Yes, my very first airline was Spirit Airlines and I am so grateful for the experience I had with them because it has lead me to where I am now.
I wanted to share my experience with you in hopes it would help you better prepare for the flight attendant life, if that's something that you want to do.

I just came across this video, I am very glad that you pointed out the reality of being a flight attendant, these days on social media I see lots of them flooding their Instagram pages of pictures being in LA, NYC, Florida, Texas, etc, but rarely ever say anything about what it is really like outside of the Instagram lifestyle, and I think it is important for people to know that it isn't all glitz and glamor, I wish you the best of luck and to keep on loving what you do

Sis, you are the absolute truth! I’m not a FA….but I literally just love your videos. Despite me doing RUclips myself, I only watch a handful of creators and most now are FA’s. You all are so wonderful. I wish nothing but the best for you always. United is lucky to have you.

thank you for the insight, I got back about 2 weeks ago from an interview in atlanta and got the cjo, i could be based in either atlanta which is a 2-3 hour drive depending on traffic or in orlando, and I will find this out once i go to training in orlando in late june, and seeing this video opened my eyes a bit because im in the same situation you are since I lost my job due to personal reasons at Envoy air, sadly they didnt want to let me go either, however company do what company does. Since I have time now, thanks to you I can prepare myself and hopefully succeed as a newbee :D

Ever since seeing the movie Hostel, I can't bring myself to stay in one. When trying to save money, I understand. Glad you were able to still persu your career. Just think, the things you never find out about before interviewing.

as someone who travels 100's of days a year. Having your life in order is a must, as you found out. Some of the other FA's have done a "How much did i spend on a 3day" type VLOGs and they were all shocked at how much they spent. Now to the more Senior FA's it may not be a big deal, or if their sig other has a well paying job. Starting out is hard in any field, but having to start out and put so much out there (money wise) to do the job and wait to get your per diem and such is a bit different. I hope to see you on a flight one day - I'll say hello discreetly LOL
It’s so true!! I don’t even want to know how much I spend on a 3 day 🫣 lol. The first few years are defined tough but everyone always says it gets better as time goes on. Yes say hello!
God bless you! You moved from Florida to Chicago to work for Spirit. I live in Chicago and I fly for Spirit I know how cold it is I. The winter. I changed bases to Orlando, lol. Im now based in ATL. Im happy that you have found your forever home at United.

I love your videos and have been watching them learn more about what being a flight attendant is like. I've been thinking about becoming one in a few years. Do you recommend working for an airline like spirit in order to get a job at one of the big airlines?
If you’re goal is to work for mainline legacy, then definitely try for it now! You don’t have to start somewhere else and “work your way up”. I would put your application out there to whoever is hiring and if it doesn’t work out for mainline right now, then yes you can absolutely work for Spirit or another company until the opportunity to move to another airline presents itself. Basically, what I’m trying to say is that it’s not necessary to work for another airline first before getting to one of the bigger ones. I highly recommend researching the companies to find the one that’s going to be a good fit for you.

I’m a new FA. I did pay to get to the f2f interview. They covered the costs after I got my CJO. I think as time goes on things will get better. The stipend is taxed depending on your home state. Currently on my first reserve shift. It’s a little hard because I haven’t worked in over a month but I think in a few weeks things will pick up for me and I’ll be a little better financially. I live 3.5 hours away from my based. So im so worried about making sure I get to base on time as a reserve person
Congrats and welcome to the skies! I hope everything works out for you! It is going to be rough the first year, it is no matter what airline you work for. If you live that far, I would definitely try to get a Crashpad just in case!
This video is so helpful and true. I have a question, when you quit your airline, how did you go about it? Did you send a 2 weeks notice, or tell the supervisors?
I sent an email to my supervisor letting them know that I would be finishing my last trip that was on my schedule and resigning afterwards. I don’t think it was a full two weeks notice.
United is a great choice, my dad is a retired captain and mom a retired 'stewardess'. Their benefits are great, I love Flying Together and have had great perks being a family member. Congratulations and many Blessings to you..United all the way!💙🛫💙

I never went to an airline that does not pay for accommodations or training. That is a NO. I had 3 must haves on my list before picking an airline. Union, Paid Training, Accommodations to / from training, bonus was all international travel ❤️

That makes total sense! At the time, I was just so excited for the opportunity. I have heard though that Spirit does pay for flights to their interviews now, but I'm not sure how true that is. Thank you!
Spirit pays quite well when you graduate from the training . (Bonus of $1250)You also are given plenty on a credit card for food during training. They pay for your flight to and from training.

Hello B. I just got hired by a certain airline myself. I have training in the first week of Dec.2023. You and I have sooo much in common that I had to comment to you, comments I usually don't do. I reside in South Florida also at the moment. I NEVER LIKED SOUTH FLORIDA. Anyway, b4 starting my new airline job, I'd just registered to drive for Uber. I also had to purchase my own plane ticket to my upcoming orientation/training. I am originally from Canada through ways from the Carribean. I don't know why, but I just feel like we should speak to each other sometime.

I’m about to start training for spirit airlines and I’m terrified. I’m giving up my apartment and moving to Florida but want to put in a transfer back to Las Vegas do you know if that’s possible? Or will I be stuck in Florida?
Absolutely put in your transfer! If I remember correctly, you have to wait 6 months before you’re able to transfer.

How do you like living Chicago? We're you able to find an affordable apartment near the airport? Asking because have i have interviews upcoming with airlines with bases in Chicago. Also do you know when United opens hiring for non-foreign language speakers again?
I love living in Chicago! We were able to find decent pricing for an apartment within a 30 min drive from the airport although I mostly use public transportation. UA just had applications open! I’m not sure if they still are or not but definitely check asap! They were open for non-speakers.

Thanks for the comment! I'm not sure what or where your tattoos are, but a lot of airlines are starting to be a little more lenient. As long as they can be covered by the uniform or depending on their size, they may be okay! The only thing I think all airlines are pretty strict on is if they are on your chest, neck and/or hands.
Do you have to live in your base or can you commute?
You can commute but it just makes it a little more difficult! Every airline has their own commuter policy too. Some prefer you to not commute others will allow it and have “oops” policies if you’re unable to make into base for specific reasons.

What experience did they require when you first started ?
They want to see customer service experience and having experience in the medical field helps too. They’re really looking for people who can work well in teams, manage stressful situations, be safety oriented while being able to take care of the passenger service wise.

How difficult is it to get ATL as a new-hire or transfer with Spirit?
I’m not really sure as a new-hire or what the seniority is for ATL. My experience with them was back in 2017 and things can change drastically. You are able to put in for a transfer after 6 months though.

Hi! That’s great! I can’t tell you exactly what was asked but the questions were typical customer service questions. They want to know about your customer service experience so have that ready. Be familiar with the STAR format and why you want to work for the company you’re interviewing. You can also go to glassdoor.com and search interviews there! People post questions/there experience interviewing on there. Just remember to smile and be yourself!
Hey, does the pay ever get better?
Hello! I can’t really speak too much on Spirit and their pay structure as when I was with them it was 2017. Things may have changed but typically you’ll get a raise yearly. With my current company the pay starting out was definitely more and we get a pay increase every year. You really start making more money though around year 5.

How much you get paid?
This varies by airline but when I was with Spirit it was $20.88 an hour. That’s just flight hours and being on reserve we were guaranteed to be paid for 72 hours a month. Plus per diem. My current company starts at 28.88 with a $2 reserve override for being on reserve along with per diem and some other incentives. Our monthly reserve guarantee pay is 78 hours.
