      Looks like alot of overkill from average person including myself but once you know the meaning behind the technique s they make more sense than just alot of show.

    Watching this makes me admire the sparring partners here. They take a beating. But without that we really wouldn't see the best of the techniques.

    The techniques presented by Mr. Tatum are meant to develop one's own personal alphabet (a personal flow). It is a representation on how one can manipulate the body with each strike. A real fight is chaotic, with too much going on to execute a technique that has been shown. It is one's hope that through a chaotic situation, bits and pieces of techniques learned will come together and flow.

      I agree with you! Many martial artists put down form and technique but the benefits of practicing them are priceless. My stance, core and striking have benefited tremendously from working form and technique

    • @danielmolina80
      @danielmolina80 10 лет назад +1

      you can use maybe 1 or 2 steps from each techniques,but that give you the advantage in a fight, you are able to control your own body and dont fight like a little girl.

    • @thisremains007
      @thisremains007 10 лет назад

      All of the strikes shown in a technique can be executed. Is it going to bring the same probable response as the technique shown? It really depends on many factors so one cannot say indefinitely that a strike thrown will ALWAYS produce the same response. As far as advantages go, there are tons that kenpo has.

      100% that's why it's very hard to see people uploading green/brown techniques and analysing them for their street credit. They just don't get it. Theres no context to their understanding.

    why do so many martial artist design techniques expecting the opponent to stay put while delivering multiple strikes? what you see in mma reality, people react from the first strike

    • @erkwild
      @erkwild 10 лет назад +3

      Very good and common question and critique. My understanding on this with my experience In American Kenpo, the attacker is literally called a dummy at this point. This is the basic stage of learning a technique (concepts). The multiple moves are for the opponent's potential responses (defense and counters). Next stage, the partner becomes an opponent that counters the kenpoists attempts (throwing the monkey wrenches in or the devil's advocate, so to speak) developing more realistic potentials. It is assumed that the opponent has some kind of training or fighting experience. Training with a variety of partners (with a variety of training and experience) exposes more potential possibilities of reaction and counters by opponents, eventually getting to the point of just being natural in response and movement. What people usually see in the videos are the techniques or concepts being expressed at a more basic level and not the more developed levels. Hope this helps with your question.

      Clearly its set up but the same principles apply. My friend has a blackbelt and is only 5'1 and fucked up three cops with it. Of course he was drunk but this shit works. I agree with you if its fake then dont use it. For example Tae Kwon Do is all kicks, yes very unrealistic.

      because Parker's Kenpo (which this is a rip off of) teaches the alphabet of motion. to follow up if the 1st technique didnt do the job. Its just a way to lean motion. You wont be doing any of this as it is shown on the demo necessarily in its entirety

    • @joshthedrummer1000
      @joshthedrummer1000 8 лет назад +1

      Although some choreographed self-defense techniques, like Five Swords, can be used in real life, the soul purpose is merely to teach the flow of Kenpo.

    • @spottss
      @spottss 8 лет назад

      Parker taught the alphabet of motion. Its up to the student to become so fluent that he can handle real life attacks. Read up on Parker Kenpo and youll see what i am saying.

    Ed Parker Kenpo rip off
    . I trained in Parker lineage. this is just a perversion.

    • @ryzimski5749
      @ryzimski5749 8 лет назад +1

      Kenpo Karate was never intended to be a tradition based martial art that barely moves outside the comfort zone of the techniques, sets, and forms that laid its foundation; the origins of the art itself are alterations from a variety of Asian martial arts.

    • @spottss
      @spottss 8 лет назад

      yes. i merely meant the techniques shown here are not as taught by Ed Parker, at least as is now known and taught in schools that continue his exact teaching of each technique as passed down from his original teaching.

    • @spottss
      @spottss 8 лет назад +1

      also maybe i was too harsh in my original comment. its not a ripoff. its merely a variance on the technique as was origiinally created by Mr Parker. certainly one can gain something from it as represented by Mr Tatum.
