Great Idea! Every one else do the same. Millions of small claims should overwhelm and get the word out to the consumers as a Ponzi Skeem. This will turn out to be so bad for contractors if we don't rid them. Every consumer worldwide asking the Kings advise all under one roof. Once your eliminated well that's it there is no more. The Bank get's to recycle the deed on your home! you have been deleted / terminated!

That's why I'm posting. I'm not a tradesman, but I've been clipped twice by 2 of these companies now. I'm posting until I get tired of it, recoup my 70 bucks, sort of. By stopping even one person to sign up with these con artists, I'll be happier.

I grew up with harcore pro tradesmen. My dad was one. What I learned of character, I learned from them all. Stand up men and women in the trades can lose their reputations quickly with these "services" just by association. I'm tired of getting it without a reach around. I didn't want to deal with Home Depot, but I have to now. Maybe in the north it is better, but in Florida they'll send out any asswipe with a bucket of tools.

These two people are right. I had Home Advisers service leads. Never got a job, wasted my money. Bad leads, it’s a scam for all contractors. Plus they make us compete, they sell the same leads to five contractors. Be carful with Home Advisers don’t waste your money with false leads.

Shadow Wolf you have that option if you go be a sub contractor, leads are what they are leads. if you can't call people right away and and have problems selling your business Homeadvisor isn't for you. if you're a good at what you do the ROI can be incredible.

    • @shadowwolf2742
      @shadowwolf2742 6 лет назад +2

Rody Piper That's not the problem with Home Advisor. the problem is YOU REFUSE TO give credits to contactors for shit leads even when LEADS are Shit Another problem you sell leads to 8 Contractors & make $480 for each phone call. Your all a bunch of LEECH SCUMBAGS. Google should remove you from the all pages & run a better lead system they don't need bottom feeders like you.

Storm Group Roofing....I used to work in law enforcement and I called the department in Colorado that has jurisdiction in the area where Home Advisor's office is located. I sent them this video and asked them to look into the drug sales, etc. That and the class action suit should cause some sweating on HomeAdvisor's part. :)

Valuable video- anything that anyone can do to help keep contractors and home owners from ever using Home Advisor is commendable. I do Search Engine Optimization (which is an ethical way to get businesses to the top of the Google ), and I'm always seeing Home Advisor in the top organic positions- They use their massive network to dominate other companies. I've dealt with many contractors who got burned with B.S. leads- (including plenty of roofers). I absolutely despise Home Advisor. I hope someday a class action lawsuits brings them down

I'm a Design Consultant and I have used Home Advisor to find a few contractors, plumbers, floor installers, electricians etc. I have had both good and bad ones but all of them have been SUPER EXPENSIVE. I'm talking about overcharging by double and even triple the normal price quotes. I wonder if they are doing that because home advisor is charging the contractors too much to begin with.

I am a owner/operator of a small 2-man pest control business. Home Advisor has been contacting me everyday trying to sign me up. I almost gave in til I started to see that most online only businesses are scammers and crooks. So I decided to do research before I made a costly mistake. It's hard enough for a small business to make it and now I see why. Thanks for opening up my eyes.

I wish our then, project manager would have seen this before signing up. We too are part of the contractors that got scammed. We have made numerous attempts to reach them, speak to anyone who can do anything to help us, just to be told that because the proper cancellation procedures (which we never knew about) were not followed ( which was to call their customer service line) and they can't accept the emails from the rep stating he was going to cancel the account so they are not issuing a refund (over $2600). Emails were sent in Nov 2019 to cancel then again in Feb 2020, but our bank account continued to be charged since November 2019. There is much more, but that's the gist. Please do not use them, they scam, lie and play games. As much as I can I will making it my life mission to get them shut down, so they don't take advantage of other hard working honest small business. I will leave reviews on every site I can think of!!!! Shame on the people that work there and know their unethical practices but continue to implement them.

