    I drove a 2002 suburban for 6 years and only just retired it a little over a year ago. If I had my way I'd drive it for another 10 years, but sadly the rust was finally getting to the frame. Mine had those flaps to cover the footwell and they were very useful when folding down the middle row for cargo or traveling with dogs! That suburban was the most functional and useful vehicle I've ever driven. Newer vehicles really can't compete for quality and function.

    The GMT800 series of vehicles are some of the best vehicles EVER built by any manufacturer. 18 years have passed since they ceased building this platform and there are still hundreds of thousands if not millions still on the road. 05 Cadillac Escalade ESV owner here. Little backyard mechanic trick for cars that the support "arms" won't keep the trunk open is to use vise grips right under the black part of the arm. That'll keep it from falling on you without having to use a random bar that might fall down.

    From what I understand the reason for the carpet on the doors is due to it being called a a kick panel so if your out In the mud and the. Getting back in it won't be on the floor as much. At least that's what I've been told anyway. Hope that helps

    The 2000-2006 year range of GM full size SUVs were some of the best. Full 6ft bed if you folded down the second row in any Tahoe or Yukon. Full 8ft bed removing third row, folding down second row and using those footwell covers in Suburban or Yukon XL. Miss my ‘03 Tahoe for this reason alone. Was nice to go to the drive in movies with an air mattress in the back or just put so much more stuff in the back than in my 2011 Yukon where the second row folds up and takes away a lot of cargo space…

    The carpeted door panels go way back to the 1960s carpet was more durable than the vinyl wrap. The carpet saves on scuffs on the bottom of the doors but I don’t think it’s done in any current vehicle. Nice job!

    • @citibear57
      @citibear57 6 месяцев назад +3

      Yup! Scuffs on shoes (people do push the doors open with their feet), as well as scuffs on the hard plastic lower door panels. I wish the manufacturers would still do this, but it seems every manufacturer wants to reduce costs ...and make more profit.

    I gotta say Mitch you're the best cleaner ever, I wonder one day you would encounter a Mercury vehicle to detail, They're very similar to Ford at the same time, Mercury was served as Ford's medium priced brand that was created in 1938, It was originally created to serve Ford customers a premium vehicle. In 1945, during the world war II, Ford merged its mid range Mercury brand with Lincoln and thus Lincoln-Mercury was born. Sadly after years of declining sales, Ford have decided to discontinue Mercury brand in order for its efforts to focus on Ford and Lincoln lineups. Finally in 2011, Ford completely phased out Mercury brand meeting to its end on the road, However after Mercury's death, I really love your amazing videos, you did an excellent job of cleaning vehicles and I'll be enjoying watching your videos for as long as I can.
