Hey, that's pretty interesting, I didn't expect to feel relaxed but I do for some reason, also my finger movements feel smoother. Maybe that's just placebo but that's how it feels. great video, I would absolutely like to see more of these. Keep up the good work
I really like to learn guitar especially fingerstyle guitar but don't know where to start. Now, this channel is helping me a lot as a beginner! I can't afford paid lessons at the moment so I really admire and appreciate your efforts to teach lessons for free! Please keep sharing your music and knowledge! Thank you so much, be safe and God bless!
Great video! I really enjoyed this kind of guitar yoga session. I'm looking forward to new instructional content. Thank you for spreading valuable ideas to our classical guitar community.
I'm a bit late to the party but I just want to say in case you see this that I absolutely loved this video, and think it's not only the best video on your channel, but the best practice-related guitar video I've seen on youtube
I think It'd cool if you post specific warming ups, like right hand ones or left ones. Also for finger's independence and generic or specific techniques. I really like your content!!
Some of these exercises gave me hard times but I didn't expect to feel progress in just one session. As a self teaching guitarist these practice videos really help me focus. Please make some more ;) By the way do you have a patreon page ? Peace from france !
I'm still at 9:20, but I just wanted to say, I usually never warm up before going into playing songs I like, but I decided to give it a shot. I already feel more confident in my finger placement and feel my hand stretch with a lot more ease. Also, is it just me or does Odair's favorite drill sound kind of similar to "Dream Is Collapsing" from Inception? Thanks for another great video!
That's so cool to hear! Yeah I don't always warm up either, but when I do, I feel the difference. That's why I like to do this long slow warmup periodically, as I mentioned, like a reset button. I'll have to listen back to Dream Is Collapsing now!
After I clicked on a link that you suggested I got some emails to also suggest that I enroll. I would like to, but after I got the vaccination against Covid-19 I got a severe neuropathy which I use a lot of time to try to recover from. If I get well I will enroll. As you said, one of the conditions to enroll would be to have the intention to do some work yourself, not just watch you do it. My age of 72 years is also something that makes it harder to come back to a healthy condition, but I will certainly do my best. If I recover, I will enroll. After the 'Christmas and New Years' celebrations, I will see a neuro doctor... then I probably will know if I will be OK and how long it will take. By the way, I heard that Eric Clapton got this numbness in both his feet and hands and that he was very scared that he would not be able to play the guitar. I don't know what happened since then. I only know that it was due to vaccinations for Covid-19. Cheers from Erik and I wish you Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!
Thank you, Nathan! I followed along while prepping for a lesson with my teacher. It's good stuff and definitely helped me warm up and identify some things that I can improve.
Bro, thank you so much for this. Seriously. I am going to use it to reset my attunement at the start of each week. I am really, really thankful for you doing this.
Great concept! I'm also keen to see more model practice sessions like this one. Personally, I'd be interested to watch one focused on smooth changes of the fretting hand between different chord shapes.
This session was awesome! Thank you. I will definitely be revisiting. Session idea, take one or two measures of one of your arrangements and go through how you learn/approach practice of those two measures. From slow practice to identifying problem/tricky movement to building speed and making the movement one fluid one that rolls from the hand. Actually, you probs have a lot more learning ideas 💡. Cant wait to catch your next breakdown. This was great!!
🙋🏽♂️ I have a very big question about the right hand fingers, that I dont know if im doing wrong; I'm using always "p (for the first low strings) i m a (for the nylon strings respectively)" to play classical songs, but on this warming up video I think you're using only "i m". 😯 Is there many ways to play depends of what you are playing? Or there is a right o wrong way to play? I have seen also some people using the pinky on the right hand. What is going on? 😱 Haha
I am a bit late to say that it was actually helpful to practice along with a qualified player. I feel now excited to keep practising, and may insert this sort of practice method into that of mine. Thanks!
Thanks for putting this video together, I hate warming up, but its seems to be the best place to really keeps me focused and helps me to improve. I have a couple of questions. Nathan maybe you or someone from the forum can give me some insight. first, after watching the video my goal this week is to be more relaxed. I tend to rely heavily on my thumb with the left hand which after practicing for a while it is sore. so trying to relax and use gravity takes some practice. As I relax and rely on gravity more than my thumb to press the strings, i notice the guitar tends to rest heavier on my chest, is that a correct feeling? If you were to do another video, I would really like a video on how to improve timing.
@@BeyondTheGuitarAcademy Thank you. I enjoyed your most recent video as well. since I have started to warm up for 15 min before each practice with a timer. surprisingly the 15 min goes fast. Looking forward to seeing the long term result.
Me encantó mucho esta rutina. A mí me cuesta mucho las rutinas, pero me anima relajarme y consetrarme en la limpieza del sonido de la guitarra. Gracias por aportar. 😁

Hey! I really enjoyed this practice session. You need to do more of these please.

Hey, Nathan! could we get another one of these practice session videos. They're amazing!
Okay I'll give it a try

Hammer on is actually bit hard for a acoustic guitar😐
Just takes some time to develop the strength to get the necessary force from a minimum distance. Stick with it!
@@BeyondTheGuitarAcademy What's the best way to practice hammering-down power chords?
I can hammer a power chord down with a finger from both hands, but not from the same hand.
I think It'd cool if you post specific warming ups, like right hand ones or left ones. Also for finger's independence and generic or specific techniques. I really like your content!!
Super video! Yes ofc will be nice to have more of these 👍
For future reference 2:06

Check out your captions 😂😁😂

Oh well, haha! Guess you can't "when" 'em all ;)
Yah😁
String=chain
😂😂
A lesson on percussive effects and techniques would be amazing...
excellent video, great warmup for beginners and professionals!

Is this guitar yoga? I do almost the same warm up but about twice as fast. Big fan of Pumping Nylon too.
Haha yesss totally guitar yoga!
The detail one
"Make sure you're breathing"
I was in fact in complete apnea...
Thanks a lot, that was all very helpful !
This was really cool! Any plans on making more of these guided sessions?

Thanks this helped me make neat sounds :)

I like this. I'm a beginner but seeing slow practice in action is really beneficial

Great feedback, Kari! Thank you, and I'm so glad you liked this
That hammer-on technique of yours sounds very familiar to Bruce Lee's famous one-inch punch !
I use that analogy all the time with my students!
Pretty cool dude
THANK YOU

Yes there are many different ways. Fingering is based on context.
@@BeyondTheGuitarAcademy Thank you! Could be nice a video about this topic, I think this information is not in RUclips atm
