Neil was one of the best drummers I have ever watched in my 7 years of drumming and one of the best I have seen for a long time. There were many other great rock drummers like Stewart Copeland. RIP Neil Peart 1952-2020.

I've logged 8 hours of seat time learning this one. It does take time for sure. Just remember that Chorus Section is still 2-handed 16th notes. He just moves the LH down to the Floor Tom on the "ahs" of 1. Just keep that alternating 16th sticking pattern steady. The backbeat lands on the 4. :-)

Man I needed that right now! I’m actually sitting behind the kit right struggling halfway through Animate. I though it would be an easy song but Neil is so damn deceptive with his drumming on what we might think is “easy”. Thank for that encouragement my friend.
@@thejohnnydavidson that song to me is kinda tricky, cuz Neil uses his hi hat and ride to drive the groove (gives it that sense of urgency), but at the same time lays back on the (back beat) snare, almost like a blues toon, to match what Geddy is doing on the bass. I Always enjoyd playing Animate live. Ur right it is tricky. I have no doubt u'll nail it.

I know I’m commenting twice, but for counterparts, you have to do animate. It is such a great song any it’s a good song to practice switching from your normal ride sound, to the bell while playing with your left hand also.