I started a business and had it registered in my state. Home Advisor got my business number from state records and contacted me about advertising. They wrote a wonderful ad about how great my company is. It was extremely convincing. It went into great detail about how experienced and professional my company is. That ad proved to me that their organization is a multimillion dollar scam. They were praising my business and making it sound great before I started my first day of business and got my very first customer. Their only concern was to get me to pay them $625 for the ad. Home Advisor was ready to praise my company to the public when all I did was registered the name of my business. I WILL NEVER USE THEM TO ADVISE ME OF ANYTHING. 😂🤣😂🤣

Storm Group Roofing Wow is been a month i haven't recieved a call from home advisor once i told them about the leads issues they were having. Also is common sense why pay a yearly + leads?? That is a total loss on every lead that isn't real. What if you did a $800 job. Later get lead calls that aren't real. Pay up and keeps adding up worth $800. Then where is your previous job worth? I wish home advisor will stinguish/ banned as in forever.

its to bad a service such as home advisor cannot be an honest instead of crooked service as it can be very beneficial to the contractors using it. maybe when they lose this lawsuit they would reorganize into the service they could be! I particularly hate when I call a lead and #1 the number is not a working number or 2 there is already someone there working on their A/C 5 seconds after I get the call.

And we pay Angies List 400 a month...Home advisor is double dipping and refuses to credit the money back....I have tons of screen shots to prove they are stealing from anyone who uses them...I wish I could show you the proof I have, its so black and white....

In CA there are " at will workers " or " contracted employees " ? A lot of people don't understand this? In California If you have something in writing that states you perform tasks for x amount of hours for an individual who pays you to do so than you truly are a " PAID EMPLOYEE " with legal standing and rights. You work for someone but nothing in writing than legally you are not an employees " WORKER " no legal rights. He can let you go with a phone with no explanation and doesn't need to pay you a penny and it's completely legal because you are nothing to him or that organization. Are you a worker of an employee?

Still happening. I'm a HA subscribed professional and wondered why so many leads never called me back. Just finally got on with a customer after getting the computer-generated lead and immediately connected, only to find out that someone else got this lead many minutes before I got the same lead and they scheduled an appointment with the first person that called them back. So I'm paying for leads that I don't stand a chance at getting. Seems like they can charge us for services not rendered which seems criminal in my opinion. Others have this experience?

I am an electrician/AC service tech for a long time. Home Advisor contacted me, and I decided to give them a try.
I do not regret at all my decision to join up with them.
Do I receive a lot of joker leads? Absolutely. But even after factoring in the expense of the jokers, I am still way ahead. Some of the joker leads are credited back to my account.
When I call my recruiter/rep who signed me up, he always calls me back.
My only affiliation with HomeAdvisor is that of a vendor.
I normally do not comment on these sites but when I read everyone bashing them, I had to speak up.

I am a contractor who must have hit the jackpot. When I signed up, they told me that contractors sell 1 out of 4 leads. I have only been listed with them for a month and have sold 5 of 6 and the 6th just hasn't made up their mind yet. I have only experienced three "bad leads" and was credited those fees. I have not experienced anything of what you are reading from these papers. I think you need to interview contractors that it works for and find out why. For me, I kept my lead count to only two a week, and honorably sold my work. I am now booked out for two months due to HA, and put my leads on hold in order to not overbook. Please try looking at the other side of the coin, not just the negative.

Truther41God thank you for noticing my post. The short answer is, so folks can see that if worked right, it ain't a scam. In fact I booked out so much work through HA, I had to hire a guy to get through it. Booked out two months solid, and one customer who now wants an addition to their home after seeing my work. I am only using HA to get through the slow months and am seeing word spread faster than I thought, I may be cancelling or seeing if they have a hold longer than 30 days (which ran out last week). While the leads were on hold, not a single charge or attempt to sneak any others in, so not sure why folks say they do it. I am a simple guy trying to make money for my family instead of a boss. In case there are doubts about me I can be found on Facebook hishandscarpentryllc Centralia WA.

HomeAdvisor put me into depression last year and almost bankrupt me.
They got the last strand by unlawfully auto-renewing by charging over $350 but I payed almost $4k in leads in two years and 90% of dead leads and progressively got worse as time went on.
I pity the costumers that decide to get on HomeAdvisor too because I had several clients tell me they were called by over 8 contractors.

