all three: i.imgur.com/ueUDf6m.png
That's true right now, but by the end of this year Honda will launch a new CR-V with a 4cm longer wheelbase, 7cm longer body, and small changes to height and width, pushing up in size compared to the current model and giving it some clear differences between the ZR-V.
In a similar way to what Honda Australia did with the Accord and Accord Euro in the same vehicle segment, they're trying a similar approach with ZR-V and CR-V. By the end of this year the new-generation CR-V will have launched, and moved up in size and price to give both space within the Medium SUV class. As CR-V moves to upper-medium in size the difference between the two (and ZR-V's similarities to RAV4) will become clearer.

Maybe Honda Australia is delusional.
vertical grills look woeful
Nice shape plus headlights
Rav4 is CRV rival ...not zrv

@@DrivecomauWhy then in the USA is it always compared to the Corolla Cross and not the Rav4?
No sunroof available shows how out of touch honda is with the market
Who uses a sunroof in Australia? One of the reasons we are thinking of buying one
55k and no wireless android car
over 54k car haven't got single sunroof and vision techonolgy is real down side for honda.
to my knowledge, this has almost the same if not more safety tech than the mazda package. Is there something i am missing?

This is what Americans get as the HRV so Australia gets a whole new model with this and 1 more than America
It’s not a new model. It’s the RHD version of the HRV sold in the US.
@@pjb5594 which is exactly what I said. It's new to Australia
@@pjb5594HRV in the US has a different engine (2.0 atmo, less powerful) and far less luxury vs the eu/japan/AU versions
@@dsub1994 It’s the same as the US version with a turbo. What extra luxury are you talking about? You can’t even get a sunroof or AWD here!
@@pjb5594 check Doug de muro's review, it's quite different and his review was for a full option variant
The ZR-V is the American HR-V
No, American HR-V is the rest of the worlds ZR-V
No thanks too expensive no sunroof no magic seats boot too small . I'll stick to my current Honda hrv VTi-L 😅😜
Where is the HRV??

$55k and no sunroof....
I don’t really need sunroof anyway
In a place like Melbourne, Australia a sunroof is kind of pointless. I have never thought to myself; gee I wish I had a sunroof.

I don't understand how this car can be a rival to ra4 . For me it doesn't make sense

For a car this size 210 hp would have been the sweet spot.
Got the feeling he doesn’t like the car.
It looks like a massrati levante not the ford escape
A face only a mother could love. Matched with a warranty that HONDA AUSTRALIA doesn't accept despite what its dealer says and it's waaay overpriced.
CVT,WHY.
A fuel saving measure.
Honda need some new designers .. styling is ugly!
I Love the design. Looks a bit like a Maserati
looks bad
What a joke. Expensive and lacking in safety. Dull cvt, no sunroof.
