I feel your family tech support pain! When I first got married, my non-techie wife would call me to look at something that was not working for her. I would go up and say, "show me what's not working." She'd start clicking and clicking and clicking and then exclaim, "now it's working. It knows it's daddy is here!" 🙂

Hey I am new to the nas world. I set up omv 7 and I am truly happy with it.
For my future I want to stay flexible with my data. For example being able to switch to other nas systems (Like proxmox or trueNas). Could you do a tutorial, addressing the topic of migrating nas servers?

As long as you have it in a shared file you can access it. You would just copy like any other file into your new nas share.
You probably won’t be able to reset the Apple laptop without the appleid. It’s done for security, to make it less desirable to steal… however it should tell you what account it’s connected to, but I’m assuming he doesn’t remember his password either!
I was able to reset using my knowledge of what he uses for id's and passwords. I have the new super hard to guess password in my possession.
