  • Hey guys! In this full flight video, I fly from Toronto, Canada up to Ottawa, Canada aboard a WestJet Encore Dash 8 Q400. After a great flight aboard one of WestJet's B737-800s, this one couldn't go more wrong. First off, at Pearson, the flight departs from the furthest possible gate in Terminal 3...but ok, I was fine with it at first. Next, my flight gets cancelled. I have to walk then all the way back to security where WestJet's customer service is located, stand in that long line, and get rescheduled to a flight 2 hours later with no compensation (oh and it departs all the way back at the same gate). The flight itself was OK; definitely nothing special about WestJet Encore's Q400s. They don't have all the high-end features that other WestJet aircraft have such as WiFi, comfier seats, better legroom, more spacious cabin, etc. but for a turboprop, the Dash 8 Q400 is the best they come. Definitely enjoyed looking down at the scenery below without having a wing in your way...or vapor trail. On the airports, Toronto's Terminal 3 is nice, but not as good as Terminal 1. Ottawa International Airport, on the other hand, is a gorgeous, modern airport that I think fits the city well. Hope you guys enjoy!

Hey TJG! Love this travel video to Ottawa! OH! CANADA.... Fireworks were a spectacular display! Absolutely love that tune at the end! Wish you would use that tune in other videos. But, don't forget to always use the classic intro/outro tunes! They personify TheJazzGuy13 Aviation channel! Thanks for all you do, Ricky :)

Great video as always Jazzguy, really enjoyed it! Shame about the cancelled flight but it happens unfortunately.. the flight itself looks uneventful, quite weird to see there is no sink?!
Ottawa looks like a lovely airport!

Thanks for those ending shots of Ottawa. Having worked in the airline industry for many years those two flight cancellations seem a tad shady considering passengers from both flights could be accommodated on the flight you ended up taking. That tells me the cancelled flights were not going to be money makers and it is so easy to blame a cancellation on no crew but that was a practice in the olden days, not now, but it seems Westjet still uses it when convenient! Hopefully, I am wrong!

Yay! Finally a face reveal at the 6:08 mark as you were walking back to the terminal for rebooking--my legs were beginning to hurt just watching you shuttle back n forth in Toronto''s spread out airport.I'm guessing you've been to Canada numerous times judging from your apparent knowledge of the Toronto airport and landmarks while in the air--being that you're from Pittsburgh, assuming you have a debit card to pay for stuff,do you have any problems with card usage outside the US? Was looking at the inflight menu, had to remind myself that the pricing is in Canadian dollars--what is the USD vs CD? Cheaper for Americans? Did you Uber your way to downtown or is there some sort of airport shuttle? Is Tim Hortons a restaurant chain? What was the occasion for the fireworks? Obviously Canadians don't celebrate July 4th :) Although you went in August, what's the typical summer temps up there? As you were walking to your Q400,thought about what it would be like in the middle of a Canadian winter! I've only been on a Q400 once,PDX-SEA on a Horizon shuttle('Seattle Shuttle' they call it)have about 2 clips on my channel and yes,I agree its cramped and seats not so comfortable

the tarmac boarding here reminds me of Gate 35x at DCA in Washington DC which is okay but in the winter it isnt.

Great video. When flipping through the magazine, it was interesting out of the 2 props that the airline has, one flies 410 mph and the other only 290 mph, I thought they'd be closer together than that. I saw the page with all of the routes with all the airline's jet aircraft. But was there another page you didn't show which shows the routes of the express prop aircrafts? Most airline magazines have a seperate page for those since most airlines have their express prop routes to cities and smaller towns that are shorter distances away. Anyway, great video though. Sorry your first flight got cancelled

Well at least the lady that told you to go to the desk when your flight got cancelled was sincere and apologized. But then again we Canadians are really good at apologizing. Well, most of us are good at being sincere. We just like to say sorry for just about anything and everything.

Sitting beside the propellers on this plane makes for a noisy ride! I just did this flight the other day, the captain climbed really quickly, kept changing cruise altitude and speed as well, had lots of ear pain/popping, gonna try to avoid this short flight from now on

If you compare against other carriers covering similar routes in turboprop aircraft, then your rating could be higher. Flights get cancelled....shit happens because you know, flight crews get sick too! What ISN'T good is a lack of backup crew
, as this was pre-Covid. Nowadays it's even worse!

the airplane is built to WestJet spec.....so space, amenities etc are consistent with a budget airline. but aerodynamically the plane is a great piece of work.....WestJet is no longer the funny friendly airline and since the growth in overseas destinations and buying into 787's etc...has become just another airline with the same problems as all the others.....it used to be my airline of choice...but now I look around before booking....

I flown with westjet in 2008 and last year. Meanwhile this airline was very attractive for « friendly » experience but now it’s just an ordinary random airline.

17:05, Bucket list amusement park for this coaster junkie. As of this comment I've been to 20 parks, ridden 135 coasters in 8 states. I have yet to go international. Some day I will obtain a passport and check out Canada's Wonderland and perhaps La Ronde and see once and for all what going through customs is like as I never been outside the United States.

You probably could have driven there faster ,the time it took you to get to your gate alone . And btw since you mentioned it ,Canada must be the only "sovereign " nation to allow foreign agents to conduct security control on its own soil . Ridiculous !!!