Couple things I want to say about Home Advisor. I had a good friend used them for his Roofing business in CT.
This service WORKS but you have to know how to use it, and yes you have to put a little effort in.
    1) set your spent target low to something you're comfortable with. If you want one or two leads a week, tell that to the marketing consultant you sign up with. If you get a few leads and are happy with who you have booked that week, turn them off. Turning leads off is as easy as a click of a button in the mobile app, or online.
    2) If you get a bad lead THEY CREDIT YOU BACK. Just call customer service, or you can even "request credit" through the app or online.
    3) Some people have said they called a lead who ended up only wanting an estimate. HA has pricing guides specific to the area that is free for customers to use. You may not have sold the customer well and they may have made an excuse for not wanting your service, because they have to fill out five pages of questions and look at a price guide to even be sent to you.
    4) The site they list your business on comes up tier one in Google searches, they partnered with Facebook, it's on 8 live directories, AND on HA live directory. That alone is worth the membership fee, just utilize it. Upload your portfolio, add a logo, ect.
    5) If you're complaining that you signed up and keep getting calls, but ALSO say you've never answered it because you "know who it is" then answer the dang phone and let them know that you're not interested. If you registered they're supposed to contact you and if you never answer how do they know to stop calling?
It's simple, if you just use it right. I see so many valid points on here and it's not for everyone but I've seen so many businesses benefit.

I must disagree with some of your points. Unfortunately, we had a spend limit for a month and they charged us $200 more than our spend limit in just 6 days of service! Quite a few of the leads were bogus leads too. We ended up putting our account on hold. They also refuse to credit back leads that are bogus. We've tried and they will not refund. Disputing with my credit card company now since they charged more than what we agreed to pay a month. And...that price is in writing on their website.

But...what about us customers?!? I needed a few shingles replaced on my roof (I'm a sixty year old man with poor balance-lol.) The receptionist for my regular roofer quoted me a high price on the phone. SO...I went online and found homeadvisor. They made me an appointment with a Mr. Justin L., independent or with what company I don't know. It was $200 cheaper than my first estimate, so I figured, what the hey??
The appointed day came today. The Gentleman showed up more-or-less on time, and replaced the four missing shingles. But, THEN the trouble began. Homeadvisor emailed me a $548 charge (which was not pending online this morning.) The young man said he had not been paid, and needed $215 cash. When I (probably stupidly) showed him the email, he of course said he needed $548 because "I have to pay the rest to homeadvisor." So...I paid him the money, and, of course, this afternoon a charge DID appear from homeadvisor. The man had said he'd send his contact info to my cellphone (no business card, no name on the truck) but, that never happened. It was not a total ripoff...he did the work-hopefully well. I also tried to get customer service while he was here, but the hold time was too long, and I had to leave. I will get their online customer support tomorrow. He may be sleazy-but, so is homeadivsor.

This comment is based off my experience only about home advisor . I haven't watched this full video yet but almost finished it. What I can say is Home advisor has terrible customer service for contractors its very annoying to be on hold just to get a refund for a lead and it can be very frustrating when trying to resolve certain issues that should be simple. On the contrary Home advisor can be an amazing way to gain new clients. Personally I've recieved a ton of bad leads... although I have profited way more than I have spent on bad leads or people looking for estimates . I would only recommend home advisor for people that have some sort of monthly or weekly service type of business that way if you do get a lead for a job most of the time people end up hiring you for your service. Also people are looking for your service and just want someone to hire to do that specific service. I can definitely see how most professions that do one time repairs, building or installation type jobs with no type of continued service will end up losing more than they make because they aren't gaining that consistent stream of revenue from that client they did the job for they just did the job and now it's done. They may get calls from that person when something goes wrong in the future but that is not enough to count on. I speak from pool service background so this is just my experience home advisor works for building routes for way less than you would spend buying pools off of someone else. As far as the treatment of the employees and the selling of bad leads I am sick from that and probably will not continue service with them after this term is up even though it has helped me greatly .

Just this week I was charged $80.00 for a lead that went to a voice mail and I was never called back despite I called back in various occasion, then I was charged today Friday another $70.00 for a lead to paint parking bumpers which I was not even listed to do these kind of jobs. I get a ton of direct calls to my phone and the majority of these calls are serious about getting work done. The direct calls are people that have located my business on the Home Advisor site so I still credit Home Advisor with generating work for my business. The key is to keep your leads paused because when a potential customer takes the time to read your reviews and then contact you directly it is a much better chance that you will get the job. I started running my account using this system because I, like so many others, was swamped with dead leads from Home Advisor.
